Before I get into a long-winded rant, I'll say first I've been playing this game since the alpha, so all the issues players like us have with this game aside, this update - possibly for me personally - needed to address A LOT more.
Again before anybody says "git good scrub" you can take a look at my characters and medal scores. My stats might not be the best, but that's largely because in comparison to a lot of other PvP games, crucible is a lag fest with broken weapons and lag switchers.
Don't even get started on the terrible netcode this game has compared to other PvP games. Go spend 5 minutes in Battlefield or the newly released Battlefront... So much better.
Don't get me wrong, I'm happy Banshee will finally be selling weapon parts, but little else in this update did anything to address a lot of of major issues the game still has.
I'll start off with the Iron Banner.
While I'm happy the drop rates have been increased for legendary gear, again the weapons and armor are below attack and defense levels that makes them worthy of end game content. There's literally no point to going for that stuff when you're just going to have to infuse the hell out of everything.
I think it's also hilarious that - at least for Hunters - we get armor that benefits hand cannons when literally nobody really uses those anymore because of how much they've been nerfed. Even the handcannon on offer is a joke. Yay for useless rewards.
The machine gun is also a joke because the raid machine gun has overall better stats and perks whether you do the normal raid or hard raid.
I understand a lot of people may not do the raids, but seriously you have a better shot at getting a better weapon if you just put a little time into leveling up and doing the warpriest in the raid. The benefit of this is that it will take a hell of a lot less time then grinding out to rank 5 for iron banner.
A few other miscellaneous things are also not present in this update:
No mention of the Sun Breaker nerf.
No mention of fixing raid drops.
Yay for more quests in the broken crucible.
At the end of the day I might be in the minority on these issues, but I say this not only to benefit myself but everybody in the community as well. It's just disheartening that destiny continues to be a place of frustration for a lot of us that have played a lot, and we're not getting rewarded properly, if at all.
Every change that has been made for motes of light, weapon parts, Rep for factions / vendors needs to be increased and brought back to year one levels.
There has to be more benefit from pumping tons of hours into this game. That was one of the nice things from playing a lot in year one... it was nice to get something out from what you put in.
It should be noted I've also donated to Bungie a few times - check my characters for the "Sign of Duality" and Nepal Emblem - and I did so not expecting anything in return, it's because they were for a good cause and because I CARE about this game. Hell I even bought 2k in silver for the Carlton and Halloween emotes.
I could go into a long triad about how amazing it was to get good drops in year one, but it's best to remember Destiny is a different game now... more about stringing players along with trash drops and more grinding when the end benefit isn't even exciting or rewarding.
I won't mention other games I'm playing but I'll say this:
Currently, Destiny is not only a shell of its former self, it's almost a exercise on how NOT TO reward players in a game that's open world, requires a lot of time commitment, and uses RNG as a core game mechanic to reward players.
I'm not saying this game should be a catch-all for what made year 1 great, just things have to be changed back to benefit and reward the players that put a lot of time in. Even if someone hops on and plays for 30 minutes, they should look forward to doing so because they know they will get something out of it.
What has happened to the game I sunk THOUSANDS OF HOURS into?
Where are the exciting drops?
Where are the rewarding Nightfall / Raid Drops?
Where is my rep bonus from Nightfall? (to a bigger extent the cool flaming head?)
Where are the motes, weapon parts, materials that were never an issue?
Where is the rep percentage gain for EVERYTHING?
The answer to all this?
It's buried in the past when Destiny was a better game, and to a much larger extent had promise and was fun to play.
Taken King has been a welcome change with - FINALLY - some character interaction and story elements, cinematics, amazing raid experience, new and diverse PvP maps, Exotic story quests that also might be hidden in missions... but if the trade off for this was to literally nerf the other 85% of this game, Bungie, you can have it all back.
A lot of that is gone now, and I just wish we could have the Taken King content, crossed with the added benefits brought in from House of Wolves - ex: more motes when destroying legendaries - and the excitement of Year 1 Raid Drops - it's not about getting a certain weapon, it was about all the weapons were exciting! Period - and if for anything else, a game I looked forward to playing.
Not a game that felt like a chore. An unrewarding grind.
-End Rant-
Last thing I'll say is I'm glad I've got Witcher 3 DLC, Fallout 4 and Battlefront to play. I'll finish up my weekly grind then back to playing games that are actually rewarding and fun.

11 RepliesFirst of all, you bumped your own post 4 times. That's a sign of attention-seeking, Second- your personal experience is different from mine. Either we're doing different activities, or I have better luck than you. I consistently am getting legendary and rare drops in the high 290s every day, just by turning the engrams that pop up during my normal activities. Having only done the raid 3 times, I've got 2 primary, 1 special and 1 heavy weapon from it, along with 2 armor pieces. Then again, I don't understand the obsession with chasing a number. Sometime before Christmas, I'll hit 310 or so, and then sometime eventually I'll do the hard raid. But there's no hurry for any of this. We're only- what? 9 weeks? into this year. There's still time to get everything done.

1 ReplyFor anyone with a little bit of age I best describe it as that great little corner restaurant that had GREAT food and WONDERFUL people, décor wasn't great but its not why you went there.....then the parents retire and leave it to their kids who see that the restaurant is packed every day......so they move down the street to a larger building and start prebuying some of the food because its cheaper and in the end the restaurant fails and closes. Sometime the way things are......is how it should be, bigger and more fancy isn't always better. I kind of think Bungie did that.....they keep trying to improve on things that work just fine and in the end the game suffers.

Edited by Razzupaltuff: 11/19/2015 12:51:31 PMThe irony about this is that the initial game already was a shell of what it should have been (and people had been made to believe they would get). Listen Dude, it was clear a long time ago already that Bumgie gives a flying f*ck about their customers' wishes and desires. They are having their own agenda, and they are hell bent to pursue it to what I very much hope to be a sad and bitter end for Bumgie.

1 ReplyThe only issue I have with the weapons and armor is that the vendor rolls are at 280. Im not asking for Iron Banner gear to drop 320, at least over 300. There is no real incentive to grind out Iron Banner, unless you want a reskinned Timur's Lash or Jolder's Hammer. In the early days of Destiny and during The Dark Below, Iron Banner was the only other method of obtaining end game content, even in House of Wolves we could obtain Etheric Light, which again was used to reach the endgame. Im really hoping the drops that come at the end of matches are 300 or above, or there is really no point of our time grinding out matches.

I love the overall direction in ttk for the most part. But like you, I hate that it takes forever to level up a faction through bounties and patroling. The biggest problem is that we went from many endgame activities to run each week, to essentially one. Noone cares about nightfall anymore, and grinding kings fall for another "point" of offense is the definition of pointless grind. Along those lines, with ttk we have fewer exotics to earn or win. Instead of "expanding" things with this expansion, they've really done the exact opposite.

1 ReplyYea in a game riddled with almost crippling glitches... sword falling through the map or the entire team just dying simultaneously after killing the shade of oryx... the only things that seem to be a priority for bungie are the ones that help the guardians. A worth wild ice breaker, primaries with burns (leaving out the arc exotic primary that I'm brain farting all over the name of right now) and of course the gjally. All gone and with no sign of returning.

I feel the same. They removed alot of the good stuff when it was an improvement. It's like they're taking a step backwards. So sad...
