Destiny is dying. It's really no secret. The average amount of time people spend on this game is trending downwards, rapidly. Many have moved on to other games, or at least spend a large portion of times on other games in comparison to when Destiny first came out through its first year. That is totally normal. People are burned out, and many day one players are beginning to "see the light".
Destiny is an egregious money grab. While it started this way, it has indeed progressively gotten worse. Many of us were caught hook, line, and sinker. We spent countless hours playing the SAME GODDAMN strikes and raids over. And over. And over again, eagerly awaiting the next expansion that promises to be "what we've been waiting for". You know, the one that is going to finally deliver the experience we all wanted from the beginning.
Then we slowly began to realize... This game will never, EVER be the game we had envisioned. And guess what? Bungie began to realize that we had caught on. So what did they do? Release meaningful content? Expand at all on this shell of a game? Address the overwhelming mediocrity of this whole "experience"? Nah. They released dance moves for real money. And we bought them.
Now, Destiscles, I want you to lay down your irrational and tired defense of this game and company for just one minute to consider the fact that maybe, just maybe, this entire game is an enormous sham that you and I were duped into being a part of. I want you to honestly look at what you and I have supported. We've supported extortion. We have been reduced to mindless puppets. We've been bullied. The worst part? We continue to defend this social experiment called Destiny, and guess what? You're the lab rat.
But, sometime after we'd spent $140 on this shell of a game, and maybe $20 more so that we could dance around the tower like goddamn Michael Jackson, many of us began to realize these very issues. We began to put this game down in lieu of other games, time with family and friends, and hobbies we once enjoyed. Many of us began to realize: this game is a glorified piece of horse shit that truly isn't worth our time. Players left in droves, on to much, much greener pastures. Friends lists full of people playing other games, with a handful remaining on Destiny. You noticed, I noticed, Bungie noticed.
"Shit, they're realizing the truth. Who will be left to pay for our over-priced, over-hyped, unimaginative, redundant, same goddamn mission backwards steaming pile of DLC? And dear GOD, WHAT ABOUT THE DANCE MOVES?!?" So they responded. "Please, please refer a friend. We need fresh blood on which to leach, as you guys have nearly been bled dry. We just... Have to make more money on these fcking dance moves. Please. Don't you have anybody?? What about your 9-year-old nephew? Shit, does your grandma have a PS4? What about that drug addict who just got clean, can you get them to start playing? Come on, ANYBODY!!"
Refer a friend? Suck my dick.

Oh you mean a game that is more than a year old is less active than it was at launch? Oh my what ever shall we do?

The problem with me is that I want to play other games but my brain won't allow me to stop until I finish every single quest on all three characters. About halfway done with that. That's not just destiny, anything I start I HAVE to finish or else I'll go crazy. It gets on my nerves and I can't really help it.

4 RepliesExperienced XBOXONE destiny player looking for a new player to get the refer a friend quest rewards. Let's be honest it's unlikely I will find someone to do this with and yes I'm doing it for mostly selfish reasonS but bottom line is I'm a first month player 1000+ hours have completed just about everything you can in the game and I'm willing to level you to 40 and complete all the required steps. So if you're interested let me know. Pst me on here for a invite code. 317-Hunter 316-Titan 316-Lock

5 Repliespretty sure statistics proof that destiny gained a shit load of people the last months and have a huge amount of active player where bungie bagged in some bonuses.

1 ReplyI'm no lab rat. I enjoy the game and I choose to play because I enjoy it. There is no secrecy, underhandedness, duping, or coercion involved in my choice to play this game.

4 RepliesEdited by ValorDLX: 11/26/2015 5:37:28 AMDude, you nailed it all. Not everyone will agree with you sadly. Reading comprehension isn't what it used to be after all...Many drones out there than ever before in fact. But I have spent literal months of real time grinding into this game (probably most playtime in the world in Destiny logged in fact or pretty close...?) and throwing money at my screen for 1 1/6 of a year and sometime after the Refer-a-friend thing I just stopped suddenly caring. I was gonna limit my Destiny play time to just raids at reset, or even when I finally got the Twilight Garrison! But something about that friend/stranger program and the money I've spent and lack of delivery on quality in the game has me feeling emptier and angrier than I've ever felt about using my time to play a game. I've been obsessed with it. Then again, everyone that plays this game and loves it is a gambling addict and doesn't even know it. ;) I dunno. I do feel much more free now playing other things and doing more. This game just had a bad hold on me. Dangerously tight grasp. Don't think I'll be supporting it any longer. Will visit forums to communicate with community and to see what's happening with the game every so often. But no more playing. Spent so much time enthusiastic and eager to play Destiny. Not good to feel empty, like time was wasted, or angry about something recreational. It's a hobby and a distraction, and those should be fun. This is a business scheme. And if Deej's sarcasm isn't enough indication, they are really pulling punches about how much they hate this community themselves (Bungie I mean). They just wanna milk our pockets for small things and charge much more than before for large things in the future. HATE HATE HATE that I feel this way. I used to live and love this game!!!

My money which I work for I can spend it how I like on a game I like, as for refer a friend a good friend of mine is in recovery from major surgery & I have bought another copy of the taken king on Xbox one so we can do the full story from the start, as for people leaving yes fallout 4 & bops 3 took them away but most of my friends list were here on destiny for IB & some are now sick of fallout & are now back grinding the game we love

My game time for this game has fallen drastically since it first came out. Doesn't mean I feel cheated by the content. I spent more than enough time playing the game to get my money's worth. I will continue to be involved with destiny because I enjoy the game.

1 ReplyI've played Destiny since the beta and had the game since day one and I have to agree with you. One of the worst thing for me is why cut content just because new content has been released? VoG and Crotas End. Year one strikes and Prison of Elders are all not worth doing because they're too low level and the rewards are worthless. TTK was great when it came out and I've gotten almost 2 months out of it but now I only play destiny to help my team do the Hard KF raid. I don't play destiny for any other reason, I don't even do NF's or play PvP anymore. I gave Iron banner a miss last week which I've never done before and I don't even bother with Trials now. I used to play Destiny everyday and I've had so much fun playing but I'm very close to abandoning Destiny altogether. Which is sad because it has so much potential.

8 RepliesEdited by LasagnaGuy: 11/25/2015 9:39:46 PMI've just gradually stopped playing and now I'm pretty sure I'm done. Edit: Fallout 4 cured me

Edited by Onomato: 11/26/2015 11:02:11 AMI enjoy Destiny. If I think a game Is fun, the company can have my wallet. I pay for my entertainment. Yes, I've started to play Bo3 and I'm looking into Fallout 4. But I still think Destiny is a generally Decent game.
-
Partly agree. Just please don't ever say that WE bought the dance moves. Maybe you've been that stupid, but bungie has never been that balls deep with me.
-
Agreed.
