Petition to have Bungie wipe all characters for launch
This way we all start on a level playing field... Those unfortunate enough to not get a taste of beta or late-comers to the show should start at the same point as all of us.

They can wipe the characters level in all just let the items remain that's all I truly want.

Agreed. I played the game knowing it was going to wiped. If I knew it was half way starting would of farmed glimmer and reputation like mad.

I don't get that argument either cause yeah it doesn't make sense for people who get the game later. I think that what is meant by the "level the playing field" argument is this: levels (as in your character level) would become really confusing. The level would become almost meaningless cause you'd get no information from that because beta players could have better gear than someone normal of a higher level. Then if they were to implement a matchmaking system that tries to pair people with their own levels then even that would become broken. I think this is what is meant by "leveling the playing field." Not just forcing everyone to start at some starting line for the sake of having a fair race. I understand that people start the game at different points in time, but this is the point of having levels, so we know the amount of time or skill someone has put into the game. If you made a clone of yourself and you started with all your gear from the beta from level 0 and your clone started with nothing at level 0, you would get to level 20 much faster than your clone. Having this advantage with just gear that you attained from a free open beta would cause imbalance.

How about this. Bungie resets the level everyone was at but they keep all their gear. Also the wipe may be necessary as the beta was a stand alone program (from what I understand)

May be a stupid reason to most if not all but I want a reset on characters just based on the fact that I just deleted armor/guns etc i couldn't use based on the level 8 cap. Now knowing there was some exotic stuff i deleted makes me worried if Bungie changes their minds I'd be one sad panda. OCD is the devil

I understand why people want a character wipe but this is not a good reason the beta was free and if anyone buys the game a week after the full release then they're already behind.

I'm for this. In the slim change they do carry the beta info over I'll be deleting mine anyway. I'm hoping there will be more to the character creator in the full game.

1 ReplyEdited by Azhidal: 7/28/2014 6:07:40 AMwell the best way to see if your accounts are going to get wiped is to use the companion app, for me it still shows I have my points, glimmer, etc... if these don't show up for you, check your connection if that's not it than chances are your data was deleted and reset. Also, 44 days till destiny launch.

1 ReplyNo one will truly start on a level playing field, Some people may get their copy a week or days earlier than everyone else and be higher levels at launch, Which doesn't even matter in the Crucible unless you go into other pvp events fully knowing gear is everything there. For those who just want to do PvE a level playing field means nothing, You will not adversely effect anybody else enjoyment of the game.
