Take breakthrough out of comp

You get 2 teams that aren't stupid and they aren't going to cap the zones because you cant beat a team dug in their spawn

  • It’s easily the worst thing to hit competitive. The game mode is clearly not very well thought out.

    • I liked breakthrough as a game mode, but today in comp we played breakthrough and it literally took 7 rounds to win as we just going into stale mates. Bit ridiculous. I'm now in the camp of it's not that good in comp.

    • I think it’s a fun and interesting game mode. And it’s leagues better than countdown. And if you have a problem killing a team dig in and protecting their zone than I’m pretty sure that’s more of a problem on your ability to play. But that’s just my opinion.

      • Its a pretty simple win. Farm kills until you have your supers, cap the first zone, wipe them with a super, take their base. Rinse and repeat.

        Just had this shit game mode four out of the last five games, and I want to find something to smash, preferably a Bungie devs nose. What were they thinking with this game mode? What were they smoking, besides the plentiful marijuana in Washington? Even a pot saturated cerebrum wouldn’t be so dysfunctional to have conceived of this shit. And after only testing it for a week? What genius. Seriously, they need to do something to prevent any scenario in a round that ends in a draw. You get more kills, you win. Something, anything but no draws. It’s just dumb, and two teams that are trying to win will draw this shit out indefinitely.

      • It took my team exactly 1 game in comp to figure out that it's a bad idea to play the objective. So I'm guessing the real good teams out there have figured it out too. Let the other team capture then spawn trap them or just camp your vault and kill them as they attack. All the tie breakers and sudden death time extenders are also stupid. It's like the game mode knows you ain't gonna play it properly. I'd say when it goes to a draw that it's either first team to cature middle wins the round or team with most kills. I can't stand it.

No incentive to capture the middle if the other team is going to camp their vault ...

                • Yeah my team was "dug in" and we got mopped. By a team of shottys. Sorry dude. I love trashing the way comp is and I want it better in a lot of regards(mainly for solo players) but I don't think this is an issue. Plus I don't think this game mode would work with 6 people. Not unless they doubled the respawn timer

                • Take it out of the game. Bungie used the Frontier gamemide from Battlefield and they still managed to make it ass.

                • I disagree. With my team, we always go for the center zone first and make it an absolute priority to get it before they do. Reason being that it is much easier to cap the vault than to defend it. You get two minutes to do it, and wiping the enemy team even once will give you enough time to almost cap the entire vault. The only time my team lost playing breakthrough in [u]competitive[/u] with this strategy was when we didn’t cap the center point. Other than that, we never failed once to cap the enemy team’s vault once we capped the center zone. So with teams that know what they’re doing I’d strongly recommend going for the center zone.

                  • Agree 100%.. Such a bad game mode. I'd be quite ok if I never played another game of breakthrough again. What we need in this game is some big team battle.. Some big ass maps, 8v8 at least and vehicles.

                    • My first time playing it was in comp on the new Trials map... Absolutely awful. Match lasted roughly 30mins and was incredibly boring and frustrating even as the winners.
