Why does this guy get so much shit... Look I am a destiny vet, I have played the shit out of every bit of content in this game and don't get me wrong I enjoy it, the gameplay is satisfying. But without my clan I feel like I would prob quit cuz they make it substantially more fun but I digress. But part of what gets me to play destiny so much is that while I'm playing the game, and I'm doing something that's not all that fun I can just imagine how great the game COULDVE been. Everytime I do something in the divide in the cosmodrome, guess what immediately comes to my mind, that's right that fantastic E3 Gameplay Demo. You know, the cool ass one where the warlock loots the thunderlord and the weapon menu made it look like it had authentic exotic perks that we had to pick between according to the way we play with the weapon and how it fits our play style. And the Hunter loots that orgasmic sniper rifle which ended up taking a lot of patience to use because It ended up being kind of insignificant in end game contents and that's when I realized it was a ways do time, and so on. That's just one example... The things this guy points out, while admittedly a little bit over the line of just being super picky about every single thing every once in a while, are actually right. He gets right down to the essence of the game, it's fundamentals, destiny is repetitive and fruitless in much of its content. There is no denying it. And as I already pointed out he is a little picky sometimes but he is getting down to the essence of the problem that most hardcore destiny vets fail to accept, even though they know it. The Taken King did not revolutionize anything other than a few things like the boss in the darkness strike and stuff like that as he pointed out. What it did rather is it put a quest name over the same shit we did in vanilla and called it content. For quite a few of these quests we do the exact same strike or story mission and when we select it in orbit it's merely a different version of it, all it is is that it's harder cuz it's on heroic. They are artificially putting content into this game... One other thing is the exotic sword quest, I -blam!-ing love the swords and its perhaps my favorite addition to the game in terms of our guardians' kit... So of course I really -blam!-ing wanted that exotic sword, I was doing the quest steps and they were fine, I was enjoying it only because I was excited about what me reward would be but deep down I knew it was renamed content but anyway when I got to the arc kills and material collection one I was like oh chill I'll just have to run bladedancer whenever I'm doing any kind of easy mission or whatever, I get an arc kill and I see that not even one % had progressed on the bar... And that's fine I was totally fine with it being a long term thing I'll just run BD for a while. So I went to the cosmodrome with some friends to do a taken war run and I collected some spinmetal cuz I kept in mind that I needed to collect spinmetal. I collected one and I got some sort of core and I'm like wtf is this and I ask my friend and she says oh those are the things that u have to turn into Shaxx for the exotic quest. So I'm like oh so it's not spinmetal it's a core I get by chance from spinmetal and I was 1/10 on the progress bar, and that was fine I had not complained yet. But it turned out I got lucky af because that was like the 4th formation I had harvested and when my fireteam was done with the taken war thing they left without me so that I could farm some spinmetal... AND -blam!- HELL MAN... You get a core every 40 formations of spinmetal and I'm just lucky i was a Hunter so I had keen scout on but -blam!-bit took two days of doing just that all day. I know these are long anecdotes but these are examples of the repetitive bullshit that makes it seem like there is content but there isn't all they are doing is putting a name and a really cool reward at the end of the really really long and dreadful tunnel of repetition. I'm also a huge Halo fan and he brought up good point. Legendary Halo 2 was the shit, it was challenging. Raids are not like this, once you learn them it's easy af and I'm in a clan and we run that shit like it's (as Dobbins said) child's plays. And we all know why this game isn't challenging I don't want to pull the activist on card but they forced Bungie to make the game rated T for teen. And no the problem is not that I don't get to see blood because I'm a little kid who doesn't like games unless they cover my screen in blood and limbs (*clears throat* MKX). The significance of that is that they want Bungie to make the game child friendly so that they could sell more to a wider range of audience and with that we get content that feels braindead to hardcore gamers, unlike legendary halo 2, something that a little ass kid couldn't do without crying and quiting (as I tried with Halo CE when I was like 10, way above my pay grade at the time). Another essential thing is that Halo was one of the most competitive games of its time. From playing the Destiny beta I was actually looking forward to doing some sort of competitive PvP with a clan or something but nope, no private matches. That itself however wouldn't allow the game to go comepetitive. Why? Well not because of supers because that's what makes destiny destiny and not Halo with more verticality and ADS. It's because of the imbalance between the supers, the obvious one currently being HoS. Also because pen regeneration would have to be removed because pros would end up spec'ing in orb regeneration and you know these pros would end up making so many orbs it would be disgusting. Lack of dedicated servers. Never ending imbalance between weapons, Matador and Party Crasher, Thorn, TLW, old Suros, Red Death, grenades and horseshoes, shit like that. One last point is the grimoire card deal, guys, THERE IS NO -blam!-ING EXCUSE FOR A DEVELOPER TO HAVE MOST OF ITS NARRATIVE CONTENT ON A GOD DAMN COMPANION APP AND NOT IN THE GAME. If you haven't read the grimoire cards that correspond to TLW or Thorn, do it right now and tell me those cards single handed my have more story telling content than all of year one destiny -blam!-ing combined, yea. I MEAN PORN HAS A BETTER STORY THAN VANILLA DESTINY. It's like when one of the tower people are talking to you over comms when you're flying to your mission is like when the pornstars have to like role play as if the guy was a plumber and the girl needed her sink fixed and nobody wants to hear them run their mouth about sinks they want to get right down to the -blam!-ing the same way we don't want to hear Ikora Rey and her dumb ass and we want to just hit the ground running and put a bullet in a dregs mouth and a shank up a Centurion's ass. And again here comes the activision card, knowing Bungie their is no -blam!-ing way they intended for this stories to be on an unlockable card on a website. But those kinds of stories were too mature and did not apply to the little kids who would be buying this game, (and that's why I think Bungie's head writer quit). Well that's what I have to say about Destiny, one of the most potentially revolutionary games of the decade and and its shortcomings as opposed to Halo's successes and why Bungie was not allowed to/unable to replicate that in Destiny. Here's my breakdown of the video. Careful, it's a mess: Maker blames Bungie for making a story that doesn't make sense when he's lazy. The better analogy would be waking up in the middle of a movie and blaming the director for the movie not making any sense. I do, however, think the first cutscene did skip something. His example of a "good" story was, frankly, terrible. Besides being completely perverted and on par with creepypasta wiki, it broke the law of conservation of detail. A story shouldn't tell every god damn thing. I don't care if Oryx wakes up and eats fruit loops for breakfast and then kisses his girlfriend goodbye on the chin unless it's going to be important later. I'd much rather read a barebones story than slog through purple prose. Oh, and he's a freaking hypocrite for his Halo example. Why? Cause 68% per cent of that was in books. Is it really bad if a game has a short story, either? I can't even remember half the stuff in Watch Dogs or Assassin's Creed 2 or Red Dead. They were all good games with good stories, but the makers just inflated the stories to kill time between big moments. BDobbins is also hard to take seriously. He sounds like an idiot at times. Like seriously, he should know how to pronounce Rasputin. People that don't play Destiny know how to pronounce it because it's, you know, a real thing. And did he just say gundula? It's pronounced gondola. Oh, my favourite part of it was "Bungie, make everyone else suck less." I think I figured out the problem with Destiny. BDobbins doesn't like it. He doesn't like it an won't like it, and nothing Bungie can do will make him like it. He can't shove the square pegs into the triangular hole. Just don't play it if you don't like it. I didn't like Dark Souls. That wasn't the developers' fault, it was just that I didn't like it. I will speak on behalf of my community: people enjoy the game. We liked Taken King. We liked House of Wolves. We liked Dark Below. We liked Destiny.

Didn't even watch the video, just saw the thumbnail saying ttk wasn't worth $40 and laughed. It's worth every penny and then some, which is why I happily paid $80 for my collector's edition, and a second copy of just the ttk for my wife!
