"Adds" is stupid
Who else is sick of people screeching about "adds" the whole time you're raiding?
Just shut up or call them something else.
example: "KILL ADDS"
"IM GAY FOR ADDS"
"ADDS OVER THERE"
"HMNNNGGGG ADDS"

They're additions to the objective. Therefore they are adds.

What would you rather call them? Adds works very well as an abbreviated generic term to refer to the never ending cannon fodder enemies that keep coming at you, it's a lot simpler than finding a plural adjective for each enemy in the game that spawns infinitely.

Not because I think it's the wrong word, or that any one person has an "obsession" with it, but because there are so many fights with adds. In fact, I don't know a single boss that doesn't involve adds. Now, I don't frequent mmo's at all, but I'm pretty sure not every single boss fight in an mmo involves swarms of adds that are more difficult to kill than the boss. I mean really. It can't be that hard to engineer a boss fight that is centered around fighting a boss, and not legions of thralls. Now oryx is a good step forward. Instead of fighting adds and intermittently taking potshots at the boss, you fight him with coordination and consistency. You're bullets aren't what deals the most damage, it's the arena's own design that does. Now, there are still adds, but in this fight they're more manageable, and less of the focus Tl;dr: less adds in boss fights, more boss in boss fights Edit: shield brothers is also pretty good at this. Mobile bosses, lots of movement (perhaps too much) but still the adds often provide as much of a challenge as the bosses do when you're desperately trying to run from a charging mau'ual.

Mobs, adds, alts, mains, toons, DPS, PVE, PVP, proc (rate), RNG, HP, etc. are all things you can thank MMOs for and the RPGs (both software and tabletop) before them. I don't think you're going to change convention now.
