To all my fellow Xbox Guardians.
This December Microsoft will be introducing the Xbox One Elite.
And if you're in the market for a "next gen" console, this is the cream of the crop.
Not only does the Xbox 1 Elite come with the Elite controller, but the real gem is a 1 TB SSD hybrid hard drive. (Too bad Microsoft didn't introduce this at launch because the PS 4 wouldn't stand a chance).
This is an amazing deal for 499. SSD's are light years ahead of and better than traditional HDD's because the SSD's have no moving parts and data retrieval is nearly instantaneous.
Good stuff Microsoft.
Edit: The intent of this post was not to start a "console war" so my bad with the title.
I'm just impressed with Microsoft's decision to sell the Elite at 499 including both the controller and an SSDHD. there can't be much of a profit made for selling it at this price point.

3 RepliesI can stuff a hybrid drive in my PS4. But I'm happy for you.

Your in the destiny forum. You should move the post to #Propaganda

How is this in #destiny?

1 ReplyHybrid drives are nowhere near as fast as SSDs. Odd that you went directly to bragging about the speed of SSDs.
-
12 RepliesYou can have the best made hardware out there. Still doesn't change the fact your system and games are sub par And stop with the bull shot. Your one and ONLY intention was to start a console war

Plus it's only faster in menus and loading the console up. You'll still have to wait for everyone else to load their game. Plus numerous tests have been done and an ssd makes zero real improvement to games atm.
-
3 RepliesYou literally said its a hybrid between HDD and SSD, then ranted about how cool and great SSD's are... When it's not even a true SSD. It's a hybrid. Which means it'll be a bit faster. But not a lot. Not that big of a deal.

5 RepliesLight years are a measure of distance.
-
1 ReplyEventually as prices of SSDs decline I will replace the HDD in my PS4 with an SSD. I don't need to buy a new console to do that.
-
4 RepliesIm an Xbox fan. They run better they're online has always been more taken care of. But there really isn't one that's better than the other. But companies have thought about cutting their consoles off because the consoles aren't worth the money. They don't truly make that much money for the consoles. Like I said both have thought about cancelling their Xbox or PlayStation ties. So nobody should be set on one specific company unless you can honestly say if they quit making it you'll quit playing games so don't say one is better than the other
-
You do know what hybrid means right? Its a hybrid between an HDD and SSD. As I was told when I put one in my PS4, only the stuff you load constantly will be on the SSD portion. The rest goes on the plain old HDD. But for my fellow gamers, that SSD portion does make a big difference. Welcome to the club 😆

9 RepliesAs a ex employee of EB Games (GameStop) were I worked for 4 years and just recently quit to go back to school. I can tell you that for every 10 PS4s we sold, we sold maybe 2 XB1s. We also saw little to no interest in the XB1 Elite.

A real next-gen console would be a liquid-cooled micro-ATX powerhouse box sitting next to the TV. Running Steam. 8 RepliesReckon the SSD will help load the menus quicker? I hate trying to change gear/use a synth in a firefight and just sitting there for a good 5 seconds getting shot before I can do anything.
SSD's are light years ahead of and better than traditional HDD's because the SSD's have no moving parts and data retrieval is nearly instantaneous.
You do know what a hybrid drive is right, only 8gb of that 1tb will ssd. The rest (which will house all your games) will still be mechanical.

And Sony is working on the flat PlayStation, probably with similar equipment. I would go look it up, but things like this are so tiring.

Good one!

4 RepliesCouldn't you put an ssd in a PS3? I think I heard of ffxiv players doing it for faster zone loading
-
The intent of your post aside, you're hyping it up because of the SSD, but that's not going to help much when most of the data you "retrieve" while on loading screens is from the servers you're connected to, not your hard drive. At least when you're online, which is really the only time it matters.

Gotta be a troll post.
-
A hybrid is not a real ssd..know your stuff.

2 RepliesNo. The lowest price console is generally the best seller. The Elite is a niche product for hardcore gamers. Sony just dropped PS4 to $349, and that will have a bigger impact on the market than the Elite.

I have an Xbox One and I'm fairly firmly a Microsoft person, but no, this is not a big deal. The PS4 is still the more powerful and more versatile system.
