With all the people claiming this game is dead and the number reports coming in, it is hard to see them come back from this.
New games have taken away so many people and more great games will be releasing this year.
I love destiny, but I'm in a constant state of fear that something I loved will disappear into a memory of what not to do in the game industry.
I pray for this games success.

I wish I could say the same. I loved D1 thru all the years, even with all it's problems I never stopped playing. D2 came out and I was super excited for it and it looked awesome, but as I played it was just boring. Weapons were boring, the item designs were boring, and the Strikes were boring. They may come back from this, but idk if I will ever come back to the Destiny universe. I hope so, I really so but we shall see

1 ReplyEdited by JHarv: 2/2/2018 3:26:32 PMI didn't either! But look at it this way. It wasn't mistakes made by a team of engaged, compassionate devs. These were deliberate choices made by devs who do not give a shit. It's all about maximizing profits with a minimally viable product. Buy the game, spend on Eververse, and leave. That's all they care about. They don't engage with the community, when they do its with a snarky arrogance or sarcasm and passive aggression. The game is never going to change unless the team changes. They have bad writers, Sandbox designers, fundamentally flawed progression and endgame systems, sluggish updates full of bandaid fixes, and no desire to make the experience about player fun. It will never be what we want it to be. So it's time to just walk away and not look back. We all fell in love with the initial vision of Destiny. It's never going to happen. Never.

So this is what happened ... Destiny: Oh boy, I sure do love being a successful game with lots of fun and interesting features. Bungie: *stab * stab Not today little Destiny. mwah haha Destiny: Why ... Bungie: $$$ Destiny fanbase: Why? Oh, ah because we misinterpreted what you guys wanted and will be making things right over the course of 7 years.

I want it to die. The game sucks
-
Sorry bro, mhw and the incompetence of this fraud company killed it already, who the heck would be so idiot to buy any more dlcs
-
Time to stop mourning and move on. It was never good to begin with.
-
Me either man. But if they don't make pvp more fun and a truly fun pve game we may have to watch as it falls. They need to balance loot, grind, and mechanics, which I'm not sure they know how.
-
3 Replies''deleted a big wall of text'' it comes down to this. bungie is incompetent and will never be able to make something great out of this... just think about this. they had 3 years of d1, 3 years of information, 3 years of community ideas.......... AND THEIR BIGGEST SELLING POINT WAS ''CLANS''.... and on top of that, they just keep doing what they did during those 3 years of d1.... putting on a big ass strap on, and bent their customers.

Destiny 3 is either going to be the best game ever produced , or not be made . What a wierd thing .

15 RepliesEdited by Dezzie19: 2/2/2018 7:37:03 AMWe never want to leave loved ones, but there comes a point in the relationship were it's one sided and abusive. Hoping against hope only worsens the realisation when it finally hits home. We all fall into the trap of thinking it will get better, it rarely does. Then you think of all the time and money invested and dont want to accept it was a waste. The only way out of this predicament is to walk away and don't look back.

I don't want Destiny to die either. But I think it might already be dead, and I do not mean that in the "This game sucks" sense. When it comes down to it I played D1 for three reasons. Good core mechanics, awesome lore, and a truly amazing raiding experience. Currently the game is missing all three. They are working on core mechanics like the movement update and the whispers of changes to the weapon system. The current raids are not great because the core mechanics are not great. So both of those might improve. Eventually. Maybe. However, the lore is dead and the new writing team is completely inept. Ghauls story was maybe 4/10 and we learned nothing and nothing changed. How the -blam!- do you flip the switch on the traveler and have NOTHING change? COO was 2/10 and the two points come from not having to listen to Nolanroid for the entire 90 mins. Mercury was supposed to generate a sense of mystery and it completely failed to do that. For there to be mystery I have to be curious about something. However, having read the grimore, the fact that COO retconned a ton of stuff for no reason, the infinite waste of potential, and the fact no new territory was covered the only question I had was 'Why is this so bad?' I mean they told you the secret behind the infinite forest before you even walk inside for God's sake. What's mysterious about that? Compare this to the vault of glass. The vault of glass was a better mystery in every respect. Even the name is better because it begs the question, "What's in the vault." The answer even though it was not lore related was great. "The Mythoclast is in the vault." Even in the Aethon fight we do more time traveling then we do in all of COO. We travel to the past and ask what were the Vex doing here? We travel to the future and and ask why did the Vex let all this decay? In COO we travel to a simulated past and are immediately told why we are there. This kind of narrative hand holding does not allow the story to speak for itself, and prevents the player from becoming more invested. So while the game may eventually have some fun coop PVE and PVP stuff to do, I am not invested in this new universe that is being created by the writing team. Both new stories and the comics are absolute garbage that show only a superficial understanding of the characters and events being portrayed. That deep draw of potential does not exist anymore even if the game recovers. So the original vision of Destiny that so hooked me in D1 is dead. The franchise might live on, but Destiny is dead.

Just stay off the forums and play the game. If you enjoy it that’s all that matters. Don’t get caught up in all the drama, think for yourself and make your choices based on what you want.

1 ReplyEdited by PhraustStryke: 2/2/2018 3:12:26 PMI get it, I enjoy the memory of Destiny and what I remember compared to what it is are now two different things, literally. Destiny as flawed as it was, to me felt like what it should be at AoT. Yes it wasn’t perfect but it was a hell of a lot better than what it was at launch. Then like any bad relationship something changes and you grow apart. The changes made to the fundamental aspects of Destiny into Destiny 2 are shocking. Bungie made changes to D2 for the sake of themselves and not the player, it was selfish and egotistical. We feel those changes, the magic is gone, and so is the fun, now it’s just no longer a joy to be part of this world. I can explain all my reasons why I don’t like D2 but at some point, you have to acknowledge that the horse is already dead and walk away. With that said I may not spam grief or toxicity all over the forums like others do, yet at the same time I’m not playing the game either. Next reset will be my 30 day mark away from Destiny and I still have no desire to return to it at all. I already paid for the season pass so I’ll load back in for the next DLC, and put it down when I am done three hours later for good. Nothing, nothing will bring me back to this, not game but developer. Bungie made this s*** show and I’m tired of smelling the crap. They have lost touch with the player base, in turn the player base has lost faith in Bungie. They do not invest in the veteran players so they have to market to new players. Yet how many times can they screw over new players before there is no one left to get screwed? It may be the digital age but word of mouth is still very powerful. Veteran players will promote a game for free and get bring in new players if they are having fun and enjoying the experience, in turn the game grows. Instead what we have is an unhappy player base with voiced concerns that some have gone unanswered since launch of D1, the vault for example. So veterans are not bringing in their friends because of this, and those friends are not bringing in their friends because of that, than the game needs to be changed. Changed in such a way that will stop the bleeding and begin the healing. Bungie needs to stop selfishly investing in themselves and instead invest in us. You don’t need a new game to thrive, you just need a good game. People will always eat at a new restaurant, yet come back if it’s good or close the doors if it is not. Players are the same they will always play the newest game just to put it down when the next new game releases, but will always come back and continue to play the good ones. If you build it, they will come. What’s messed up is that we know, we know, that D3 is in the works. So why should we play D2 at all when they are just going to reset our progress again for the third game, for the third time?

Yea, there are a lot of people that don't play the game anymore. But this is a special game to me and I know that the people that still play it will not let it die. I promise that I'll do my best to not let this game die.

It was definitely a massive letdown to be sure game was wayyy overhyped and Luke smith drew on d1’s fame to promote d2 then quietly ran away with his tail between his legs when the fans were furious

Edited by Darth Lunchbox: 2/2/2018 2:37:20 PMIt's not going anywhere. It will change, but it's not going anywhere.

2 RepliesIve already lost the game I loved, and that was Destiny 1. Its too late for D2, that died for me months back. Its not just about how the game turned out for me, but how they lied about the XP amongst other things and tried to cover it up. Now I just dont trust them and dont see Bungie in the same way anymore sadly.

Destiny 2 has only started... At this point in D1 we had VoG and Crota yes. But the actual expansions come out September and later. (I. E. The taken king) I think it will go down D1/D3/D2 for best to worse in my guess. Nothing will beat the feeling of getting gjallahorn, ice breaker or moonhawk. Just like any other vice... You'll need more and more.

23 RepliesNew content will drop, people will come back. Those who don't come back will be replaced by new guardians joining the Destiny world with those expansions. As prices drop (as they always do) more folks will come looking to see what all the hoopla was all about. Destiny 2 has a solid campaign - significantly better than Destiny 1. There is actually quite a bit to do until you hit the wall. The wall is when you finish collecting gear/weapons and hit the max power level. From there on out you make your own fun (or not) until the next expansion drops. PvP needs help to make it more exciting and bring back the streamers (i.e. old weapon stratification and reduced TTK). There is too much balance making it too boring. Also we need back the old D1 maps. There are not enough maps of the quality we had in D1. Trials of the Nine is too much a "members only" club. Trials of Osiris in Destiny 1 was still accessible to "normal" players by virtue of the bounties/rewards. It is not this way any longer and currently the domain of the sweaty paid carry streamers. I am confident that things will change over time - QoL improvements and content expansions will turn D2 into a game worth playing for years.

Edited by Dominator of Oats: 2/2/2018 1:21:53 PMLook, even if Destiny 2 was amazing, it is a fact that some of the greatest games of the past few years came out in the last 8 months. People would still have been playing these other games. Folks will come back to Destiny 2. Bungie can afford to wait because it still offers a crossover genre that hasn't been beat. Those other games give people a lot of one flavor. If you notice, it's not people flocking to one game, but 5 or so. Destiny tries to do a mix of everything and that's something no one else has. The Division will just never grab some people because shooting humans with 100 bullets doesn't make sense to them. Warframe is a fun game, but it's third person and for some people that's a no thank you. Fortnite and PubG are super fun, for sure, but unless you like to build (the former) or are okay with stinking at the game repeatedly, you're unlikely to stick with it in the long term. Then you've got Mario Oddesy for the platform lovers (and we know some people that play this game hate platforming) and Breath of the Wild, which is a fantastic open world but has a limit to its combat depth. And if you don't like puzzles you're not going to like BOTW. Monster Hunter is great and has a solid grind to it, but it's not a shooter. They changed the shooting and the looting for Destiny 2. Once they fix those, which Bungie has done in the past, people will come back. It's just sad and weird we had to go through all of this again.

2 RepliesThing is, technically it shouldn’t be that bad. It’s in the state it is because of the haters hive mind syndrome. People hating for the sake of hating or because others do so they must follow in order to feel a form of accomplishment or to feel like they are a part of something. It’s in our nature as humans to act more as a group rather than as individuals. In Destiny 2’s case I could ask 10 different people the same question: “why do you hate D2” and I can almost guarantee that 7 out of those 10 people will come up with the same answer, something along the lines of “cuz Destiny is dead lol” or “cuz it sucks ass”. The remaining 3 will actually have a well developed opinion stating the game’s obvious flaws and proposing solutions to said flaws. So no. The game shouldn’t be in as bad of a state. The game has huge issues, some that are, quite frankly, so obvious that it makes us question why they are there in the first place. But the mindless hating or the “Dead game lol” mindset is purely made by people that, my apologies for the lack of a better term, act like “sheeps” instead of having an opinion of their own. One of the last gaming related “hate bandwagon” of this intensity was the hate mindset towards the Call of Duty Infinite Warfare’s trailer on YouTube. One of the most disliked trailers of all time for a game that honestly, was okay for what it was; a Call of Duty game. My statement will be further reinforced by possible reactions in the form of empty insults of some people at my reply to you, OP.

They shouldn’t made d2 at all and continue making dlc on d1 instead. Just saying, that’s where they went wrong 🤷🏻♂️
