Honestly, the game just released. You can't say there are no factions and there is a lack of content. They are literally adding that stuff now. Stop complaining and be patient.

Should stuff like that be in the game at launch though? Destiny 1 had factions at the start.

I think them adding factions a month after launch was almost a chronological choice. It wouldn't make sense if they were at the beginning of the game, only after a little bit.
