"We're up against a deadline"
Anybody else getting sick of this excuse from Luke Smith?
You had 3 years to figure out what you wanted Destiny to be. You had many years before that when you announced at E3 that Destiny was supposed to be this rich, cinematic adventure where "we could go to that mountain over there" so we'd throw our money at our screens.
And still, he continues to use the same tired "we have ideas that we're excited about, but they may not be ready in time because of our deadlines" rhetoric.
Either Bungie devs are incompetent and can't manage to meet deadlines, or the deadlines are unreasonable and Bungie can't realistically get their work done in time. Either way, it's bad for customers, and I'm beginning to think it's the former. It's 2017, and a Destiny 2 release won't have custom games and other core features at launch. More is being removed from the game than added or expanded upon. Luke's response to "since there are no stat rolls to chase, how are people going to stay engaged and grind?" is "we have ideas, but right now we're focused on the launch deadline." I can't help but be skeptical and feel like this is going to be yet another incomplete game at launch.
What a joke.
The game has been in Beta since its production began in 2010. Only now are they finding a way to use the European Dead Zone and Cabal raid that were cut out of VANILLA. But they feel their deadline (which was already delayed by a year) is rushed and we won't get all of the features we should have (custom matches, for example) right away..

D2 should have been a 60$ expansion to D1, more gear, more places, new faces, and a proper separation from PvE and PvP. If they are taking away gun rolls in D2, then they could have just disabled perks in PvP, allowing weapons to retain their glory in PvE. The new subclasses could have been a power swap mechanic based of something like light attuning that is done at certain locations in game. Had the story elaborated on things like the fallen dynasty that broke apart, the stranger, or the reef wars, then the game's value would go up. If they introduced the class abilities and made class specific quest lines and gameplay such as titans defending the wall, hunters going on the hunt, or warlock channeling the mysterious forces things would be better. D2 would have been better expanding off of D1's untapped potential rather then tossing 3 years of build up aside. Then again, I'm just a day one player that reads the grimoire, what do I know...

Bungie is taking 2 steps forward and 5 steps backwards. They are making the game so basic. They watered down subclasses, they removed random weapon rolls, they changed the weapon system that was perfect as is, and they limited the pvp to 4v4 only. I'm still going to give it a shot but my interest is decreasing by the day

I wouldn't be so hard on the guy. They're trying to keep whatever secret(s) they have left in the game for the sheep to discover. Although knowing Bungie and our experience with previous content releases, what we saw is more than likely what we'll get. 😞

Reforging was a good way to balance the game even though it should be alot more expensive to roll weapons . These new changes are deliberate and they very well know about the impeeding consequences and the impact that they will have on the game. The changes are all horrible for the fun factor , so i believe Destinys prime will be over when the second installment drops. We have a group of 8 people in our small circle and i know for a fact that 50% of them have either cancelled their preorder or wont buy D2 because of what Bungie showed and communicated . They feel cheated and do not wanna be suckered . The way i see it Destiny 2 will fail ....miserably.

15 RepliesThe main problem is that this excuse is used for very important aspects of the game. Mainly the lack of ranked PvP but more importantly for the fact that every gun will have the same perks....removing one of the main reasons for the games replayability for the main reason people play a liter shooter. The last thing you want to hear about the core game elements, loot and repeatability, is that they "have awesome ideas but we don't know of they will be in the game". Seriously....this IS your game and you don't know if it will be actually in it. It should have been the FIRST thing you thought about and build.

6 RepliesThere will always be features that will get cut, and there is a lot of thought of what has to be in the game and what doesn't. If they think that the time it would take to set up custom games would be better spent polishing a raid, or improving the latency in multiplayer, then it should go there. Not to mention that they were limited with Destiny 1 on the last gen consoles, and now they are developing for PC. There are a lot of complex moving parts that go into this then you think. I personally don't think that Destiny 1 was "incomplete" at all when it launched. It was very polished, and was an amazing experience with tons of fun stuff to do with your friends. There will always be bugs at launch, that's just how it works. You can't possibly expect to catch everything while you are in production, especially in a game with the level of complexity and depth that Destiny has.

The issue here is going after one of the FUNDAMENTAL design pillars of Loot-based RPGs in a misguided bid to turn the Crucible into an E-sport (apparently).... ...while giving FAR too little though to what the ramifications of that RADICAL change will have on the rest of the game...and PVE replayability in particular. Watching Bungie CONTINUE to risk destroying this game in a misguided effort to resurrect Halo's glory days is MADDENING. Everytime I think they've learned something from their prior mistakes....they make a death-defying LEAP BACKWARDS. Usually in a vain effort to make Pvp "competitive". They stubbornly refuse to accept that fact that you can't force a competitive shooter and a loot-based RPG to share the same gear system. ...and they aren't succeeding at it. They are just slowly, and systematically destroying the RPG in favor of the competitive shooter. Where we're likely to wind up with a game that is just an elaborate campaign shooter with a few extra moving parts.

Your post makes it sound like you hate Destiny and Bungie yet your characters have determined that was a lie Destiny isn't the first game you have played right? Plenty of games have stuff added to the game after it launches because it didn't make it in time for launch because of deadlines. Maybe they feel those features arent important to have at launch? Maybe those feature wouldn't work with the flow with Destiny 2. Who knows not me not you. Unless you happen to work at Bungie. At least Luke Smith said that it might come just not at launch. He could have said nothing and maybe that would have been a better. But I am sure other people would complain about him not saying anything. Any how, at the end of the day its a game its meant to be fun. An escape from are everyday problems. If Destiny 2 is getting you so heated maybe its time for you to move on

The biggest thing that pisses me off is the weapon loadout changes, that cater to PvP. Two primaries and 1 heavy/special weapon is gonna ruin PvE. Damage output is gonna be shit. Who the -blam!- thought this was a good idea?

Activision have announced they're bringing in other Developers to help Bungie with ccontent/events etc. Looks like D2 will be another unfinished mess.

Well I'm excited for Destiny 2, if you're smart you'll pay the extra $20 and get the freaking private matches when they come out. Honestly what's the point in whining about private matches? Who can honestly say they load up destiny to get on a private match? I only use private matches for Gunsmith guns and that's it. No RNG weapons is great for balance, if they add a massive stockpile of guns, and lower the drop rates then nobody will notice anything, Destiny 2 will be a great and amazing game, I'm 100% sure of that. Everybody is tired of Bungie but I'd love to see you work on a game, half of you complaining probably don't even know the simplest of coding so sit down, and stop spreading your cancerous garbage on these forums, if you want to criticize the game do it in a professional manner, give alternatives rather than blaming Bungie, yes they made the game, but nobody is perfect, and people make mistakes, so leave it alone. If not, I'll be taking my fight to the Cabal while your off in some other universe doing God knows what.

I like how he uses the deadline for an excuse yet bungie pushed forward the release date. Clearly they are good to go and have time but would rather slowly trickle in the rest of the game so they can get as much playtime, money, and praise for the least amount of work.
