FIFA bans Luis Suarez
Luis Suarez has been kicked out of the 2014 World Cup for his biting of Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini on June 24. The FIFA Disciplinary Committee on Thursday morning suspended the Uruguay striker for nine official national team matches and also banned him from any soccer-related activities for four months, including prohibiting him from entering any soccer stadium. And on top of all that, he was also fined a little more than $111,000.
Well there we have it folks, biting people in soccer is not allowed. Who would've known? And for anyone that wants to play Suarez Pac-Man, here you go. Link to the worlds reactions of Suarez.

  • Lol at FIFA killing hundreds of workers and then moralising over a bite. It's not like it's gonna stop him, that fella needs a shrink not a ban.

    • Why couldn't this have happened before the England vs Uruguay game.

    • FIFA have gone way too far when you consider that he's not even allowed to train, enter any stadium, be in Liverpool's team photo, or take part in any football related charity events. What is the need? Also mentioned in another thread already that FIFA and the other governing bodies make up their punishments as they go along. There's no system to it, they just throw whatever they like at players depending on how the media react to an incident.

The bloke is an disgrace to the beautiful game, this was his third offence of biting they should ban him for life. He got off way too leniently.

      • I don't know if it's fair to Liverpool, but Suarez certainly deserved this. If it were me in charge if the punishment, though, I'd probably give him a 2 year international play ban, but no club ban. I can't believe that there are some people who actually want Suarez banned for life. There's excessive, and then there's that.

        • The ban seems a bit to harsh for me, and very unfair for Liverpool that now has to play 4 months without it's star player (the will probably sell it thogh). There are some players that with their kicks have ruined other players carreers, and all they get is at most a 3 match ban like the guy who broke Falcao's leg and thanks to him he's been several months without playing, and he can't play the world cup, or lets not forget De Jong's kick to Xabi Alonso on the previous world cup final. Suarez's bite was out of place but it will definitley not cause any serious injury or anything to Chielini, so I think it was a really harsh punishment from FIFA specially considering that the one that will be mostly affected is Liverpool who had no implication on the tournament, they should have at most banned him from this World Cup

He deserves every bit of the ban. Anyone saying that it is not deserving of a red card is a -blam!-ing idiot. Good on Chiellini for making fun of the vampire.

Why is Italy so good at rustling players jimmies? First it was Zidane and now it's Suarez.
