Half of the time you will end up with a 309. It doesn't matter if all the weapons involved are leveled up or not. It'll screw you regardless of how careful you are. Always get it to 306 bare minimum.
You can sometimes infuse a 304 or 305 and get a 310 in return but it doesn't happen every time. Everyone responding and saying its 80% doesn't know what they are talking about.

304 legendary, 306 exotic, both will hit 310
-
1 ReplyI infused my raid chest piece at 304 with the crest of alpha lupi at 310. And my raid chest went all the way to 310
-
2 RepliesI felt like an idiot when I infused my 310 artifact into a 300 because I wanted the intellect and discipline role, now I'm stuck with a 308...
-
The higher you go, the more saturated it gets. If you have a 308, and infuse a 310 into it, you get a 309, then you need a perfect piece of gear/exotic to get it to 310. It's awfully troubling
-
7 RepliesLegendaries get 80% Exotics get 70%. So infusing a Legendary at 305 with anything that is 310 will result in 310 Infusing an Exotic at 305 with anything 310 will result in 309 (rounding up)

4 RepliesEdited by FenrisAlpha: 10/9/2015 1:55:05 PMI'm not quite sure I understand the 80% rule, I think Bungie confirmed that number at some point on a post or weekly update but didn't elaborate. I'm fairly certain there's more to it than just 80%. Anyone who has experimented with infusion in Destiny would know that when infusing an item at 260 with an item at 300 is much less effective than infusing an item at 290 with an item at 300. The real question is do you get 80% of the difference or does your lower level become 80% of the higher level item's light level? I personally think it's more complexed than a simple 80%. For example: I infuse a 305 or a 306 with a 310. How does that turn into a 310 if there is an 80% rule?
-
1 ReplyExotics into exotics only yields about a 70% return rate. That's why a 305 doesn't go to a 310 if the fuel is exotic. Bungie wants to deter players from using 310 exoics as infusion fuel.
-
A fully leveled infusion gun grants 6-7, 5 if you're above 300
-
I wish I seen this earlier.. my supercell is chilling at 309 now lol
-
I've noticed if you infuse something with <5 difference you get the full amount. So a 306>310 would give you a 310. It has for me at least anyway.
-
I infused my 302 raid gauntlets into my new 308 ones because I didn't want hand cannon reload to replace my scout rifle one and it went to 308

Thanks

4 RepliesMy understanding is you get 80% of the difference. So in my mind with 310 infusion into others you can never get 310. Unless of course, you find 310 and don't infuse it. Just my understanding so far.
-
Yup, happened with my 1000 Yard Stare. Very annoying.
-
1 ReplyThey should make it so anything 310 infused with something 300+ should always be 310. Bungie's tries implementing grind every chance they get
-
2 RepliesLegendary infuse rate is 80%. Exotic infuse rate is 70%.
-
5 RepliesSGA: Use the infusion calculator beforehand and not feel stupid. Easily Googled, oft ignored, the Destiny Infusion Calculator!! Seriously, it's too damn easy to not -blam!- this up.
-
1 ReplyI infused my 310 spindle to my 303 raid sniper and it was bumped up to 310. Maybe because it was an exotic, but it still worked.

3 RepliesIf you're trying to infuse a legendary from 305 to 310 it will be 310 If you're trying to infuse an exotic from 305 to 310 it will be 309. Exotics are different.
-
Yep happened to me. 309 Saint-14 on my Titan.
-
3 Replies5 difference legendary to legendary. 4 with legenday into exotic. Otherwise it will be 80%. Or 70% for exotics.
-
Infused my 310 ToM into my 305 pulse rifle, got it to 310
-
Did a 310 in a 304 and the 304 became 310.

4 RepliesEdited by TheBigChicklet: 10/8/2015 5:53:50 PMNOTE: 80% infusion value applies EXCEPT when you infuse an exotic with gear more than 5 light away, then it's 70%. Found this tidbit on multiple sites after infusing with a calculator by my side and trying to confirm/debunk the 80% rule. It always rounds up, but use a calculator next time you infuse. "The difference between the two pieces" X 0.8 = increase to old gear As the gap shrinks, the less you lose. Never infuse a gap less than three points - unless you have marks to burn, and need to raise gear a couple of points for a second infusion that IS the level you want to get to. I've started dropping 310 exotics on my warlock almost as a rule, and I'm stoked to start infusing pieces that got me through the 280's and 290's. But I can't seem to melt that 299 blue pulse rifle I stumbled on as a 270-something. I still rock that thing during Oryx because I got used to the bounce it has (think VoC) even though it's not full auto. I wish I could make that thing legendary, but soon it will be part of something greater... Maybe my new Red Death? *calculator*
