For your information:
There are 2 legendary emotes (500 Silver each) and 16 rare emotes (200 Silver each), for a total cost of 4200 Silver. The legendary ones are the Slow Clap and the Carlton (Enthusiastic).
Bungie gives you 400 Silver free. You can get 2300 for $20, 1100 for $10, and 500 for $5. In order to buy them all you need all three purchaseable packs.
400+2300 ($20)+1100 ($10)+500 ($5)=4300 ($35) Silver (Dollars) - this leaves 100 left over, which is a very common marketing strategy (leave the consumer with just too little money to buy another item).
What do you think about this?

6 RepliesWhy does the total cost of the emotes even matter? Serious question
-
2 RepliesThat would be called cost savings, average DLC $40, make all purchasable items near the cost of the average DLC, company only pays $5/DLC Too much business in this industry now All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy...
-
So now people are complaining about the total cost of all of the emotes.... This community is unreal

do we really need to buy all 18? im pretty satisfied with my grieving and evil scheme. you can easily switch out and have a laugh during raids in breaks or when capping a flag. 18 is way too OTT for my style. p.s if you went ahead and felt the need to buy silver....its great xD we all have our opinions so we are free to do what we want :P
-
I used the free silver to get the grieving emote. Now I go around grieving for people's wallets. If I see those legendary emotes, I will weap for your loss.

Don't Personally like most of the new emotes so I don't have a problem but some simple math will show if you buy all the packs then you are cheating yourself. Instead of buying all the packs for $35 you could buy 2 $20 packs, get all the emotes and have enough left over to get more when new things are added instead of being left with just enough to not get anything. All depends on if you like everything or not. Personally I got lucky, the only two I really liked were both 200 silver so I got them free!
-
I didn't like them all but I do have silver left over and now you're making me want to buy them all just to support bungie, who is awesome btw
-
5 RepliesSounds like when you buy hot dogs in packs of 8 but the buns come in packs of 6
-
1 ReplyStill more content than the first expansion pass.
-
5 RepliesAlmost the cost of the Taken King...for some silly animations. Yep that seems like fair pricing. Fair if you were Activisi...oh.

1 ReplyThis is a gaming first ! They are no longer micro transactions . Micro means small, like 1.99 or maybe 3 bucks .. But 35? That's a macro transaction .. Unreal.. Why does my fav game get worse monthly

1 ReplyAdd on the cost of the Legendary edition items and you've got cosmetic DLC that's five dollars short of the original game.

7 RepliesEdited by MysticJon: 10/13/2015 9:02:21 PMSo, according to Bungie/Activision, buying all 18 emotes is virtually equal in monetary value to the entire TTK expansion. Or to the year one expansion pass. Keep on drinking that kool-aid Guardians...

3 RepliesEdited by Cats In Hats: 10/13/2015 7:54:34 PMI remember when Bethesda sold the horse armor for oblivion and people FREAKED. It was an on going joke for soooo long. Now Bungie sells a slow clap for $5 and people are grabbing the biggest spoon they can to eat their bucket of sh*t. It's amazing how the industry has brain washed the average gamer in such a short period of time. You got to give them props, really.
-
9 RepliesIn comparison, the new Witcher 3 dlc is available for 10 bucks and gives you 15+ hours of gameplay.
-
3 RepliesBungie knew that the slow clap and the Carlton were the best, so they made it the 2 most expensive ones...
-
5 RepliesEdited by LibertarianCajun: 10/13/2015 11:52:12 PMA ton of people have paid 35$ for 18 emotes… 5$ less than TTK… You just paid an entire DLCs cost for emotes… You realize they won't stop here because they know their community will. Just. Eat. It. Up.

2 RepliesIs this what happened to Microsoft points. Lol anyone remember them!??
-
3 RepliesThe only one worth having is The Carlton. And I still wouldn't buy it for actual money. Just gonna be smart and buy two free ones with the free silver Bungie gave me.
-
What I'm thinking is... Who the -blam!- would buy all the emotes? So imo it's irrelevant.
-
3 RepliesThat's not how marketing strategies like this work – their expectation will never be that people would buy all of the emotes. With micro transactions, they will have a certain target amount, Say, five dollars per target player, per offers. They expect that many people will buy a few of these and then stop there. Later, however, the store will offer something different, say shaders for ships, And people will spend five dollars for that as well. In this strategy, people will end up paying a certain targeted amount, say $60, over the course of a year. They won't mind each individual transaction because it is small, it will be spread out over a long period of time, so it won't seem like a very big deal. This is not necessarily deceptive marketing; in general, people are happy with the purchases that they make this way, and the company gets their revenue target that they were aiming for.
