Hunter Spectral Blades - please fix/buff

1.) Super hit registration is very spotty — Frequently, attacks will not register any damage to guardians in PvP 2.) Attack’s take 2-3 hits to kill guardians — sometimes fast attacks only cause 1/3 or 1/2 damage at random. 3.) Super energy runs out way too fast — most other supers will last a fair amount of time and should be on par with Arcstrider super. 4.) Very slow super movement — movement is too slow to chase enemies unless you’re constantly fast attacking. (Primary issue is the inefficient ability to close the gap in PvP) 5.) crouching and making a precision kill to proc it’s neutral perk is not viable at all **** let me add that this is specific to PvP; it just doesn’t really flow well with the class. I’m not sure what a fix would be but it only seems to promote passive play until you get that kill. The super is very cool but starts to lack its effectiveness while in super for various reasons stated, but also the synergy of its neutral perk in PvP seemingly lacks in its current state.

  • I totally agree! For me is the best looking super in the game, but it lacks in hit detection - mainly when fast hitting in majors- 'cause it pass through. Besides the PvP part. In addiction, i think the when PERFECT EXECUTION is active you SHOULD get a speed buff, to make the new melee more viable. There's no sense that the main perk require to kill while crouching - easy when far away from enemies - and and excelent melee only in close range

  • I agree with EVERYTHING related to the super itself. However I believe the crouch kills are fine! Pair it w/ Chaperone and a scout rifle - when they get their enviable buff - and you’re golden.

    • Yes it needs a damage buff as most supers 1 hit hill like arkstrider. You also seem to go through enemies and the damage dose not register. You just go flying around in random directions. I wouldn't use it in PvP it's to week it took 3 hits to kill a player with full heath and shield it's useless in PvP.

    • I agree with all of this. I have been using spectral blades since launch of forsaken and to be honest i am extremely underwhelmed. compared to the other supers of other classes, this one is really underwhelming and even handicapped. As stated, the super hit registration is awful, sometimes it takes as much as 3 melee hits to kill one guardian in pvp. There is no dash ability like titans to close the gap between you and your enemies and since invisibility doesn't throw off aim assist anymore, you have to spam light attack like crazy to close the distance and hope to god that you don't get mowed down before you get to your target. most of the times against other supers i lose the battle, infact if i see somebody activate their super, i don't even use mine to try to kill them because i know in a super vs super battle, chances are im going to lose and waste my super. As stated by ABBADON, having to crouch and get a precision kill to activate flawless execution is not viable, destiny 2 is a game of jumping, moving and strafing when dueling, so when you have to sit and crouch to get a precision kill to activate your most important ability, its really annoying since when crouched your mobility is extremely limited. Shattering strike itself is ok, but even that is lack luster in pvp because 50% bonus damage to a single enemy in pvp for 6 seconds isn't nearly as important as 50% bonus damage to a boss in pve. Its not a bad super by any means but its just extremely lack luster compared to other supers and skills and the skills don't really synergize that well especially in pvp. The changes i would recommend would be, some kind of dash ability to close the distance or increase movement speed longer duration in super because it runs out really fast attack buff so it doesn't take 2 hits to kill a guardian enemies don't get aim assist when you go into super(The whole premise of this super is being invisible ) so when you are getting mowed down when you are invisible so easily, the premise doesn't make as much sense) A better and more viable way to proc flawless execution and a tweak to shattering strike to make it more applicable to more situations. For those who think these recommendations may sound game breaking or unreasonable, there are supers with flaming hammers that launch fire tornados, human missiles with huge aoe damage, a disintegrating beam of light fired from the hands, flaming sword spam, 1000 flaming knives and much more. compared to other supers, as a spectral blader, you are severely outmatched currently. please make this super on par with the others Bungie

    • I agree with all of this, despite having moments of great success with it. The inconsistencies and lack of overall speed and ability to close gaps outweighs the potential to make plays imo. If they don't add something that helps make closing gaps easier, then the super either needs to a) last longer or b) not use so much energy per light attack, since that's mainly what is used to close gaps.

        • Haven't really used it new nightstalker in anything other than pve, I agree with the fact that when striking the thing goes ll over the place lol. But it does decent amount of damage to stationary bosses. Not sure which nerf's have happened to hunters, but I'm still arcstrider for PvP and am normally at the top. Love the new spinning staff.

          • Titans get one eyed mask. They get arms that give full super back for defending. They get the chest of inmost light. Warlocks got... ok stuff. Hunters get.. mediocre stuff too. My titan will see more action now that bungie hates hunters as well as the salt mines (forums). I want my purple blader to feel as half decent as arc strider, or BIG HAMMER. Not missing targets because i felt like slicing PAST enemies with no damage.

            • Those are issues in pve as well. The biggest one for me is having to crouch to proc invis. That was a pre launch change. It wasn’t that way when the early details for the tree were found. It kills the whole mobility of the hunter. As for move speed, there are some good options for that, passive move speed bonus while invisible (both in and out of super, add a dodge ability to the super say a blink dash similar to the new void warlock or a taken thrall (would probably be too OP), or add another method to go invis mid super that doesn’t use up super energy. Other interesting changes that could make the three more unique would be to add a hologram similar to halo reach, say creates a hologram that mirrors your movement on dodge, or have the smoke produce one with a possible teleport to decoy on second button press (would also probably be too OP but would match the archetype well.) or ditch the smoke for a stronger melee class melee ability. The damage smoke just doesn’t feel like it stands out enough from the other trees. Haven’t played the new trees for the other classes yet to weigh in. This isn’t a only buff hunters post, just me pointing out when I see a tree that could use improvement or changes to better fit an archetype.

I'm laughing more at the fact that Chaos Reach ticks the same damage as Stormtrance in PvP, but lasts 4 seconds, and deactivating the super saves you no energy, at all, if the super is active for more than 0.5 seconds. Had a Hunter get blasted by it (damage tick popped up; 95), they dodged with a wormhusk because of the tick delay, got hit 95 again, and survived because the super ended. I'm also fully convinced they forgot to give it Super Armor damage reduction when active.

                    • The super is poor why go with that just so you can go invisible for a few seconds you want your super to last that’s why arc strider is the better option even the new gun slinger is better it definitely needs a buff

                      • As a nightstalker main for PvP and PvE, the new super is extremely disappointing. All of your points are exactly what I’ve been experiencing. I’ve been in the super and hit one person 7 times with it but no kill

                        • "5.) crouching and making a precision kill to proc it’s neutral perk is not viable at all" Yes it is. I've done it a bunch in pvp, never had a match it didn't proc a reasonable amount, mid slide counts as crouching by the way. For how strong it is, needing to fineness it a little bit makes sense. Crouching as you shoot the final shot is also fair game, like, the split second you do it. I agree with super complaints, 99% of it's catch up potential is attack spam, but the problem is the super runs out too fast. The neutral is great though, in both game types.

                          • I think the flawless execution is perfectly balanced as all things should be. I mean it isn’t hard to kill someone with a headshot while crouched, and the reward is invis and WALLHACKS. Hit registration is wonky and should be fixed. But i don’t think that damage is an issue. Movement speed could get a buff, but only while you’re invis in super. The duration is fine, you can easily wipe out a team in however long it lasts, and being invis extends not to mention the exotic gwisin vest that lets you retain more super energy by going invis after you get a couple kills.

                              • I agree that the hit registration could be better. Also, the crouching to proc flawless executioner is kind of annoying but I've gotten in the habit of sliding and immediately landing a precision blow as it seems there is a slight delay from the end of the slide to when you can no longer proc the perk.

                              • Im more upset that of my 9 new supers most are just mild changes to existing supers. I find that to be extraordinarily boring and in poor taste of bungie to advertise NEW when they are just slight variations.

                              • Where you said it doesn’t one shot kill in pvp. You attack so fast the game doesn’t register until the second or third hit. But it’s one shot And there’s an exotic called gwisin vest it think that makes it when you get kills and then do the heavy invis attack. When you turn invis. It depends on how many kills you got to how much super energy you get back when you go invis
