Anybody else getting sick of this excuse from Luke Smith?
You had 3 years to figure out what you wanted Destiny to be. You had many years before that when you announced at E3 that Destiny was supposed to be this rich, cinematic adventure where "we could go to that mountain over there" so we'd throw our money at our screens.
And still, he continues to use the same tired "we have ideas that we're excited about, but they may not be ready in time because of our deadlines" rhetoric.
Either Bungie devs are incompetent and can't manage to meet deadlines, or the deadlines are unreasonable and Bungie can't realistically get their work done in time. Either way, it's bad for customers, and I'm beginning to think it's the former. It's 2017, and a Destiny 2 release won't have custom games and other core features at launch. More is being removed from the game than added or expanded upon. Luke's response to "since there are no stat rolls to chase, how are people going to stay engaged and grind?" is "we have ideas, but right now we're focused on the launch deadline." I can't help but be skeptical and feel like this is going to be yet another incomplete game at launch.
What a joke.
The game has been in Beta since its production began in 2010. Only now are they finding a way to use the European Dead Zone and Cabal raid that were cut out of VANILLA. But they feel their deadline (which was already delayed by a year) is rushed and we won't get all of the features we should have (custom matches, for example) right away..

I'm going to give it a year or two. I don't want to purchase 5 dlc's that last a few hours long.

1 Replysometimes i think Luke Smith want's people to hate him.

6 RepliesBest thing to do is wait till they have packaged a bunch of the D2 DLCs and buy it then. Then you will be purchasing the complete game. They showed their blueprint for releasing content in year 1, you have every reason to wait and get it all for cheap. Many of my friends are doing that.

Here are your options: 1. -blam!- you, I'm Luke Smith

2 RepliesDeadlines are contractual. They suck but they're a big deal. Missed deadlines can result in lost income and people getting fired.

7 RepliesYou should be careful with comments like this. Fanboys will eat you alive.

Edited by Val44: 7/4/2017 1:39:47 PMThey are destroying both pvp AND pve in an effort to go towards e-sport. They are making an exciting shooter more boring by restricting movement abilities and slowing down the pace to make it more casual. At the same time they are eliminating the RNG aspect on guns for certain perks even though anyone with a little time invested into the game will have his / her G roll handcannon or whatever and if not the bungie just sells the pallindrom with g rolls 3 weeks in a row . No excuse honestly. They screwed up. Not buying.

Yeah I thought it was a piss poor excuse as well. I don't care how hard coding Is, pound salt and get the thing figured out

1 ReplyI can't wait for the release of Destiny 3, so we can play all of the Destiny 2 "cut content".

2 RepliesEdited by Xenomorph: 7/4/2017 12:57:09 AMSo.... What is the name of the game you're responsible for creating? I'd love to play it. It must be flawless huh? With 20/20 foresight being the key factor in its success. So while you were creating and releasing DLC's, tuning the game and improving the in game "quality of life", tell me... How did you manage to find the time to make the sequel into the perfect entity that it is?

Maybe they will lower the drop rates of legendaries... I really don't know but I hope they will find a good way of creating more reasons to play more.... I always thought blue weapons should be more common than legendaries but legendaries were raining since TTK period. Hope they will find a way that will motivate people to play inc myself...

Some features would never be put into the game when it is first released. A developer will always hold some things back either because they are not quite ready or because they want to drip feed content. Developers will always have too many ideas to fit in the schedule / budget. Some may make it through. Some will come later. Some will be scrapped. That's just the way things are on any big engineering project (whether it's software or construction) As far as features being drip fed between dlcs. That's just marketing.

10 RepliesYou've never actually run a huge, complex project before, have you?

They honestly pulled in Insomniac Games... Resistnace: Fall of Man was amazinng. Resistance 2 was alright. Resistance 3 just plain sucked. Same thing is going to happen to the Destiny series.

The mountain quote, really? You're still on that?

Gonna go ahead and skip most part of this game.

5 RepliesAll they care about is how they can be relevant for Twitch and Eververse

Totally agree. We are consumers , not devs. We base our decisions on the product we pay our money for. All the deluded morons on here defending devs , need to take a long hard look at themselves. Dev boys know there getting bent over , but can't help themselves .

1 ReplyThats why i am planning on waiting for a long time, i mean way rush into the game at launch when it is so disappointingly lackluster. I thought a brand new game will give it the proper revamping the game is screaming to have. some people are saying that it is hard to make games and yadda yadda but that doesn't change the end result, which is not satisfactory.

They should have had whatever "ideas" to keep it fresh and exciting in place and solidified before ever going forward with removing random perks. I don't know how their management team could possibly approve such a decision without an answer in place. Random perks were a huge chunk of what kept people playing for so long. That being said, I can see the benefits of removing rng perks, whether it was a wise decision or not we will just have to wait and see.

A Cabal raid was never cut. It was always going to be the Vault. Unless you count Charlemagne's Vault, but god know what that was. All we know was that it took place on Mars and you got Thorn from it. Most likely an area featured in a quest line, and not an actual raid.

You have no idea what deadlines and stresses that dude has. Quit bitching at him and look at the real problem. ACTIVISION
