Did anyone else notice they took down statistics for d1?
It's a funny thing really. D2 participation has plummeted, d1 logins have risen quite a lot recently.
I wonder why.
Not really.
All of us know why, but the fact that this information is hidden from plain view is highly suspect.
You want people to stop comparing the 2 games? Tough; Its a sequel, sequels almost always make the original look better. It is an axiom of development, at least, it should be.
I won't say I spend more time on d1 than d2, but I will say enjoy that time more.
I think the only reason the pc community hasn't torn bunjie/activi$ion apart is because they haven't plateaued like us on console.
When they do, arrows will fly.
When the pc community hits the drought, bunjie/activi$ion will wish arrows were the worst thing coming

Call of Duty and Battlefield haven’t released anything resembling an actual game for like 6 years now and they still make money hand over fist. Every year they repackage the same steaming pile of shit and make millions selling it. That’s what they intend to do with destiny. The taken king was a desperate grab to save credibility, but literally every other release they’ve made with destiny has been a lazy, hollow cash grab. Unfortunately, we all made the mistake of thinking destiny 2 was going to be another taken king level of evolution. Not only did destiny 2 fail to improve on the game, it actively made the game worse. It undid any positive change they made since vanilla destiny. I’m done with bungie and this shit franchise, they’ve used up their good faith. It seems like the only game studios left that actually care about making a great game are on Kickstarter. The rest of them just do what they need to maximize profits and keep the ass-patting dude-bros coming back every year. No offense if you’re a dude-bro or an ass-patter.

The PC guys are still in the honeymoon phase. Once that's over, the warts of the game will be very apparent. Then you will see the complaints come roaring out.

Most of us have reached close or max power and have already stopped playing and went to other games. this game is bland and very underwhelming. Boring is being nice. I know our clan with guys that we have been playing with for years have already stopped playing and only play on Tuesdays when it resets for a few hours just to hit milestones and do the raid, for why? nothing really. just to do it. don't worry i feel by this weekend that you will see tons of cannon balls being shot at bungie for the disgrace they took 3 years to produce.

Stood there. Bugger it, I'll take the advice of the great unwashed masses and go do a few strikes on D1. Idled over to Heroic Siva Strikes with my old worn out Solar 'Lock. (400 everything, including underpants!) Waited maybe a minute, and joined into Septic. What a shock to the system! Where the Hell did all these Grenades come from!! They seemed to generate faster then I could throw the buggers. Ah! the Mods! "Grenades recharge on melee hits" and "Grenades recharge on Grenade hits" and, the kicker, (Helmet I think) "Grenades recharge faster then D2 grenades, because D2 Grenade recharge times are bullshit." And Supers! Orb city! What a blast. Chucked 'nades at them fkrs and watched them burn! Stayed, and did Tannix (always fun!) the Blues Brothers ( Just 2 of us. He/she was great!) and Alla-Cool of Black Cutlery fame. All in an hour or less, and really great fun! I admit, I'd forgotten what the real difference was with D1 and D2. It's not easy to tell why D1 is fun, and D2 is not. I'd say that in D1, there seems to be more ads and more full on, but you seem to have the means to defeat them. An Auto or Scout rifle, a Fusion or HC or Sniper, and a Launcher or Sword. [i]This is not available in D2!![/i] Can't have a Fusion and Launcher! Can't have a Sniper and Launcher! Can have two Scouts though, which is handy... And of course Supers and Grenades for all intents and purposes, are non-existent in D2, but are just plain bare-arsed fun in D1. And you could see progress! The Boss's health was being whittled away at visible rate, depending on what you hit him with. They sure buggered up a lot of good stuff in D2, didn't they?

Destiny 1 Xbox players will sign in, like myself, to get other guns (PS exclusivity died mid-October) so we got a strike, three exotics to get, and that Sector XXX map in crucible. I enjoy Destiny 2, but when weeklies are all done? I have an entire other game to complete as well. That and there is respective elements Destiny 2 won't have right off the bat like SIVA, Crota, crucible activities, old Tower festivities, ect. so it's fun to be able to login and enjoy those areas we want to play.

True. I had a big post about this on the topic of DTR’s hilariously pathetic attempt to stop the so called “false narrative” of the daily population when those plummeting numbers were trending on the forums. Next logical step, suppress any way to locate and prove that D2 players are all returning to the original Destiny to play a game that isn’t a complete dumpster fire. And just as an aside, anyone else noticed how shitty DTR for D2 is now? It’s a complete shell of what it used to be. Go figure.

All the Bioshock games got incrementally better with each sequel. Destiny seems to be moving in the opposite direction.

1 ReplyProbably the thing that upsets me most about this franchise. Become legend... until the next sequel comes out. Oh, and the previous game more or less never happened. I mean even 343 STILL has my stats from Halo 2. HALO. FRICKIN'. 2. That was YEARS ago but Bungie can't hold on to stats compiled over the past three years? Laughable. No further information on the mysterious stranger. No word on the reef. Nothing on Rasputin. :/

PC will probably hold people a little longer than console did just because it is more fluid and more guns are viable in the crucible (looking at you hand cannons)

Well, for me, games always followed a pattern, even the great ones. You buy the game, you love the game, you play the hell out of the game, you put the game away and play a new game. Destiny was the first time i put thousands of hours into a game. So i guess it depends on how many of the pc crowd played destiny one. The players who didn’t might be okay with destiny 2, they got a hundred or so hours in, then the game got boring. Life as usual. But the ones who played destiny one might, like most of us, be pissed.

Those numbers go up and down. Wait until Osiris and The Dawning, they will go up again. Too many people were making a big deal out of it - myself included. But the game will continue to live.

1 ReplyYeah, you're like a week or two late to the discussions that happened already. Also it was entirely DTR's choice to take them down. It had nothing to do with Bungie. When the pc community hits "the drought", it'll be a week or two before the next DLC and everybody will be looking forward to it, not complaining about a drought.
