We all hear about how we are starting destiny 2 with nothing we had in Destiny 1 but that simply isn't true. Some of you maybe not many may be like me in that you started Vanilla destiny with nothing and that includes friends. I struggled through the story and strikes without a single person on my friends list until 1 day someone added me and i made my first connection leading to my first nightfall "carry" then i was introduced to his friends and got a raid "carry" and meeting those people's friends until we get to 3 years later where i have met some of my best friends from places ranging throughout the United States all the way over to England and Ireland. So when Destiny 2 comes around I'll be in a hell of a better place and far more prepared then dinklebot and I were back then thanks to the network of guardians at my side always willing to join the fray.
Hope some of you can relate.
Update I'm amazed this got on the trending page thanks for all the positive feedback

We won't have Dinklebot...

I found a bunch of people at the end of year 1 although I'm not friends with em anymore so I'll have to rely on LFG :(

That's awesome man. Yea, i went from solo player when i started about a week after launch then about January '15 i got a random invite from a clan and they carried me through vog. Showed me everything. I was hooked after that! Played vog and ce weekly along w nf. New people every week usually but friends list grew from 0 to over 100 fast. Then? Sadly when TTK came out and blistering nerf hit pve along w all the fun raid guns and gear being left in the past. So, bacl to solo casual player i went. Sorry fpr debbie downer lol, but i had so much fun up till ttk itbwas all worth it. I'll add one thing: bungie, PLEASE separate pvp and pve in every single way conceivable for D2! PvP would be happier and god knows pve schmucks like me would be so fn happy Have a good one, guys n gals!

Started this game with nothing. Still have most of it...

1 ReplyOpposite here. Went in with a few handfuls of friends and only a couple play it consistently and its really only for Iron Banner and Raids. Most of the people I know stopped after Dark Below...

I want a completely new experience again. The wonder I had learning about this game, not knowing how things completely worked when going into VoG made it so much better than I could have imagined. I will never get that feeling from destiny again and that makes me sad. I don't think I will ever like a destiny game as much as this one because it was my first trip into a fantastic universe. I want to start with nothing again. I will probably play through the story by myself then join up with my friends when I enter farm mode and only do strikes and raids

What they meant was you dont get a story you silly wabbit.

I couldn't have said it any better. People can bash this game but I've made life long friends walking around social zones and shooting aliens in the head. I can't wait to bring them to D2 with me.

2 RepliesGood luck to you and your fire team! Hope you have a fun next few years.
before we all get nuked by a war run by idiots.
We start D2 with a dinklebot.

1 ReplySo many people mentioning how they "made new friends" playing this game, then there's me that already had the friends I was playing this with and they've all since quit.
-
6 RepliesI relate! Although I'm gonna play the first few hours alone, because I like to enjoy the music, take my time admiring the scenery (dude, when I first came out of the Wall and looked up to those northen lights... I was in awe and stayed there for at least 5min just staring at it) and my friends will be too hyped to keep their mouths shut lol
-
2 RepliesI'm in the opposite boat, I started this game with 4 friends, but they all said "-blam!- you!" and left me...
-
1 ReplyI like this post. And i agree. If i didnt still have friends playing this game, i wouldnt be playing much either. The grind is always easier with friends.

Edited by Hurphy: 5/8/2017 6:27:30 PMOpposite effect. I started with lots of buds and as the game went on and turned to shit they all left

I came into Destiny with 2 friends, and at the end of the tunnel I came out with 9. This game is a love hate relationship with me no doubt, but the thing I'm the most thankful for is meeting these awesome guys I Raid and (unfortunately) do Trials with!

Edited by liam..: 5/8/2017 2:09:00 PMTruth... and I don't mean the rocket launcher. Best thing about Destiny is the friends I've made. I have a core of about 10 people that I have played with since VOG dropped. VoG made me put myself out there and make friends. I've had quite a few quit Destiny and I just end up meeting more.
-
4 RepliesNot here. Few friends I had that played destiny quit. And I've yet to find a group to continually do raids with that didn't expect you to know how to complete them before your first. I'll be here for destiny 2 gladly.. But my fiends list will most likely not say destiny a lot.

1 ReplyWe play destiny, therefore we have no friends
-
*removes friends list and co-op*

I actually started off from nothing and this was after doing the beta testing with friends. Ever since day one, I've been pretty much lone wolfing everything until I get randomly invited to help other players or from clanmates or some friends that also started the game too. Ever since then, I had no help, had to do everyone on my own and pretty much had nothing but a Hunter character for about 5 weeks in. Haven't made a Titan or Warlock yet...not until the ordeal with raid boss pushing with solar nades, that's when I made both Titan and Warlock for that purpose xD
-
1 ReplyThey already confirmed that they'll be removing your friends too. Sorry ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Since its a fresh start and Gary is destroying the armory, why not change the Titan's mark from that ugly ass butt cape to something more bad ass? Maybe a bandana or something. Make Titans look like Rambo. Or an eyepatch so they look like Hannibal the Great. When I see a Titan with a butt cape all I see is a girl serving coffee at Starbucks.
