Seriously.
When activision gets a look at bungo's profits, just from today, and how many idiots spent the equivalent of TTK to get cosmetic bullshit?
How do you think that's going to end up?
And for you fools who keep saying "it's paying for free DLCs"
It's not.
It's paying for "live events" like these which now we see are just about generating more cash.

My favorite comment so far out of the many, by PalaNin:

.
My intention was to at least continue the discussion on micro transactions in Destiny.
Given the number of replies I guess that was successful.
It seems quite clear the vast majority are bout it bout it.
In hindsight I would have written the original post differently.
Bungie has done very well selling this start to the slippery slope, good for them.
I don't really see how anyone could argue that micros in a full priced console game are NOT a bad thing.

It's really sad that Destiny conned people into paying more money for dance moves and now masks? Just goes to show how much I've missed, I stopped logging into that garbage when Halo 5 came out. I find it hard to understand why so many Sheep pay for stupid shit then complain... It's like... why would you want a mask that badly. It's not real. It's lost to you when you get bored with the game. Remember the good old days when Halo Reach allowed you to EARN Inclement Weather. They didn't try to trick stupid and slow people into rolling dice for it... As a Wolf... I really feel bad for the sheep, but on the other hand, I'm so glad I'm not one... You dumb asses spend more money for a mask than you did for the original Destiny game... By doing this you are sending a message to Bungie and Activision that not only are you severely stupid, but that it's ok for them to make a terrible game with no story and no clean content because stupid sheep will buy it anyway if you allow them to do Carlton and Michael Jackson dances on it with $100 roll the dice masks... Holy Shit.... you dumb asses should all go on a cruise together and then sink it... Together.... I paid the same amount you did for a mask for the entire Metal Gear V game!!! "You Drop $150,000 for an education that you could have gotten for $1.50 in late charges at the library"

3 RepliesBrought enough so that I can glue all the masks I got into legendary. I have all 17 legendary masks. And guess what? I have money to waste, so making the game pay-to-win benefits me, so I don't care.
-
Lol got it with £4 when I was just buying the packages to dismantle masks for glue for the raid boss ones cos I love em

24 RepliesDear Broke Adult or Angry Child, I work for a living and will spend my money how I see fit. If I enjoy buying things from a game that has literally given me 2000 hours of entertainment, what's it to you? Once you become an adult and realize nothing in life is free you'll understand. These guys are clearly talented and I will compensate them for their time.

I only spent $20 ;)

You ppl who pay $60 for a game then $70 for all dlc are killing us. Stop paying for sht there I just made your topic even pointless.

You idiots complaining are going to kill us

I pay 30 bucks for Chinese food I'll eat in 30 mins. I don't even blink. Can't wait to buy weapons I can use for hours and hours of entertainment. Don't bother to reply I don't care how you feel about that .on second thought if that makes you angry that will only add to my entertainment value feel free to unleash

2 RepliesHow does other people spending the money they earned affect you in any way ? We all work hard and spend our money on things we want

8 RepliesIt's weird to me that people are ok with donating money to their favorite twitch streamer only to get nothing in return, but it's not ok to spend money on digital cosmetic items to support a developer.

2 RepliesYou don't have to buy it. If people want to spend their money, then they can. Seriously m8, you just sound like a envious 12 year old who can't afford silver.
-
see I bought those packages because I wanted every single mask in legendary so I could "have them all" I bought more Silver for future, but this is it for me, with all these other games coming out, I didn't want to be bothered spending more money on this game at a future date, just hop on and do what I have to do whenever I may buy future DLC, I may not, TTK brought SO MUCH goodness and I'm happy with everything, except for this Raid, complete and utter shit

1 ReplyEdited by NeonMilkMan: 10/29/2015 8:08:49 AMFree content with no cost to me, am I missing something??

2 RepliesTo all the sheeple who say "it helps the developers." You guys are the reason a lawn mower says " do not stick hand under machine."

I'm ok with it. Borderlands 2, ESO, several games these days that sell some cosmetic items. Just know what it is. Should you really spend that much on extra stuff? Is there anything wrong with spending a few bucks to buy some extra stuff for your game?
-
2 RepliesOnly idiots are buying the bags now. Anyone with some intelligence is going to grind for it until the day it ends, if they still don't have it then they'll buy for it. People who won't be able to play are excluded from this haha. But, these aren't pay to win. If someone wants to waste their money on some dumb mask let them. Them doing that isn't going to 'kill us'. And besides, I've heard whispers of a bigger expansion on its way. TTK has only been out for less than two months, why don't we give it a bit more time before we call it?

What do you mean by you people? It's because I'm vex isn't it?!

1 ReplyI threw my silver at the screen as soon as I saw the thriller dance and never looked back. I'm enjoying getting down like mike. Only cost me the price of a 6 pack. Best money I ever spent

Honestly, I don't mind cosmetic micro transactions. I am not a supporter of pay-to-win goods, and there is no way of knowing if that's what this will lead to, but if I want to buy something that I think looks pretty, if I want it that badly, I'll get it. Please read what I write below, and I always value good debates. Also, you seem to think this event was the start? You could argue that the emotes were the first scenario, but no one seemed to complain about the cost of those. Hell, while we're at it, why isn't anyone pointing fingers at the DLC pre-order bonus items, like.. *gasp* An item with a defensive value, that boosted subclass and level xp gain, as well as providing actual stats? To me, that could be deemed an unfair transaction (even if not exactly a pay-to-win scenario). My general point is, these micro transactions have already been here, but the heat didn't come down until everyone really wanted these coveted masks, and deemed their value worthy of complaints. Virtual goods have value. This is a fact. Not an opinion. An aesthetically pleasing helmet is no different than a real world.. Necklace that you like (just an example). The value of the virtual good, however, is harder to gauge and is pretty much deemed by the demand of it. This Skull Mask, that everyone seems to want, could be worth literally nothing. However, people are spending $50+ trying to get it, which is just showing how much it's really worth to them. The only difference between the gestures offered for silver and the mask box, is that the box states it's a gamble. If people really want something, it's their choice to spend the money to chance getting the item they want. You don't want any micro transactions? The best thing you could do is not buy them. Don't spend the money, Bungie doesn't see as much profit, their presence may diminish. Simple. If, however, you're on either end of the spectrum but continue to purchase any of these things, it would be completely hypocritical to boycott this practice, as you've already contributed and started showing Bungie what you actually value their virtual goods to be. Hopefully I came across clearly.. Was driving for some of that lol.

8 RepliesEdited by DarthParoxis: 10/28/2015 8:35:33 PMThere's a few points your missing: 1) Bungie has already stated that pay to win will not become a thing 2) These items are 100% optional and don't affect gameplay in any way (masks literally put you at a disadvantage) 3) Bungie has also stated that these purchases will give us bigger and better events (Festival of the Lost is testament to this) and will provide free content updates that are roughly the size of HoW and TDB. (So yes it is in a way paying for DLC 4) People can spend their money however they want Just because you feel like you should be given free stuff instead of shelling out a couple dollars for a cosmetic item doesn't mean that it's wrong.
