Yeah, I'm calling your bluff Bungie.

You really think we're stupid, don't you? These microtransactions are simply a way to milk more money out of your loyal fans. You're exploiting the younger population the same way Candy Crush Saga exploited kids by them using their parents credit cards to buy stuff. And to the older audience, you are simply thinking we'll buy into it. You say we'll never need them, you say that it's only cosmetics but we all know that's not the truth. You will eventually put weapons and armor that give you an advantage over players who choose to abstain from these purchases. This a poor business tactic that free-to-play MMOs use to garner profit but we bought your game and expansions and there is no reason for these transactions besides corporate greed. If it does only stay cosmetic then cool that's fine, but I highly doubt, with your (Bungie's) reputation in this game, that that will always be the case We know where this is going, and I, for one, am appalled. EDIT: This post isn't about having the money to buy this or not. Never once said anything about that. For those of you that couldn't gather that, you should probably invest more in reading lessons than emotes. EDIT 2: We're trending guys, keep it up! EDIT 3: If you disagree with me, please give me an educated rebuttal rather than just calling names. I'm open to discussion and compromise on how this should work as well as the speculation of others. • I don't believe bungie made this decision. I believe activision has a big say in how to turn profit, being the publisher and all. I mean, we're talking about the company that puts it's corporate dick into the video game industry annually with call of duty, which makes a butt load of money. Destiny and the first two expansions was supposed to be just destiny, while TTK would've been the first expansion. But bungie was rushed to finish the game by activision and activision also saw an opportunity for more profit by separating the expansions.

    • 1. It's just unfortunately the way games are going. 2. If they actually follow through with putting out content I get to play for free because idiots need to be able to moonwalk or do the Carlton, I'm not that mad about it. Games need upkeep and that along with dlc costs money to make. You'd think all these people complaining about "being punished" for not paying for the dlc would be happy they will get free dlc.

I will first answer your statement about educated rebuttals by saying you are posting your own speculations of them adding weapons and armor as facts and for reasons against them adding this feature, so before making a claim when bungie themselves said there will never be these kind of items sold make an argument based of the facts given not speculation. Secondly, these are cosmetic purchases it is like the weapon skins in CoD and player skins in minecraft, they are entirely OPTIONAL and have no impact on the game what-so-ever, they are for people who want to customize their character more which is fine. Third, they are a corporation not a charity service they are here to make money, I know crazy right, and if these items help them to make some extra money to give out free content or make the game better then I am for it, as long as they remain true to their statement about not adding guns and armor unless they add a transmog system and the guns and armor that they sell are skins that add no advantage.

I like the game, they've made $130 off of me. (Yes they don't get the full amount etc) point is, That's more than two full games. So, I'm not really going to listen to the whole "we need money to fund game features" mantra. It's a money grab. Whether it turns into the power leveling money grab of the century I guess we will see. Will they make destiny 1 free to play eventually? Is this the first step towards that? Perhaps. If you say, no - that is ridiculous... I would venture destiny 2 is not going to be for old gen consoles. It just gives a little pause as to what their real plans are. And if emotes are the content that makes us want to "throw money at the screen" then it's a sad day.

      • Well the fact is you and many others are speculating. You don't KNOW that Bungievision "will eventually put weapons and armor that give you an advantage over players who choose to abstain from these purchases". You just don't. Not even the honchos at Bungie (or Activision) knows for sure, and what their plans really are we will all find out together and not a moment before they are ready to tell us. Is it likely? Yeah, I'd say so, based on the way that the digital economy is growing. Microtransactions can be very lucrative, because not only do they subsidize development costs allowing the games to be "sold" cheaply or even for free, thereby ensuring the largest possible player base, but they also provide a very good return on investment, as they represent a persistent, ongoing revenue stream that is cheap to create and sell (once development on the main game is complete, anyway). Is there a damned thing we can do about it now? Nope. If or when things get to the point you describe, then just stop playing. Until then, why fuss so much about it? We are going to get more content for free, at least for a while. And who knows? They might even keep their word-- stranger things have happened. I just don't understand the level of consternation about this issue without any indication that it's going to become a problem over the medium-term, at least. They will still want to sell Destiny 2, after all, and to do that they need to maintain a significant player base they can build on, and they can only burn so much goodwill before they lose that. They aren't idiots.

you said" we all know that there gonna start selling weapons and armor for silver" when that is actually pretty unlikely also what exactly is bungies "reputation"

      • Cause they totes sold season passes on game release this time, and they are totally selling must have items for silver. I mean like at least Border lands had to decency for mini dlc's. Or black ops selling skins and wolves for money. But emotes that don't affect anything in game? Ahhh hell nah man that's dumb. Right!?

      • Better than blizzard (who also have a close relationship with Activision) buy the game expansions subscription and micro transactions which originally were cosmetic but then they added buying levels and made the cosmetic pets do something and the paid ones be better at it.

      • One of destiny's most defining characteristics is the grind. Bungie isn't going to let you pay a couple bucks just to let you skimp out on hundreds of hours of gameplay. It will be purely cosmetic. Also, your remark on bungie's reputation is entirely unfounded. When have they ever let someone pay to win? Never. Again, it will be purely cosmetic.

        • Educated rebuttal. I work hard for the money I make, aside from sliding my fiancee sone dough, paying my bills, putting food on the table etc etc, I set some money aside for myself. I like to do whatever it is I want to do with my extra play money, weather it be a round of beers, a gram of weed, or an emote and visually appealing things to me in a game why does it matter? There's nothing that states you NEED to buy anything Bungie sells, yet here you are acting like they're putting a gun to your head. This is my hobby, if I find little micro transactions for cosemetic things appealing I will but it. Nobody bats an eye at forza selling car packs, these "free to play games" selling premium items..... Yet these guys offer COSMETIC items and all if a sudden it's pay to win. Absolutely pathetic.
