Dear Destiny Community,
Kindly, kindly shut the hell up. Let me first say, I'm not a bungie fanboy. I think that destiny is a good game with a lot of room for improvement. Yes, it needs more content. Yes, it sucks that they essentially cut content to resell, but guess what? Bungie is a business. Guess how businesses continue to stay in business? They make money. This is not a charity project, it is not a freelance small-time game. It is a Multi-million dollar project made for the purpose of making money. That's it.
Additionally, updates to the game are intended to improve the game. Yes, sometimes it creates issues. No, not every update is going to be uniquely tailored to what you want as an individual, but today's patch was good, great, fine, dandy, decent. Yet, no matter what happens, someone will always be crying like a spoiled brat over tiny issues. Get the -blam!- over it. Shut the hell up. I say this especially to those who have hundreds of hours of play time who still rant and whine. Shut the hell up.
Edit: For those of you saying that I am implying not to criticize, you are wrong. There is, however, such a thing as constructive criticism. Example:
"Vault space really needs to be increased. It's crippling to our character development to have such little available inventory and I now am in the position of having to scrap weapons due to no space."
VS.
"OMFG bungie you penis gobbling -blam!-ers NERF the last word because I got owned with it in PVP I can't believe you stupid pieces of shit and your gay patches!!!!1111"
See the difference?
Further, I think activision is a greedy crap publisher. That said, I'm simply stating that you can't expect unlimited content for free. Yeah, if you've played the game for 600 hours, it's gonna be boring.

3 RepliesOn the topic of dlc, you will have to agree to disagree with majority of the gaming community. You call it profit maximization; we call it exploitation. It's on the bleeding gold disc, and ostensibly our purchase price served to recoup their cost on developing it. They are hitting us with outrageous prices to access what we already paid to develop. Suffice it to say, short minded exploitation is not in the companies best interest if they view Destiny as a going concern. But they don't. They can't wait to push out Destiny 2 after they've milked everything they can with this bullshit Dlc. On the topic of the adequacy of the patch I cannot affirm or deny. It was a pvp motivated patch and I think destiny's pvp is garbage. To me, it was a frivolous waste of development resources and therefore a stupid -blam!-ing patch. Regards

Agree with the previous posts that state how well said your post is OP :) I think more constructive criticism would go a long way towards devs pushing updates and patches that are as good as yesterday's..

Yeah for the most part the forums are straight sewage water.

2 RepliesWhen faced with criticism there are two things you can do: 1.Listen to it and see if you can improve on the problem. 2. Completely ignore the problems and pretend that that game is perfect . Judging by the attitude of the forums, looks like they went with option 2

Edited by MochaKat: 12/2/2014 9:05:33 PMCouldn't take this seriously as soon as you said "this patch was fine, good, and dandy". I'll take it you haven't touched the Help forum..a glance over posts says a lot. Not to mention some of the changes in the update have been promised a bit back..quite a few times. Vault space increase has been asked for a decent time ago. Constructive criticism would imply they are taking all suggestions into account. Giving criticism does not mean they will use it.

3 RepliesJust because something isn't a "charity project" doesn't mean they have carte-blanche to release something immune from criticism because it is a "for profit" undertaking. What the hell point are you even trying to make? If Ford released a car with a giant chicken nailed to the top of it, I wouldn't then buy it, excusing the stupid chicken because, after all, they are trying to make a profit. Or if they sold it to me without wheels, and then offered me wheels for near the same price I paid for the entire car for example, I'd be annoyed, and would probably go on to the Ford forum and complain. Just like customers of Bungie have done here. Video Games are art. For a discerning individual they are in a different class to normal consumer items like a coat or a bog brush, and we expect more from them. This is a forum, exactly the place where views are heard, and rants are made. I actually love the game, play it all the time AND have opinions on what is good and bad. Total maverick I know, but that's just me ;-)

NERFS are a result of the "hard to obtain" weapons being not so hard to obtain. You can buy an exotic. If an exotic weapon was genuinely earned then you deserve to get owned in PVP by it. The user worked hard to obtain that it. An exotic weapon should feel special to own. Instead it feels like just a weapon with an extra perk. I believe I am giving bungie criticism that will help them keep active users. Exotic gear is the same way. I can only equip one item and everyone else seems to have that item. What incentive do I have to play if my level 30 player looks like every other one of that class? Bungie has a great idea to make people want to continue playing, and that is to make a raid gear reward a chance and not guaranteed, but I personally have lost my passion for the raid when I have to grind the same mission over and over. I have one raid armor piece. And I play the raid when several times a week just for fun or to help other players achieve difficult parts. Bungie does not reward these contributions. I love destiny and believe that what makes the game amaZing may also make it great. I believe it was intentionally designed with flaws for intrigue and user development. The criticism is what bungie what's in my opinion. The game becomes a living, breathing, representation of the people who play it. Keep helping bungie improve....just do it with respect. 1 ReplyMy point is more about people enabling bungie to make dumbed down games and then strip these dumbed down games to sell as content isnt what gaming is about for me and so many others i know. Some of us want to think outside of the box with so much repetition. Some of us want to be competitive and critic the more important topics of the game and its development, rather than seeing the support of what i call "call of duty" management. Blizzard is a more expansive company so maybe thats why they do this more than this development team but they do hotfixes constantly, they constantly answer the tough questions us critical thinkers are asking and give brutally honest answers because thats what feedback is, DeeJ isnt even level 30 on his character and makes very cryptic and non-stoic responses and then just ignores the more important questions like.. Why did the lead story writer of this game leave a year ago? Look at the maps and the gameplay before beta testings and launch, look at the lore and the depth in story this game had at one point during the 500 billion dollar production of this game. You want to enable the legitamacy of dumbed down "call of duty" games thats all you. They could of made so much more money if they let more comprehensive people give feedback during the development. This game didnt receive nearly any high ratings from any creditable organizations and thats because the ratings for once speak for themselves. My hunch is the avoidance of some sort of false advertisement claims (Not that im the type of person to sue over the disliking of a hobby)

the main problem i have with your argument
Bungie is a business. Guess how businesses continue to stay in business? They make money. This is not a charity project
yes its a business like every other game developer no one expects games to be free problem is with destiny it feels like "business > game" rather than with arguably any good game developer (which i used to hold bungie in this group) "game > business" Destiny was made to take as much money from its fans as it could with the whole cutting content/purposely not finishing parts of the game to sell to us later then 2 years later in 2016 they will release destiny 2 for full retail price to begin the cycle again (can link if people wanna see the part of the contract plan for destiny) there are plenty of other devs that have the opposite approach they make the game as best as they can possibly can make it and hope it sells on its merits and if its successful they sometimes make dlc to extend the experience and to the content thing ive been playing DA:I which didnt advertise as an "open world" game but as a "world hubs" even though it has arguably more and bigger world hubs than destiny you know showing honesty with the fan base and its content has yet to get repetitive/grindy hell i aint even completed the main story yet and im +60 hrs in
