Why do you need to be level 40? Without TTK, you don't need to be that high for anything you can do. Not only that, you still wouldn't be able to get TTK gear, so you'd still basically be a level 40 with level 34 light...

There's not really much point at all. Level = what gear you can wear. If all the new gear is TTK exclusive, what would level 40 accomplish? The Year 2 vanilla exotics would be scaled down to level 34 in [i]any and all[/i] content you would be doing anyway.

Getting to level 40 is what allows you to use level 40 TTK gear. If you haven't bought TTK then you can't use TTK gear meaning level 40 is pointless and isn't use able by you
