The movie has changed from "The Hobbit: There and Back Again" to
"The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies". There's also The Desolation of Smaug Extended Edition with over 25 minutes of new scenes.
"Our journey to make The Hobbit Trilogy has been in some ways like Bilbo's own, with hidden paths revealing their secrets to us as we've gone along. “There and Back Again” felt like the right name for the second of a two film telling of the quest to reclaim Erebor, when Bilbo’s arrival there, and departure, were both contained within the second film. But with three movies, it suddenly felt misplaced—after all, Bilbo has already arrived “there” in the "Desolation of Smaug".
When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.
And so: "The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies" it is.
As Professor Tolkien intended, “There and Back Again” encompasses Bilbo’s entire adventure, so don’t be surprised if you see it used on a future box-set of all three movies.
Before then however, we have a film to finish, and much to share with you. It’s been a nice quiet time for us—Jabez and I happily editing away in a dark cave in Wellington—but those halcyon days are quickly coming to an end. It will soon be time to step into the light. Expect to see and hear much about The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies in the coming months.
And there’s also The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Extended Cut, which we’re in the process of finishing, with over 25 mins of new scenes, all scored with original music composed by Howard Shore.
It’ll be a fun year!"
Not sure if this was already posted, so sorry if it was.

1 ReplyThat actually sounds badass. Hopefully their will be large battle scenes in this film. Battle of Helms Deep was really awesome in the Twin Towers
-
2 Repliesi haven't seen feanory around here in sooo long :(
-
2 RepliesI liked the first one better
-
3 RepliesReally should have stuck with the two films formula. The first was fine for the most part but I felt the second had too little stretched out over too long of a period.
-
3 RepliesI preferred There and back again to be honest, it was more... gentle for lack of a better word. The battle of five armies is very blunt, like its just screaming at movie goers "There's gonna be action!"
-
I had always kind of assumed this would happen.
-
5 RepliesIt makes more sense after reading the book. I wonder if the Eagles will return!

Third movie, three "the's".
Half Life 3 confirmed.
8 RepliesDoes that mean they will encounter saurons armies or what ? did not read the article just got it by reading the title.
-
1 ReplyI feel that this title is designed to tell casual movie-goers what the movie is about, There And Back Again was far better.
-
7 RepliesI wonder how it'll conclude. Linking to LotR somehow?

Oh well.

Love it, There and back again probably should of just been the title. I've nearly finished the book aswel! Only a few pages to Go! After reading most of the book, they have done such a excellent job on making this into another great series. Much Love.

For a second I thought you were going to post something saying that it was being renamed to something about Smaug and I was readying my jimmies for rustling.
