Since, patch 2.0 people have been in a rage about the sunbreaker subclass. The first response is to scream "NERF" on the forums and hope it so. However, no one offers an actual solution. My idea for the nerf/tweak would be a reasonable one.
Move health to a level that would allow a one-shot headshot by high impact snipers like every other super that guardians can use while traveling (i.e. bladedance, golden gun, storm caller). This would allow for a more reasonable killing potential given that sunbreakers can regain health upon kills, if they have that perk selected.
I hope this reaches moderators and most of the community. Give me your thoughts below.
Edit 1: Thanks for all of the discussion!
Edit 2: Pushing 500 responses. Thanks everyone.
Edit 3: To those glancing at my stats and seeing my 300 Hunter: you are failing to see 'time spent within crucible.' Yes, I started TTK because I liked the look of the nightstalker. This does not mean that I don't have the ability to main all three classes.
Edit 4: To those thinking that this would cripple the class: my purposed nerf would still leave it as one of the strongest supers in the game.
Edit 5: over 600 responses! Thanks everyone!

15 RepliesI main a titan and I really don't care of they nerf sunbreaker. I'm not a crybaby huntard. That being said, what are you hunters gonna cry about next when they nerf health on sunbreakers?

12 RepliesThank you for calling this to my attention. I will now contemplate my life choices, then decide whether or not I will mute you. If I do, I will not say "Muted." If I don't, I will also not say "Muted." In fact, you probably won't ever find out whether or not I mute you. Just accept that one of two things will happen: A) I will mute you. B) I will not mute you. If I choose not to mute you, then I guess it won't matter. If I choose to mute you after all, it also won't matter. If you are still reading this incredibly (and intentionally) redundant comment, then you probably have a greater attention span than the average squirrel. If you are not still reading this, you still probably have a greater attention span than the average squirrel. Squirrels can't read, as far as I know. If you are a squirrel and you are reading this, please do not take offense. If you are not a squirrel and you are still, in fact, reading this comment, which I have posted on this thread, I hope that you will not take offense, either. Now that I think about it, there is no way for me, the author of this post, to know whether or not you, the reader of this post, are a squirrel. I can't see through the screen you are reading this comment on. Unless I can, in which case I will know whether or not you, the reader of this comment, which I have posted, are a squirrel. I may judge your life choices based on that information. Alternatively, I might not judge your life choices based on that information. If I do, I might not tell you. However, by the same token, I might tell you after all. At this moment in time, I do not know. While I am on the topic of time, what exactly is time? Is it a matter of perception, or is it a legitimate force present in nature? If it is, how did it come to be? It might be related in some way to squirrels, which you, the reader, may or may not be. But if you take a step back, you might realise that it might not be related to squirrels. I guess we'll never know.

5 RepliesSunsinger Rams can survive a headshot and they aren't the Tanky class so it makes sense a Titan should be able to survive a headshot without an exotic. All three classes are not supposed to be exactly the same. They should have advantages and disadvantages and I think bungee is starting to fill that role nicely. It's not like they are going to have any health leftover after the headshot. Pretty much one auto rifle shot will do the trick.

I agree warlock gauntlets are to OP

Ban pvp Problem solved
-
Agreed. That's literally all it takes. Not too difficult
-
I prefer the no nerf option and what you suggest is the maximum of what bungie should do.

Edited by Kuhutta: 9/23/2015 2:56:55 PMIf you think about it this is a better golden gun you are practically invincible plus the ability to insta kill anyone at any range and people behind cover its ridiculous! Why even have golden gun as a sub class on the hunter when you can just have this op sub class on the titan. I feel like this can be fixed easily keep the tankyness but make it 2 hammers to kill someone. You can easily kill multiple people with one ult and not die still even if you nerf it to that point.
-
Hammer needs less viability mid range as well. The AoE and homing abilities make its use too easy. Either needs damage drop off or a slower travel time.
-
3 Replieslet them be as they are, they got the short straw first year, let them pew pew some n00bs have fun titan's
-
2 RepliesAs somebody who is an avid sniper, and a -blam!-ing hardcore Sunbreaker, this sounds great to me
-
1 ReplyWhy nerf the tank of the game? No one cries when you get fisted of panicked around a corner by a unstoppable titan but when a titan gets a arc blade/ golden gun hybrid super it is a problem? Why can't we all agree this is our reward for dealing with Crucible Bullshit for a year with our less effective supers.
-
But what if they the over shield while they are standing in a sunspot, I don't think they should be one shot headshot there.
-
If it's true that Sunbreakers do not die in one high impact sniper headshot during their super then the damage resist needs to be toned down for PvP. I haven't tried to confirm this as I haven't played much PvP since all this PvE came out. The only supers that survive headshots are Sunsinger Rams or Fist of Havoc unstoppable Titans which makes sense as they add something to increase armour. If people don't understand why this needs to be changed then let's just hope bungie does.
-
Seems pretty okay
-
I would say that the OHK is fine and so is the healing, but they should he destroyed like bladedancer and have damn near no speed no health. Theyre trying to make everything equal so this is just one way. And titans, come at me.
-
1 ReplyTitans are supposed to be tanks so my vote would be just lessen their amount of hammers to base 3 and max of 4 or 5 to put it on par with GG. Then it will be a tankier less accurate GG class like I think was intended
-
"Logical"
-
14 RepliesSo nerf the sunbreakers cuz you snipers can't kill something in one shot for once? No. Same goes to the hunters who bitch because us Titans finally have a pvp worthy super.
-
5 RepliesI'd like to see some more tests done before resorting to nerfing the armor. Sunbreaker has some pretty high armor and recovery stats which both affect how many shots it takes to kill you. As far as I'm concerned if you're spec'd for max armor and recovery you should survive a high impact sniper headshot. But if a sunbreaker survives the shot while spec'd for max agility which lowers recovery and armor, then yea maybe the armor should be adjusted a little. I'm more in favor of the reduced hammer throws, you feel like the amount is just right for pve at the moment. But honestly I feel in pve the timer is a lot longer compared to all the other supers when you add up the damage you're dealing out. So reducing that would bring it more in line with the other mobile ranged supers.

3 Repliesstop and think nurf super mean harder raids / every think for you team stfu and get some skill pvp isn't every think this game had to offer
-
3 RepliesThis is what happened with golden gun. You scrubs are to butt hurt that your favorite class doesn't have a cool super so you want to nerf it because you are jealous of people who like the Titan subclass Sunbreaker. Like me I like it, and I think that night stalker is op but I'm not complaining about it. Just grow up, how about you go tell martians to nerf mars so we can -blam!-ing breath on the planet. Geez you -blam!- are so annoying even Justin bieber would say you are annoying.
-
Yeah I agree to that, it's a good idea
-
Plz nerf PvP only. PvE is tired of being punished for PvP nerfs.
