BLACK SPINDLE TODAY (ADVICE/STRATS)!!!!
You can get the black spindle again today!

SGA: Taken take more damage from raid weapons, so raid primaries will be a huge plus today (only drop from oryx)
SGA: Add control!! Shoot the black bubbles FIRST so enemies quit spawning. If two of you have amazing guns, let them be boss DPS while one person is add control entirely. This will help very much with the adds after killing the boss
Strategies:
Bubble
[spoiler]Have a Titan defender or two. Go place your bubble on the boss with blessing of light and make everyone have an EXOTIC sword. You sword the boss and he does very quickly![/spoiler]
Touch Of Malice
[spoiler]Again, have some defender Titans with Blessing Of Light and have as many of you with Touch Of Malice as possible. Simply aim and shoot until the boss dies while you stray in and out of the bubble to keep yourself alive while shooting him[/spoiler]
Most basic
[spoiler]Everyone bring your high impact snipers (highest impact currently in game is Black Spindle then Eirene RR4 then 1000 Yard Stare (yes these are all higher than the raid sniper). Everyone hide in the first room and switch between DPS on bosses face and add control when you need it. You STILL need to give priority to the black spawning bubbles or you will be overwhelmed at the end by adds! And finally, everyone have offensive supers to really help clean up the adds[/spoiler]

Black Spindel no longer drops at 310 UNLESS you're light level 300+ then you have a high chance of it dropping at 310.

Who needs strategy when you can just sword everything that moves? Got to the wizard room: "Hey, there's still a witch in that corridor!" Me: No problem, you shoot the vandals. *runs in room* "You're going to take on the wizard alone?"- tone of skeptical disbelief" "Yeah, I got it!" *mid swing* 2 seconds later It's dead, let's go!

I gave it a try today with two of my buddies and got it on the second run. On the final run got him down with 3+ minutes to spare on adds. -My advice is to have a variety of elemental weapons between you and your fire team. -Use a high attack/impact LMG -switch weapons and/or pop a heavy synth before you reach third relic door and one before fighting Draksis. Running from then to the final fight will allow you to pop another the heavy synth. -I had void sword up until the boss then switched to Barons Ambition which does a ton of good damage. -Have of course close to 290+ light level. -make sure you all done die before reaching the Taniks door or its closed. Have to start from from the very beginning. (Saying this just in case anyone doesn't know) -keep calm, and kill Draksis first before the adds. Make sure you have someone who checks on adds from time to time but also helps tether/bubbles with blessings cuz you're going to need all that extra shield. Good luck.

My advice is a mix of two strategies and it was the only way my group was able to pull it off after 6 hours of trying. When you get to the boss clear out the enemies. Once you have done that have a titan with blessings and saint 14 up on his platform and kay into him until he is around half health. Regroup and clean out all the ads and blights again as quick as possible. Now go back to the bosses platform throw down another bubble and go to town until he dies. Immediately go after adds a stormcaller helps here. Make sure you clear the blights right away or more ads will spawn. This requires a titan and everyone to have a good sword. If everyone has an exotic sword it becomes a cake walk. We did this and finally beat it first try after 6 hours of failure.

Walk into the boss room with 7 minutes left if you can. Kill blights. There's 2-3. Kill adds. When adds are done DPS boss. At 75% 2-3 blights spawn. Kill blights. Kill adds. DPS boss to 50%. More blights. Kill the 2-3. Kill adds. DPS boss to 25%. Kill the last round of blights. Kill the adds. Finish off the boss.

Edited by m00ninite: 10/1/2015 3:19:08 AMMy group is 293-295, Nightstalker, Stormcaller, and Defender/Sunbreaker (tried both) and closest we've gotten was boss down but still quite a few ads to clear, probably needed another solid minute. I'm sure this can be streamlined with dozens of attempts but after 4 we decided it just wasn't fun any longer. Fastest we got to the boss room was with roughly 7 minutes left I believe. First we tried with the Defender and rushing the boss with swords and Blessing of Light as I saw detailed in another thread. Legendary swords though, so perhaps that was an issue. He didn't seem to go down all that fast and we were out of heavy swipes pretty quick and had to retreat. Will have exotics by next Armsday since apparently once you complete the quest you must wait until then to obtain it? Also, without raid primaries it seems like there are too many shielded enemies to really keep the ads in check with any level of ease, even with trying our hardest to take out the Blight orbs any time one came up. Only I have a highly infused Telesto or Invective where the others are still running all legendary weapons, so perhaps this also is an issue when it comes to just how much DPS we can actually output. I think once we get some burn damage primaries, and we go at this again we can get it though. Nightstalker and Sunbreaker need to focus boss every time they have Super, while in between everyone focuses ads, and the Stormcaller spends Super on clearing larger amounts of ads and giving orbs to the team. Obviously can't say 100% this will work, but it seemed to be what got us the closest, and to be fair, the others in my group still haven't really min/max'd their gear to optimize armor bonuses, etc, and I think that for this type of a mission you really need everything on your side, not just wearing a 297 blue for the sake of being 297.

My fireteam primarily focused on ads and blights first until they got down to manageable levels then we DPS boss again. Once more ads spawned rinse and repeat. I heard another good strategy is to just charge and kill boss as quickly as possible with shotguns + swords + supers. Just keep charging at him (if you die just respawn and keep at it till he's dead). Then just focus on killing ads. Also try to clear the first 2 rooms within the first 3 minutes so you have 7 mins or so on last room.
