Overwatch Base Game $40
Origin Edition $60
Only Origin Edition available for Console
Extra $20 nets 5 Legendary Skins
$20 difference in Microtransactions nets 24 loot creates.
Opening 24 loot creates is RNG based, so results vary.
My Cousin got 1 legendary skin and enough currency to buy 2 more Legendary skins along with many lesser items.
Over half of the lesser items were for characters he did not care for.
My Conclusion:
$40 is still not quite fair value content wise but I find the gameplay extremely engrossing so I was willing to pay a little more for a superbly crafted gaming experience.
$20 difference would be better served giving the player 5,0000 currency so that they could buy the Skins, Emotes, Poses and Audio that they like rather then forcing a set of skins on them.
What are your conclusions based on these numbers?

4 RepliesUK prices: Origins edition= £45 Regular= £40 (prices from the store, game)

3 RepliesEdited by Nihlus: 5/28/2016 4:40:35 PMI think of the extra $20 as some sort of a season pass. If there a wasn't any origins edition, there wouldve been paid DLC.

1 ReplyI'm not too fussed on the skins. I mean yeah it would be nice to have them but to spend money on them is silly in my opinion. I like playing the game so eventually I'm sure I'll unlock most of them.

2 RepliesI would love to have the game but 60 bucks for a tf2 clone is not worth it.

1 ReplyThis is very interesting math stuff

1 ReplyI do find it strange that they chose to make the micro transactions give loot boxes instead of currency. I suppose they want the "CoD approach" so you get a bunch of items you don't need and continue to buy loot crates until you get what you want.
-
2 RepliesConsidering the fact that there are going no to be free updates and dlc an expensive price is sorta understandable. I'm still going to wait until console get it for 40 though
-
11 RepliesI feel it's more than worth $60 anyways, skins or not. I see No reason why a game so unique, balanced, polished and enjoyable cannot be full price. I can already tell I'll be playing it for years.

1 ReplyI got it free so i'm not complaining, but the $60 price tag for consoles was way too much and those ugly skins and collectibles for games i don't even play at all are not worth $20. Sadly just like every single Shooter game rewards are now some kind of suprise boxes that give you shit until it gives you something good, not a fan of this new form of progression at all. The game is still an 8/10 too me, it will be a 9/10 when the free dlc starts coming.

Yeah the extra 20$ for only 5 skins is meh. But I don't blame them. Only real reason consoles are forced to keep their price around 60$ is because physical copies are still in high demand for console users. Which means they have to pay other people.

1 ReplyWhy in the F would anyone with half a brain buy some shit that can 100% be earned just by playing the game? On another side of this coin, if you buy most this junk with cash then ranking up won't matter, loot boxes are less cared about, the enjoyment level will go down and the game will be called boring as there's nothing left to strive for.
-
1 ReplyI'll wait until it's $40, I don't care about the extra skins and loot boxes, only the achievements/ps trophies matter to me, well and that the game doesn't suck.
-
3 RepliesEdited by Watcher1905: 5/27/2016 8:23:17 AMIt's a brilliant rip off tactic and people fall for it. This game only releases for me when it's 40 on consoles. Till then i'll treat as a game that's not out yet.

7 RepliesWhat do you get in the origins edition?
-
1 ReplyThe extra $20 bucks for origins edition is WAY over priced. $20 is half the price of the base game, yet that $20 doesn't even come close to adding 50% more new content.
-
6 RepliesI would pay $40 for the game when they add a competitive game mode to it. I don't care about skins and loot boxes, so the fact that the console version forces me to buy those pisses me off.
