Simply that. Will the Omolon weapons brand have a new replacement for the Hard Light, making it obsolete? First, if there's any doubt, the Hard Light is definitely affiliated with Omolon, apparantly as a very rare and awesome prototype! Look at the design of its barrel and the newly revealed Omolon weapons. Plus, the unique Hard Light exotic perk has the Omolon logo on it. So, will there be an auto rifle in that lineup of new, sci-fi, energy-based toys? Will it be on par with the exotic Hard Light and thus make it really not that special? (sad face! I love my Hard Light!) So, arguments for the Hard Light being obsoleted include: Hard Light was mainly a novelty, and not that great of an exotic, Weapon attacks will be rising AGAIN in TTK and new legendaries will be closer to earlier exotics of the past, Why WOULDN'T there be an auto rifle in this new linup of sci-fi weapons? Bungie clearly thought the idea was cool enough to just make ONE energy weapon to date, and it was an autorifle. Why skimp on a supposedly standard issue weapon? Arguments against the Hard Light being just a slightly-more-special autorifle: Hard Light is STILL an exotic, and will still be better than any legendary, Hard Light WILL be getting a stability buff, and, theoretically, will be rendered IMMUNE from damage falloff with distance (actual meaning of Bungie's words might be debatable), And, Hard Light has been referenced as being special and well-liked by the developers themselves. It seems Bungie wouldn't just forget about a favorite weapon. In fact, this reason alone seems to be why they are buffing it. So, what does everybody think? Will Hard Light be effectivly obsolete, or maybe, just not that special?
