Ok so I was thinking about how we could over hall or improve the mods system in Destiny 2.
After thinking about it we have a natural progression with how the mods could work, we have rare and legendary mods so how about exotic mods.
Firstly what would an exotic mod do?
Well with the exception of trials and raid weapons all the guns in the game have 1 tier 1 perk and 2 tier 2 perks.
A tier 1 perk could be anything from kill clip to full auto to clusterbombs.
A tier 2 perk would be armour piercing rounds or high calibre rounds.
So what if you could get the schematic to drop for an exotic mod from a raid chest (or other endgame activity)
Each schematic grants a tier 1 perk to a weapon, though not every exotic mod can be applied to every weapon. (sorry no full auto hand cannons)
To convert a schematic into an exotic perk you need to spend 25 legendary shards 10 weapon parts and 5 tier 1 perk weapon cores (i'll come up with a better name eventually)
What are tier 1 perk weapon cores? Well when you dismantle a weapon with dragonfly on it you get a dragonfly weapon core. So you will need to hunt down 5 weapons with dragonfly on the and dismantle them to get a 5 dragonfly weapon cores.
This would means multiple drops of the same weapon become useful.
Once you have unlocked an exotic perk it would go into the vault under exotics and can be re purchased by spending the same materials again allowing you to put dragonfly for example on multiple weapons.
This could help increase the endgame grind, as you would need to repeatedly farm the raid/trials to get the schematics to drop and could allow some pretty awesome weapon rolls such as a scout rifle with triple tap and full auto or a rocket launcher with cluster bombs and kill clip.
Anyways just one of the ideas i've had what do you guys think?

6 Replieswow it sure would be great if bungie took this idea and improved on it, but if they were to even notice that this was here and took this and put it in their game, how much fun would we get here? lets see here judging by their obsession to nerf all the good stuff and keep the exotics so under powered i think bungie wouldn't even care so much to give us real power. The only times we got real power was the damn vex mythoclast from yr 1, the yr 1 Gally,the promo lens, and yr one monte carlo back when we had 56 shots in our clips. if there is more weapons that gave us real power before they nerfed it feel free to add on this list.

1 ReplyI suggested something similar a while back, but that the exotic mods could have d1 exotic perks, like a plan c mod that let's a fusion charge instantly after drawing it, or high tracking rounds for a rocket

1 Replythe last thing we need is exotic mods, they would most likely be locked behind eververse anyway, despite affecting gameplay.

1 ReplyReally good idea but there should be someone variety in the buffs given and they should give an upgrade as the buff rather than a stat change otherwise they would be indistinguishable from masterworks
