I'm sick and tired of seeing this shotgun constantly being used. Deej said in an interview that "if we allow one thing to be good and dominate, we've failed at game design." Well that's how the game has always been and they just made it even more so the case by spoon feeding this weapon to players with absolutely amazing perks.
I feel like the patch that "nerfed" shotguns was just a placebo. The only things that actually have range fall off are guns that AREN'T shot guns.
Now we have to wait another 8 months for a patch to PvP to actually balance the supers/guns. Nice Bungie. 10/10
Update:
Just put on all of my year 1 gear (Light level 191 was as low as I could get), got 31 kills. Nice "power curve" Bungie.

Looks like they have failed at game design! Over, and over, and over again.

Edited by Dezzie19: 10/15/2015 4:18:12 PMMap design doesnt help either. The newer map's are basically designed for shotgunners.

2 RepliesThey nerf shot package.. NEW SCRUBS ARRIVE IN THE FORUMS "oh my god I can't counter a shotgun I'm so terrible so imma go to the forums and whine like a little bitch so they can just take out shot guns completely"

1 ReplyEdited by Syronck: 10/15/2015 4:04:48 PMI'm sick of seeing snipers. Stop being a coward hiding at the back and fight me like a man. I would love them to buff fusion rifles back so they are viable again, though. Shotguns have been nerfed several times. Maybe you just need to change your playstyle, or learn that if you charge a shotgunner, you're going to die. Yeah, I know about the supers. That Golden Gun has killed me far more than any other super in Iron Banner right now. They need fewer shots or something. That and stormcaller. Man they just clear my team out. I will agree with the light level thing, though, but it's been that way since the very first iron banner, so I don't think Bungie knows what they're doing with 'power curves'.

1 ReplyMore like Conspiracy Theory-DDos. One of my friends got killed by it in iron banner and it crashed his game.
-
I don't die to shotguns very often anymore. If you play a night stalker, throw down vortex grenade and venom smoke bomb at your feet in front of you at the same time when they are charging you and then use the taunt emote as they slowly die. Double and triple kills on objectives all day with that combo

9 RepliesSome people just won't be happy until shotguns are removed from the game.
-
1 ReplyYup. They are still overpowered.
-
The super is way less common and less devastating than that PoS shotgun. I only see about 1(one) SB Titan per match.
-
The problem isn't "shotguns". The problem is that one or two of them have such awesome perks that it makes using any other shotgun pointless. It's also very prohibitive of using sidearms or Fusion rifles. Many of the maps in current rotation rewards players for running around shotgunning everything too.

More like nightstalker unlimited arrow sluts.
-
5 RepliesShotguns are now fine, stop whining or gtfo
-
This game lets you use snipers and shotguns at the beginning of the match, that's the reason this game is unbalanced, i would love crucible to be primary only, and special ammo to be just as limited as heavy ammo

Conspiracy theory d? More like y2 party crashed I shred people with that thing

8 RepliesEdited by NachoBandito: 10/15/2015 3:57:35 PMUnfortunately it seems as though Bungie just haven't been able to wrap their head around the fact that shotguns continue to be overpowering and overused in PvP. Regardless of range drop-off tweaks and removed abilities on the weapons themselves, it's still fairly easy for a player to rapidly close a gap between an opponent and themselves in order to get that one shot in with a shot gun while being able to absorb whatever damage most weapons can dish out in the time that takes, in medium to close range situations. Add to this the fact that ALL of the PvP maps are close-quarters, and there is always a radar on that gives you the ability to know when an opponent is in close proximity, and you end up with a situation where 75-80% of the players involved are using shotguns in some capacity, while the top of the leader board is usually occupied by someone using a shotgun first strategy, in almost every situation. If I was to offer a suggestion for fixing the issue it would be that the proximity radar was either limited/reduced, or simply done away with altogether (except for players with the Knucklehead Radar or a weapon with the Third Eye perk), while further tweaking was made to allow for a better balance between shotguns and other weapons in medium to close range engagements. I'd also go as far as making the shotgun a two shot kill at any range when hitting the torso, and shots below the waist to have a severe drop off in damage.. I'd also completely do away with any slug-type, one shot kill rounds. Basically I'd make it so that the shotgun had about as much critical range as the swords and then, only in situations where the shot landed was in the optimum area on the opponents body. Edit - I have no problem with the SB Titans other than to suggest that it possibly gives a bit too much armor to the player using the ability. Still, I killed several Titans in the middle of their special last night with my primary weapon and, you can hear a Titan activating and using the ability from a mile away.

4 RepliesJust faced an entire team of people shotgun rushing... This is not fun Bungie.

Remember when it was Hunter Banner? Iron Thorn? Blink shotgun was the worst part of Year 1. Other than everything else in Year 1.

Blink shotgun is worse

Conspiracy theory, hammer, Erienee RR4, red death banner

You're way over exaggerating man. I see so many different subclasses playing (including striker and defender) and so much variety with special weapons. I've seen snipers and chaperones with shotguns thrown in of course. Some sidearm action too! This is the most diverse Iron Banner I've played so far, albeit one of my worst performances =/ (I'll find my go to primary eventually). Also, despite what you may think, shotguns are not at the same level they were. Rangefinder is not as good as shot package ever was. You're dying to shotguns at a reasonable range now. If you're dying a ton to them, you gotta play more defensively. I die more to red death and snipers than shotguns.

Hahaha I was actually thinking of doing what you did in your edit just to see how much of a disadvantage I would be at, turns out it's not much at all. Reminds me of the video made during the very first iron banner when a guy with the auto rifle you start the campaign with and I think he was like level 5 or whatever, was dominating iron banner against level 30's lol The only thing stopping us from doing that anymore was Bungie put a minimum level requirement on playing Iron Banner. I'm going to put thorn on and watch my inbox fill up with hatemail

37 Replies-blam!- it I'm getting tired of constantly hearing this, what subclass would you like Titans to use? The striker subclass that is basically used defensively to stop other supers? The bubble subclass that can be shut down by every other super AND nets you almost no kills unless someone is stupid enough to challenge you inside the bubble? Jesus Christ Titans had the worst PVP supers in the game year 1 and now we're going to use the only good offensive super that we have. Once it gets nerfed you guys will still probably whine about it, even though the warlock can pretty much wipe your entire team in the blink of an eye. we all know how strong BD and GG are also.

Edited by Zorthax Dorn: 10/15/2015 3:19:47 PMSpot on. I use conspiracy theory because if I don't I won't be anywhere near competitive vs the rest. It is BEYOND broken. Bungie was like, let's Nerf shotgun range but then hand out a shotgun with the most ridiculous rolls for free to everyone lol.

This IB is the worst ive ever played in. IB loot is non existent and the matches are always one sided. The maps they chose/made for the TTk are terrible!
-
Umm....you missed the Red Death and Hawkmoon

1 ReplyThe problem with shotguns isn't the weapons themselves. Essentially it can be drawn down to 2 huge issues: 1. All one has to do to kill with a shotgun is get close. In this game, that is very easily done. Guardians have unlimited sprint that is much faster than most other games, and hunters/warlocks have blink, which can cover the distance in an instant. 2. The map design is catered to a CGC play style. Think about all of the maps in this game. 90% of them you can run from end to end within 10 seconds, and are filled with narrow hallways, small rooms, and even the open areas are littered with debris and landscape that one can hide behind. Most maps allow mid range at best in some areas, but you never get an all out long range war like you do in first light, bastion, and skyshock. Shotguns cannot be fixed by nerfing them, because they were never the problem.
