Sunbreakers... Are we OP? A Titans thoughts?

Right I'm gonna let off some steam here.. But before I start I'm say a few things. YES, I'm a Titan. YES, I am a Sunbreaker (I don't intend to change anytime soon) in my person opinion do I think it's an OP subclass...? NO!!! I'm tired of people saying we are.? Because sooner or later we're going to get nerfed because people can't handle Titans actually having a good super that grants them the ability to be what they are supposed to be, the tanks of destiny. I hear it on YouTube and the forums, it's driving me crazy, we're not that OP I've been killed in my super plenty of times. But before I get moaned at by all you warlocks and hunters I'm gonna say a few things. Us Titans have had to deal with your shit since day one. Let's be honest before year 2 we had basically terrible supers, we couldn't move anywhere with them and netted maybe four kills with FOH if we were extremely lucky and don't get me started on defender for PVP. Hunters were the King of PVP for a long time, now you guys are all mad because now is Titans are challenging your top spot? And you warlocks, you can come back from the dead and have a melee with a range the size of shaquille o'neal. Yes we have cauterize which returns our health when we get a kill with fire? So what? Bladedancer? Hungering blade sound familiar? Yes we have more armour in a super? What the -blam!- do you expect from a class literally named "Titan" I respect that people think it's OP, and I will admit sometimes it is, but it's that word "sometimes" it's like all supers inconsistent, one day it's amazing the next it's not. Trust me as a Titan I know, it's just I know the community, people only remember us when they see the how good the subclass can be. They don't see what we see as Titan, you don't see the wasted supers, the instant shut downs because they aren't what you remember, you remember us when we kill you and it sucks because that's why people complain. Look, bottom line is I love destiny, I'm a day one player. I don't mean to offend anyone by writing this post I'm sorry if I have, hell this is my first time writing on the forums that'd be a bad way to start hah. I've played all classes it's just the Titan is mine, it's how I play. I'm just a player who doesn't want to see his subclass get nerfed because it's getting hate from all the people that don't play Titan (which lets be honest is most of the community) I'm just tired in general with every nerf, its just silly sometimes it really is. I love my super I really do... I just don't want to see it go the way of shotguns because people hate on it so much. But look, if you've made it this far I'd love to know what you thinks on the topic? Feel free to leave a comment with your opinion, I'd like to hear what others think on this. Thank you for reading.

  • I'm glad we have somthing good. Year one warlocks were clearly the best. Their Nova bomb and melee pissed me off real bad. I think we deserve it

  • A lot of people are now playing sunbreakers just because of hammer of sol. I think the armor is fine I guess. Its the fact that you have the highest kill potential in the game with the same armor as a striker in super using unstoppable. Think about that for a second, unstoppable... of course they will die sometimes when they run into an entire team. Sunbreakers have a sense of invincibility and consider getting themselves in questionable situations and dying as Sunbreakers being balanced. News flash, no super can survive an entire team teamshotting them

  • If you started a Titan after TTK you suck at PvP plain and simple. You knew it was a crutch so you started a Titan to finally do decent in PvP but it hasn't worked on me yet. I'll still snipe each of you out of hammers like usual.

  • Yeah I play Titan and occasionally use sunbreaker, but honestly if you're looking to play as a TANK then play defender. Defender does what it's name claims to be - defend. And don't say it's horrible for pvp because I use defender all the time and it's SO powerful if used right. Not to mention it's really fun too. If sunbreaker had either less armor or less hammers I think it would be ok though.

  • I totally agree they need to be super tanks but merging the super in pvp would make crucible less frustrating, ie, I play a lot of skirmish and rumble, and lately when I'm nestling victory and a Titan isn't far behind, they often super charge and get the last -3-6 kills they need to pass and beat me same as skirmish or salvage in close quarters one person will almost every time have nowhere near the firepower to even drop their shield before a flaming tracking health regening explosion find its way to my face xD they need to still be powerful but the amount of perks you can stack to add so much more to their tankiness is overwhelming, maybe it they didn't have as much armour so if you move around them right you could possibly kill one, but if the coming nerfs make it easy to kill I'll be back on the forums complaining the Titans aren't what they should be xD shouldn't be impossible to kill one, maybe change its perks around a little so they don't have so much stacked on the hammers idk lol I'm conflicted because they need a mild fix but mild is it, no 3 hammer limit, no armour? Why people suggest they get no extra armour baffles me but maybe bungie will finally get a nerf right so what's being nerfed sits perfectly where it should sit

  • I run striker, hardly ever sunbreaker. I don't find them OP. Then again I always play with a fireteam of 3+ people so we can usually co-ordinate enough to take one down before he's really a problem. I personally have way more trouble with a stormcaller than a sunbreaker, not that Shock-Locks are OP, I just haven't adjusted to them yet.

  • I remember seeing a forum post in August before TTK. It stated Sunbreaker is the worst. I replied with 'Sunbreakers are gonna activate hammer time and then you warlocks and hunters will be screaming while we pond your face in saying 'It's done bitch' Now, I watch the forums burn... :)

    If you so claim you are the tanks and it's fine for you to have that insane amount of armor. Fine, have it your way. But Bungie please remove all kind of agility perks from them, weapon equiping should be lower, sprint speed should be lower, weapon handling should be lower, for they are the mighty tank class, all armor no speed. Now let me know how do you like that reasoning. Right now you have armor, speed and recovery. All of that combined at the same time.

    • Here's how I'm looking at it. Titans get a mobile super, end of the world and a good portion of the community is screaming nerf. Why? I couldn't honestly tell you. My only complaint about Sunbreakers is the health regeneration needs a cooldown, BUT the super itself it meant to be tanky and put Titans back into the class of 'Tank'. Long story short, people bitch an moan. Its balanced.

    • I was in an IB match as my titan. My entire team except me quit because we were down 7000 to 2000. I popped a hammer and took out 4 enemies. I then fusion grenaded another and shotgunned a hunter in the balls as he jumped over me. I took all 6 out. It's overpowered. Not as much as some claim but it is.

    • You know, just replace all the sunbreaker with bladedancer and you have the am exact same thing. Nobody remember our wasted supers, or the times they traded kills. They only remember the times that they got locked in a room with us and freaked out. We got nerfed for it. That's all I'm gonna say

    • I play as all three character classes....including a Sunbreaker Titan....and the subclasse's super is DEFINITELY OP as far as PvP. No other class has a super that has the same combination of lethality, range, healing ability and damage resistance. Which makes it ALMOST impossible to counter a decent player when they are using A Sunbreaker super. Case in point yesterday. Was playing an IB clash match on The Dungeons map. The other team was using a strategy of bunching up at check points and team shooting to get easy kills. Once I figured out what they were doing, I stopped trying to push through, and just fell back and started sniping. The game was close near the end, and I caught them all bunched up in a hallway when my super was ready. Popped it, and charged in after them. Took two out right away with the first hammer. Charged up the hallway, and turned left and took out two more. As I was doing this fight guy was Stormcaller Warlock and popped his super and started electrocuting me from behind. I couldn't see him, but I could hear him. I had time to take out a FIFTH guy, and TURN AROUND to face the Warlock...and NEARLY had enough time to throw a hammer to take HIM out..... ...before his SUPER finally put me down. IOW, I got THREE more kills after making a mistake that would have lead to my immediate death had I been using any other super in the game. Because it took THAT long for that warlock to bring me down despite having a free shot at my back with his super. That's not balanced, and that is NOT healthy for The Crucible. The damage resistance is way out of hand, and needs to be reeled back in.

      • I've mained a titan forever. Sunbreakers are OP. They need reduced armor or reduced hammers. Maybe both. It you want to be a tank you can't be putting out that kind of destruction. It's just unfair.

      • Sunbreakers have a great neutral game, in PVE, at least. Titans seem to be the PvE class all around. Thermite grenades carpet halls and walkways with fire, killing AI and restoring health. Or use simmering flames and Armamentarium for obscene grenade throwage! Melee power can insta-reload on a kill. Couple with cauterise and that pack of thralls running at you is a free health buffet! Brutally effective in Court of Oryx. Melees can make sunspots that we can hide in for an overshield, and while a lot of our perks do apply to our super, many have side uses in other areas. Sit in a sunspot and rain hammers on an advancing army, like an artillery piece! It'll get you pwned in PVP, but powerful againts dumb AI with more bark than bite. I only hope they dont nerf us too much. We ARE powerful, but we dont need to be nerfed to hell. Then we'll be back at the bottom of the food chain again... I would suggest keeping our functions just as it is, but nerf some of the effectiveness. Reduce our armor to same as other rolling supers. Maybe slow down our supers run speed a smidge. Reduce the speed of health regen from cauterize. Maybe reduce the strength of the hammers (in PVP) to make them survivable if you are in a super or some kinda overshield; we can throw plenty of them, using another one to finish off a tougher player is fine. We don't need fewer hammers this way. The super and its accessories all make an excellent cohesive package. Don't ruin that, just bring us down a couple notches overall. I love being a hammerbro, and I can surely stand a little reduction in our power, just please don't ruin our abilities; they feel great and make for a fun experience. BTW, Dont swords make EVERYONE a bladedancer now? =P Kinda sux to be them...

        • It's the overshield. It's the damage reduction. It has nothing to do with the health regen, or the 7-8 Hammers, or the team wipe potential. It's the fact that it takes damn near a whole team to kill one. That's silly

          You claim to be a true blue Titan, yet complain about Striker being underpowered and Fist of Havok being lackluster? Wow... Striker (and Defender, if you're creative) are good subclasses. I play as all three classes, and know for a fact that Hammer of Sol is too powerful right now. I hardly have to try to wipe out anyone who comes across my path all without worrying about getting shut down. I've got a feeling you just want revenge after Y1. You wouldn't accept how good Striker and Defender are because you were too busy having a pity party for yourself.

        • I'm going to add that other than hammer of sol being op in pvp I think it's a pretty lackluster class...to me both striker and defender are overall better classes.

        • I'm a titan and I think somethings needed nerfing not everything but just one thing to make it "fair" -making cauterize regen health slower because just like year 1 blade dancer with hungering blade leaving them one shot they get a kill and insta full health is so unfair -less explosive radius on the hammer (got a kill once by hitting the wall like 10 feet away from someone and one shot them) -I hear this one a lot so I'll put it on leave titan as is but lower armor slightly so they get one shot with high impact sniper

        • Yea titans are meant to be tanks and we could try killing them with Nova bomb, tether, or anything that can beat it. But they're just hard to counter if we're using those things. Because 1) Mobility 2) Hammer velocity 3) Hammers explode
