If you're going on the press release Sony may have won. The backwards compatible feature IS strong and news worthy for Microsoft. But the big problem for them is this: if the so-called "console wars" are relying on exclusives and better games, then it's part of the story. FF7 being a PS4 exclusive (yes it was already noted on several sites it was announced as exclusive) as well as Shenmue 3 (which seems to be PC & PS) as well as additional exclusives for game content, then that may well be the thing that unbalances it toward Sony's favor. It's true you can't play your older games but with titles such as Fallout, Unchartered, Batman this month (which is getting an additional DLC exclusive for Playstation) then it'll eventually come down to this point: if you could trade backwards compatible ability for exclusive content on future games, which would you choose? I play old games still on my PS3 but it's usually out of the "nothing is good right now" reasoning. If Sony keeps the trend currrent and keeps players hooked on the exclusive content, then it may favor them . Personally, I'd rather have exclusive content vs. backwards compatible because it just seems a better overall deal everytime I buy a new game. As for VR and Hololens, it's not like Oculus is on the open market and everyone is buying it; I also believe Sony announced their VR a while back.....like months ago so I think it's a mute point. if you watch the Playstation press conference their big message was "console exclusive" and are driving this point home. It's a gamble on their hand but I think with gamers extremely please with all of the triple-A titles coming out starting this month alone, each new release only hammers that thought across. There are still Xbox players in Destiny who hold Sony grudges over the Hawkmoon and with more of this stuff bound to happen even more, it might be the crux that breaks the Xbox users.
