So are you guys ever gong to address the heavy ammo issue in the Whisper of the Worm quest?

At this point you have to be insanely good just to finish on time. The new supers help but once they're over you're pretty much SOL.

    Some pro tips from someone who's helped many achieve it. Regardless of burn this is what I run. Primary - pick one, I never use it until I run out of heavy then switch to Jade Rabbit which is at the three boss fight at the end Energy- Kibou - void or any void auto rifle, you need to break the shields of those annoying fiends in the middle Power - Whisper then I switch to a RL or anything cause at this point I'm running Jade Rabbit. Chain you're supers, then follow to pick up the others orbs. Use Spindle on every yellow bar till you run out. Rally the flag first!!!! First room; immediately jump up to the left, hide behind top of blight dome, sniper far right yellow then two yellow on left, run up the left side, kill last blight in front of door (if 14 min is your time your doing well), Sniper last yellow in the front right corner. Super (arcstrider) all ads till second wave spawns, immediately kill everything in the front right corner (still with your super) of the room then work your way back around the room. shoot the door. Hallway; if you have another super (teammate) use it, If not immediately run to the left and short scope everything with the spindle. shoot the door. Second room; go right with another super kill the yellow, then right down the right side kill the two wizards & knight, kill the snipers at the back, kill the two knights & wizard on the left, kill the ads which are void shielded -Kibou AR4, oh yeah. Kill the last blight before the door. shoot the door. kill the snipers (3, one directly in front, two up on pillars left side), jump back kill the two yellow f**kers that spawn behind you. get health jump out an just shoot the door. ** sometimes you can melee an ad and get more heavy to drop, sometimes. Boss room. One goes left one, one goes right kill all the blights which they are five. Got to have a super here, clear all, follow and get those orbs. fall back to where you fall down. Kill the right one FIRST, then left then, then dirt bag in the middle. If you have super use it. All shots at this point are the three you have to kill, do not waste time kill other ads. TEAM SHOOT the three, boom done. Edit; as DOOM3TER (good call out, my bad), pointed out for those who don't have whisper yet. Sleeper is a great alternative. Taruntula is a good Sleeper alternative. If you have neither of those, Sins of the Past works in a pinch or Curtain Call (aim at their feet). Solar and range are key thoughts to have for most of the fight is at range. If you recently picked up a Bad Omens with tracking from Gambit that would be good too. Basically a one shot solar range weapon for the Yellow's early on for the boss fight you can burn them down with Jade, Polaris, Scout with kill clip/rampage, heck even good ole original Nameless Midnight. Just trying to think of weapons most would have at this point. Cheers Wook,

      • You can cheese it dude... - have fireteam rally to a pub event flag so you're full ammo... - don't use your whisper until boss fight and once the bosses spawn just hang behind pillars where you drop in.

        • #1 wait for public event and get max ammo (carry more ammo perks on armor really helps) #2 get there quickly #3 use good supers that take out a LOT of ads #4 use void/solar weapons #5 ???? #6 profit (Also if it’s heroic go with the burn for that week)

        • I did it over the weekend on about my 10th try. I think it comes down to: 1) Getting everyone through the jump puzzle fast 2) Focus fire as a group 3) In the final room, take out the orbs quickly as a team. Then use heavy, snipers and supers to damage bosses from the front alcove. We finished it with 2 minutes left.

          • Soloed it the other day with starting with only 6 shotgun round and 6 snipes. Polaris lance melts the bosses.

              • I reckon there's a few days to go about this now following the slot changes. You can run triple sniper for example! Also, Polaris Lance once you use all your Darci or Borealis. Light Level hopefully makes a difference, I'm gonna try for it next weekend now I'm back enjoying the game again.

              • It’s definitely a intentional glitch by Bungie to make the quest harder which isn’t a bad thing as seeing everyone is over 400 now. The best way to do it is have darci as your heavy, and just dump all of it in the boss room, then switch to Polaris lance once you run out of darci ammo, don’t forget to rally the public event flag before you go into the portal, BTW it’s actually significantly easier now then when everyone was 380, even if power ammo dosent drop, just have to conserve ammo

              • I can still duo it with my brother, went in last week to help our last clan mate get it and completely forgot about no heavy. Switched to our bows to finish the bosses, finished with 5 minutes to spare (Our third didn’t make it to the boss room)

                • Lol, most players are way overpowered for doing it now. I hadn't even tried getting whisper until two nights ago and I got it on my second try. (First try was learning the jumping puzzle). We also got the catalyst on our first try. It isn't hard.

                  I wouldn't class myself as insanely good but I found it easy enough. Here are some tips: 1) Bring elemental primaries and make sure between your fireteam you have void and solar damage covered. 2) Stock up on heavy ammo beforehand and save it until the boss room. 3) Use supers efficiently but liberally, you can clear most of a room with a well used super. Make sure to be grabbing orbs from your allies supers as well. 4) Get good at the jumping puzzle, you should aim to have at least 12-15 minutes spare by the time you get to the combat section. Practice this alone before finding a fireteam if necessary. 5) Weapons with range are much easier to use, especially for the boss room. Hope these help.

                • I finished with 2 randoms i met in patrol area. Not that hard. Def challenging and i like that there’s no heavy. The time spent felt worth the reward.

                • Sorta, just rushed in sniped as much as I could. Barrel stuffed the boss with a full auto shotgun. Popped supers. Fairly easy

                • The best thing I can recommend is the Polaris Lance just because it has infinite ammo with Crits. It's almost mandatory if heavy ammo doesn't drop during the mission.
