Scout rifles seem like should feel like marksmen rifles in other games. But it's like you've replaces 7.62 ammo with a 22. It's incredibly unrewarding to use. Deadman's hand might be the only exception in terms of power and there's no elemental bonus. Why does wicked implement take 4 taps to kill in cruicible? But a bow or Thorn nearly halves your hp...

THANK YOU

3 RepliesAnyone recall Fellwinters Lie from D1? Best scout rifle in the whole game 😂😂😂😂 (I'f you know, you know 😂😂)
-
3 RepliesIt's because they don't want people camping out of range of enemies essentially using a primary ammo sniper

I think they are okay in pvp, but definitely need a buff to crit damage in pve. Earlier in the season I ran wicked implement in a nightfall with stasis burn and was so disappointed. On hero, I couldn't even 1 tap minors with a crit while my teammates were easily slaughtering them.

Edited by ZiL: 1/7/2024 10:30:12 PMI wonder if stasis weapons with chill clip would benefit from headstones spawning frim shattering enemies. It would really help with endgame dps and make it more like ignitions. Polaris lance and wicked impliment seem like they should be on par with eachother. And also allowing the aspect that lets primary ammo break crystals easier apply to allies also.

I think they just don’t really have a place in PvP anymore. They excel in long range, but 9 times out of 10 you’ll get outplayed by a bow or a sniper.
-
9 RepliesJade rabbit is stupid good. So is mida, it’s amazing.

7 RepliesKinetic slot primary ammo weapons are better than energy slot primary ammo weapons.... run through them in your head... Auto I'd take Firefright over Ammit these days... HC Rose or take your pick of the exotics... Sub machine, Immortal or Stasis one Scouts, Hung Jury, Jade, Mida. DMT, Randy's... Pulse rifles, Messenger, Belisaurus.. exotics could argue either way I guess although I think a majority would come down on the kinetic choices side. Sidearms. pretty close I'd choose between Allied demand and drang (although I view Dead mans hand as the best sidearm even if it's a hc) Bows I don't think it makes a difference but hard to argue Wishender is currently favoured. Scouts are off as they changed them in the new checkmate gamemode so you've been flipping from three to four taps etc...
-
2 RepliesScouts are single shot precision weapons and so they're going to have to suck for roughly 80 percent of the people playing at any given time, similar to hand cannons.
-
5 RepliesBecause if scout rifles were any stronger they’d be op. They’re perfect right where they are. Stop using them at melee range and you’ll have better luck. Get yourself a keep away/box breathing glissando, easy 3 tap
-
To a certain extent I agree with you, but you forgot to add Polaris Lance and Tears of Contrition are good. Tears of Contrition can roll with triple tap and fourth times the charm at the same time. But yeah they feel weak. I got a reply telling me that Bungie didn't want to promote people camping in the back with scouts and whatnot.

Remember Colovance Duty in D1? Challenging snipers all day long with two-taps. Didn’t even have to be head shots! Miss those day! 🤪
-
150’s and 180’s are pretty good after the buffs they got back in 2022.
-
Scouts are weak because they allow people to sit in a far corner of the map in relative safety. If only they could apply the same logic to sniper rifles.

4 RepliesWhen scouts are strong everything else is weak

8 RepliesPrecision Scout Rifles, like Wicked Implement, have a 1 second TTK. This is slow, but they make up for the slow TTK with a very forgiving 2-crit/2-body optimal. Other archetypes of scouts offer somewhat better TTKs. Lightweight scouts, like Mida Multi-tool, kill in 0.9 seconds. High-impact scouts, like Jade Rabbit, kill in 0.8 seconds. Rapid-fire scouts, like Randy's Throwing Knife, kill in 0.93 seconds. In general, Scouts have a slower TTK than pulses, Autos, or handcannons, because scouts have much better range. Scouts have the best TTKs among all primaries once you get past around 45-50 meters. After that point, they are hands-down the best primaries (bows are also strong). Scouts struggle for 2 main reasons: 1) The majority of PVP maps are small, and there are not many lanes that extend past 45 meters. 2) Snipers perform the same role as scouts, but they have the ability to instantly kill targets.

This is a silly sci-fi game. It’s not supposed to be like real life. With that being said, no FPS is like real life, because too many people have watched to much screen or film shows, they would die of boredom and/or frustration and the game would ultimately never succeed.

Edited by iKARUS: 1/6/2024 11:47:01 PMIn season of the witch scouts felt really good It seems they reverted it back to how it was prior. There's a couple great feeling scouts outside of exotics. The new variation of the iB one is kinda nice. Hung jury as always. Randy's with cascade is nutty. Or the one from GGs. Rapids are basically useless outside Randy's. Except a glorious sunset weapon I shall not name x; It's mostly high impacts or precisions with anything stability to tac on are the only scouts worth using. Buts it's passive and slow. And honestly, Playing that way, you might as well use bows or high impact/aggressive pulses. Or hell the obvious choice of 120s.. And a lot of exotics don't have many benefits that feel worth while other than mida or jade, the rest of them require to work extra than a legendary counter part to do fun synergies in pvp (that is)

3 RepliesEdited by Willakkuma: 1/7/2024 12:04:51 AMSpace magic, bro. Learn the shooter's parameters. You can't compare IRL 7.62 / .22. By comparison, I can shoot my 3 inch mag 20 gauge slug gun out to 200 yards. Destiny shotguns?? - good for about 7 meters. Bows. Yo ure asking the wrong question. Ask - why are they in the game and you'll have your answer. There will never again be a MIDA type scout rifle meta as we had years ago. Never. Sorry you missed it.

32 RepliesThorn is a scout rifle ?

You know why? Space Magic and balance.

5 RepliesI, for me, Wicked Implement feels like it should've been a rapid fire, 260rpm scout. It stuns champions via slow, by hitting crits, but the weapon feels like it needs tuning. 🤔
-
1 ReplyWicked Implement sucks, that's why Try Polaris Lance
