Destiny 2 was released in 2017. In roughly 4 years and a half, we've beaten emperors, rebels, god-level threats, nightmares, and soon a witch queen. And their armies. We have crushed every threat so far.
And yet we haven't gained any ground. No area retaken, no planet, nothing. More than 4 years stomping every enemy in sight, and we're still stuck in that damn city.
So... when will we finally gain something? Because so far, everything we did was basically in vain. And it's not even logical, since, as I said, we've kicked powerful enemies and yet areas with only little enemies can't be retaken. We even are allied to a cabal faction, and a fallen faction. We can't even retake Earth.
It really feels annoying that nothing we do matters. There's no progression, no change. It doesn't even make sense, lore-wise.
I'm not asking for much, but at least a real proof that what we do has an impact. And maybe a new social area outside the tower. A town on another planet, maybe. I don't know, SOMETHING.

Just give Bungie another $79.99 and you too can make progress toward the dangling golden carrot.

Well the first reason is : video game ! Now if you look at the narrative, we’re fending off threat after threat to protect the Last city like it’s a hobby. But even though Zavala said that we are not conquerors back in Forsaken, we did some conquering over the year ! To name a few examples : the Dreadnought, the Leviathan, Savathun’s throne world starting from tomorrow…

3 RepliesEDZ and the cosmodrome should be vaulted(why the -blam!- did we bring the cosmodrome back). Feels like if they wanted to add in someplace like Old Chicago that would’ve made sense but as of right now, I feel like we need two “finale” missions that are us finally pushing the Red Legion, Hive, and House of Dusk out of Europe and Asia.
-
1 ReplyIn addition - it's also because Zavala is a coward. He is more focused on defending the Last City, then expanding and reclaiming

10 RepliesHashtag NOT a legend! 😂😂😂 Your supers and guns have been nerfed! 😂😂😂 You went to the dark side, and also got nerfed! 😂😂😂 Soon you'll be fighting light bearers too! And you'll still be NOT a legend! 😂😂😂 Light or Darkness is not the enemy. The true enemy in this game is Emptiness! An EMPTY game!!! 😂😂😂 Empty!

1 ReplyBut we have gained ground. Just last week I switched to Geico and saved on my auto insurance!

Edited by SparkleGuy: 2/20/2022 5:23:17 PMThe fallen city on europa could gain a hub like the iron temple on Felwinter’s peak in d1 Also, I full heartedly agree

Hence, ever-evolving world, he-he.

Without us doing all you mentioned there would be no last city. There would be no humans left on earth or anywhere else in the universe. We are not fighting to conquer, we fight to survive and protect the only place we can call home. That is what destiny is about.
-
It was not in vain ,the last city is still standing because of everything we have done
-
Then why would you ever go to an area to patrol, if we vanquish our enemies from there?
-
4 RepliesWhile I agree with needing more areas. I actually want the story to go in the other direction. I don’t wanna see us only win. I want us to have a meaningful loss where we have to spend an entire dlc year as the underdog. It’s getting too boring when we just win all the time.

Edited by Unbreakable Patches: 2/19/2022 1:39:36 AMRetaking entire planets isn’t going to be very plausible when we don’t actually have the numbers to do it. Strikes, taking out high priority targets, etc, is one thing. But we’re not exactly equipped to be able to actually hold these places down. Taking too much away from the Last City could very well be suicide, not to mention.

I would of thought the Red War demonstrated just how hard it is to hold one City. Much less two.
-
We use to have the farm, also when they added the farm it was basically confirmation that there are settlements outside the city
-
if they can't even fix the original Tower, what makes you think we'd make any progress in the universe?
-
1 ReplyIf you thought that was bad look at all the build up And hyping guardians to become the next generation Of iron lord’s during the rise of iron Dlc in order A year later had all knowledge of it retconned Into oblivion because of catering to new players That never played the previous game even Zavala didn’t recognise us at the beginning of The red war campaign neither did Cayde or Ikora.
-
I’m not sure we have enough guardians to expand our territories.
-
It's not about the ground you take it's about the friends you make along the way
-
And we even ended up losing the farm. :( Maybe the lore reason is that there aren't enough guardians to protect the city; civilians can only defend so much territory while guardians are invincible compared to them.
-
Yeah it’s like everything has happened in a matter of weeks. The fall of Gaul to the exorcist of Savvybaby. We’ve just had no time to take ground!

First off the red war killed of a bunch of guardians when they lost their light, not to mention the last city's population has bound to be impacted by the cabal assault. How many people where killed by that attack? Then the darkness and the pyrimid ships blipped Mars, titan and Mercury out of existance.. At a stroke wiping out any beachheads humanity might of had on those worlds plus destroying the warmind rasputin who had regained some measure of his golden age power. Then there was the vex invasion of the last city.. We fought that off BUT the fact the vex where able to invade in the first place proves your assumption wrong. Humanity has always been In somewhat of a bind, just because a few guardians with surgical attacks have won decisive battles against powerful foes doesn't change the fact that we still lack the strength to take AND hold settlements for any significant amount of time.. We ain't expanding any time soon. We gotta hold on to what we have atm

If you want to see a retaken solar system, you'd need a D3. We have retaken the solar system almost entirely, the enemies that remain should be gone because we've wiped them out. Unfortunately that isn't how this works. If Bungie remove house Dusk and the Red Legion from Earth for example, they might as well remove Earth entirely since there's no longer a reason to be there. There's a limit to what they can do to the game world to show that things are moving forward.
-
Maybe the farm?
-
Edited by NoHumorMan: 2/19/2022 2:14:10 AMWe've gained no ground since D1 launch. It's been absurd to think we still haven't liberated Earth yet. I would love to get single missions and strikes to other Earth locations. I don't need more patrol areas, though that would be nice... but just want to see new places.
