Just got Thorn from Engram...max upgrade?
I've been reading all sorts of stuff on the upgrade of Thorn and the information is mixed. I've seen pictures of a 302 thorn but they refer to the exotic bounty. I have a thorn that I love from an engram from xur. It's at 160. What is the max upgrade for this and what is the best way about getting the best bang for the buck in an upgrade since I only have 1 exotic shard? I'm fairly new player so any links to exact data would be great.

3 RepliesYear 1 exotics will max out at 170. The thorn is a year 1 weapon with no year 2 version. Keep in mind some weapons that you get from year 1 can actually be purchase for a year 2 version at the exotic weapon kiosk. Those weapons will drop at 280 if purchase there. But currently the thorn has no year 2 version. Therefore the max attack is 170.

Upgrade it to lingering rounds and nothing else it's not a year 2 weapon don't waste your exotic shard lvling it up to max

1 ReplyThorn is one of the weapons locked at a Year One value of up to 170. Anything higher that you've seen is just a photoshop. If it's not in the Armory or in game, it's probably not real.

5 RepliesHello , firstly welcome to destiny , secondly , thorn is a year one exotic that was not carried forward with the 2.0.0 TTK update . The max stats for thorn would be 170 damage fully upgraded , anything you have seen image wise above these stats will be photoshopped, But on that note , in activities with no restrictions like regular crucible , it will put out the same damage as a year 2 hand cannon. Hope this helps

302 was under the vanilla or original light system. Under Year 2 the Thorn is still only a Year 1 exotic and therefore only upgradeable to 170 light.

Edited by AgentFortyTwo: 2/25/2016 6:19:55 PM170 is the maximum for Year 1 weapons. It's a great (and very unbalanced) hand cannon but really only relevant in Year 1 activities. Lots of folks still use it in Crucible.
