I'm a year one player since beta actually and you can't say sniping isn't a problem at the moment. Defend it all you want but how do we go from barely anyone sniping when the game came out and now everyone and their mothers are sniping? It's cause it's now incredibly easy to snipe. I used to suck at it but I recently started about a week ago and it's terribly easy to the point that I feel bad on some of my kills. Secondaries in general are a problem since people can use them as primaries all they want but you can't deny sniping has gotten incredibly easy.
Year one players (even newer players) just think. Even if you sniped since day one, you can tell how much more people are sniping now than back then

While I have noticed the up-tick, I prefer death by sniper over a shotgun to the face any day. I find the shift refreshing. At least when I'm about to be sniped there's a tell-tale scope glint out of the corner of my eye that gives me a warning and thus a chance to go "jump! Crouch! Slide! ANYTHING! just MOVE!" And perhaps save my own life. Much better than just "BANG!.....aw man, Felwinter's again?!"

Well if u have a class of students that play basketball and half of them r terrible shots but as time goes on they get better why is that?
because practice and experience
-
My opinion is that all the shot guns kids are running around getting insta kills, and I won't be one of those guys so really my only option is to use a sniper some all the sidearms seem to suck, plus I'm not a very big fusion rifle fan. Not to much versatility with our special selection.
-
It was a matter of time. Who dont like one shot kills?
-
4 RepliesNot really, everyone had a sniper in year 1. The most used one was called felwinter's lie!
-
in year one boom -blam!- get out the way
year two well crap
-
I sniped all of year one, while everyone was running around like pollo loco's with felwinters. Nothing has changed with snipers. Now that ppl think shotguns will be ass, and everyone is going to snipers. I think I'll start shotgunning them while they're hardscoped.
-
2 RepliesTrials... Nobody sniped until trials, then everyone realised sitting backs and camping with snipers was the easiest way to flawless and so the reign of snipers began
-
Trials of Osiris. That first day of Trials was the first day I decided to use a sniper in the Crucible. Until now. I've been getting better and haven't put my snipers down since.
-
The fk? Sniping hasn't changed, it's just the amount of people. The only thing that made more people start sniping is "Hidden Hand"
-
I recall the felwinter sniper in year one pretty popular
-
It's not because sniping is easier all of the sudden. Nothing has changed about sniping since year 1. You just probably had a felwinters up your ass all of year 1 so you never attempted sniping.
-
3 RepliesBeen sniping since way way way before this meta and I can 100% tell you it doesn't feel much different than year one.
-
Sniping isn't the problem, the real problem is no de-scope and flinch is almost non existant. Such an easy solution, either add de-scope to snipers or increase the flinch mechanic while receiving incoming fire. Absolute child's play for a developer to implement.
-
I use snipers with low aim assist so ppl don't complain about how my sniper kills are with snipers tht have so much aim assist
-
People just moved to snipers after shotguns got nerfed
-
Just like RKO
-
People are finally starting to use snipers more often and other people start complaining that it's too powerful For shame
-
8 RepliesHas bungie changed sniping at all or are people just mastering it? I don't think aim assist is to blame for all the successful snipers out there. Old snipers had plenty of aim assist too. Are the scopes new? If they aren't, the class of weapon hasn't been changed since day one.
-
It has changed. I used to be able to nock their aim off enough with my automatic Gheleons Demise to kill them before they could re-correct, but as soon as TTK dropped they've been able to re-correct between my shots and still land a headshot.
-
I've said the same thing. Prepare for the incoming salt.
-
2 RepliesIt just annoys me because games are so much slower now. With shotguns someone would rush you and you could dodge them, but with snipers everyone is off in some corner aiming at a doorway
-
My counter is sniping the right way. I rush in with a low impact/ low AA sniper and get the cqc snipes. Takes more skill and is much more satisfying
-
Yes, Sniping takes no skill. It totally has nothing to do with Bungie nerfing every weapon that people use. It totally has nothing to do with weapons that aren't as on par never getting buffs. It is entirely because sniping takes no skill. On a side note, I hardly even use my secondary in a PvP match. Never really need to.
-
I still ruin kids days while they are hardscoping and they get domed by no land...
-
Maybe Bungie could make a pvp playlist that only allows primary legendary weapons. This will promote more engaging shootouts without the use of secondaries, heavy, or exotics such as NLB & U-Remote. This way everybody gets what they want without a nerf. Just a thought.
