I used mine a week or so ago just fine. Relatively easy to solo.

I have a charged on each of my three. Been to chicken to try and solo any of them yet. I try and stay away from videos or "instructionals" on these types of things until I've at least given it a good effort. The question I have is... If I try it solo and fail miserably, do I lose the rune or does it go back into my inventory? I have my Hunter at 301 (300 if not equipped with exotic sword), so it really shouldn't be entirely tooo difficult. If I get to keep the rune, I'll give it a shot tonight.

I don't think the rune is consumed until you open the final chest. I didn't fail so can't say with certainty.
