I wouldn't expect any changes to the match making anytime soon. If they are going to change anything involving SBMM, it'll be in Destiny 2.

4 RepliesWill these posts ever stop? It's a game, built by a company, they are not having a vote on matchmaking on the forums. Even if "the community" was the forum (it's not) and even if the whole forum agreed with you about SBMM (it doesn't), they decide what to do with that information, and they decided to leave it as it is for now. Just get over it please, it's been like a month.

Its plain and simple. Just do what you like and engage in the activities you enjoy in this game. If the excessive lag in Ib and regular crucible is spoiling your fun then by now you really should have realised that Bungie will not sacrafice their SBMM . Trails is still playable even though there is also lag there but not as often . I can only advise you to buy another game and drastically reduce playtime on Destiny. Its the ONLY language they understand. I have bought BF1 and havent encountred lag ever . And thats way larger maps and 4 times the amount of players in the lobby. Sure you will run into teams where you will lose by a landslide but then its rare since there is maximum of 5 players in 1 group . You could potentially have many friends join but then its not at all guaranteed that they will be able to fight on your side. Matter of fact its highly unlikely. There is no K/D madness there either since that doesnt really matter all that much . You can go 50-0 and still be ranked lower than someone who went 1-20 . Captures and objectives play a huge part. I have almost 3500 hours invested in Destiny and i never saw the end comming but this SBMM crap and the policy to have everyone get everything easy , plus the insignificance of the new raid and the lackluster raidguns ( which are also given out like candybars) made me quit. I will play a bit of trails now and then but thats it. I may even quit that as well . This week i could break through a hundred lighthouse visits and that may just be enough for me. No need to chase after armor they will give away like candy later ( parias gear) . The utter arrogance on their behalf have sort of sealed the deal for me.

It's evident that they won't change anything until at least Destiny 2 and even then they still might not. It's like an abusive relationship where you people keep going back to the abuser for the few moments when it feels good.

People seem to be under the impression that Bungie refuses to fix it. Have you considered that they can't fix it because the netcode is so fundamentally broken and been that way from launch? And I do agree that they've managed to make it worse over time - possibly through some unintended bugs in the code - but it was never good and is now also seeing the consequences of a dwindling playerpool.

5 RepliesThat looks like about 80% of the Trials matches I've played where there is no SBMM. I really give zero poops whether there's SBMM in the game or not, but I don't think it's the big problem here. I think the rise of the red bar warrior has more to do with a smaller player pool in PvP. I would say I'm only a slightly above average PvP player, so logically you would expect the pool of players I should be matched with under an SBMM system would be reasonably large and yet there is almost always several players in my matches either yellow or red bar and on rare occasions I'm the guy with the yellow or red bar, though I suspect that has more to do with me playing till 3-4am when most people on my side of the world have gone to bed already. There's a lot more competition in the FPS space than there was when Destiny first arrived and a lot of the player base have likely jumped over to other games. You see this with every FPS game given enough time. Destiny is getting towards the latter end of its life cycle. i don't think there's much they can do to improve the system outside of having dedicated servers (though this wouldn't fully fix the problem either), but I can't see them making that investment this late in the cycle. I think its something that we either have to deal with, or play something different.
