Its literally called trials 'LABS'.

Preparing experiments. Supervision of experiments as they run. Taking precise and accurate notes of experiments and their results. Sample preparation and testing. Cleaning of lab equipment. Routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory equipment. This is literally what wikipedia says about what they do in laboratories. THEY TEST -blam!- AND THEN IMPROVE THE GOOD STUFF AND FIX THE BAD STUFF. It really wasnt even that bad. Edit: even though bungie said it themself that this was a one time thing then its back to normal, theres a reason they put igneus hammer as a flawless reward and not something better like eye of sol or messenger(dont get me wrong though,the hand cannon is good but there are better weapons). Because they didnt want the reward to be something amazing when they knew that its a test mode and not the real thing. They wanna bring variety to trials and thats good because it encourages new players to come play trials, new stuff=more intersting=more players. And in all honesty its pretty fun if you play with the right players, not with some toxic lfg -blam!-. Knowing when to be aggresive, knowing how to commumicate, it all revolves around this gamemode. The only two things that annoy me a lil bit is that i think the flag should be in the middle all times but if you are losing with more than 2 points then the flag moves to your location. And the other is stasis crystals in general, its a shame that half of trials is just shatterdive, i used it because its the only counter to shatterdive. I believe shatterdive needs a nerf but not that it becomes useless or else the onlu ability that hunters can quickly one shot with is a throwing knife. 2nd edit: i love when the communtity discusses about these things, because bungie for the most listen's, but not that much. Anyway its still cool to see all kinds of different opinions wheter it be bad or good. As a community its good that we have divercity and unionship with the some of the game mechanics/modes/weapons, ect. Anyway hope bungie sees this post(likely not).   • Next up, they should implement a trials game mode with no weapons, no abilities, no supers and only fists. Hell, maybe even do a snowball edition for Christmas tide...

      • I get paid to do quality testing at my work. We shouldn’t be testing something that we paid for. We shouldn’t be Bungies quality assurance testing trials and finding bugs and misprints (Kill Taken with a bow) on challenges for example. Yes, we paid for Trials as part of the season. That’s why quality control exists at companies.

      • As for my own little part, I really disliked it on friday and saturday as a solo being crushed by teams again and again But then I played last night and it was actually quite fun and clutchy. I had my fair share of game lost but comes out of it quite happy with my monday evening. Now to be honest, the control point could come later in the game, like when it is 3-0 for the losing team for instance, as a way to help reverse the match outcome, because honestly on the first rounds, we all just ignored the point and went straight against each other.

      • It was okay, i found a fair few engagements cut short coz one dude capped the zone while everyone was distracted, same with Survival i hate being mid-gunfight only for the game to just be like "nah funs over onto the next one" Having said that there being an objective was kinda fun in certain matches, others not so much. But -blam!- i went Flawless again so I'm happy

      • Having another option to win was a good move. You can win by capturing a zone solo. That’s pretty neat.

        • It’s more that they pushed out a crappy mode with no other option for trials this weekend. On top of that it was evident that they didn’t do mass testing before putting it out. Every other time they used labs, there was an alternative option for the same rewards. Most of the issues could’ve been solved by simply letting people who want to play trials, the game mode they hyped up massively, have the option between the classic mode and the lab.

          • Sure it’s an experience that, however Bungie has already set the precedent that when they do a Labs it is it’s own thing, separate from the normal play list(s). This way if you don’t like it you can go to the playlist you normally play. But this time, if you didn’t like Trials Capture, you couldn’t play the normal Trials. And if you hated it enough it could make you want to stop playing Trials for the weekend entirely. Between the game mode and the map, this is the least Trials I’ve played this season. If they wanted to see how people liked it, offer the pinnacles in each mode. If people don’t bother to play the Labs for the pinnacle or stop quickly after getting it and go back to the normal Trials mode, then you have your answer.

            • The main issues with this gamemode. 1. It promoted camping a lot. 2. The lower of the first round would have the point spawn in their spawn promoting camping. 3. The cap point could be guarded easily with a bubble a well a rift with stag and arcsoul a barrier. Etc. Which again promoted camping.

              • I didn't think it was bad. Bunch of entitled children on here don't know what field testing means, but that's a different story. Don't think I'd want this as a mode all the time, but once a month I can go for it.

                  Not a huge fan of the game mode, but this might be more map dependent. Wormhaven might be the worst map in trials for this capture point game mode. But I do enjoy the variety - and think they could be into something. I would hope they start making true flawless pool more rewarding too - ie every 3 wins in flawless pool nets you an adept re roll attempt.

                    • Wat too many players want to play trials so having literally an experiment for the whole weekend (especially when it’s poorly designed) is NOT what so many people expected… And I am 100% sure that data collected by Bungie will support it that it was a bad idea.

                    • They also don't roll out experimental stuff on the general public but test it with a subject group first clear out the issues. The concept is not to use the public as lab rats! Did you miss that? Or getting your information from Wikipedia wasn't the best idea?

                          I know you think this is an intelligent post, but it's not. What Bungie chooses to call things matters not in the least. What matters is what they decide to tamper with and what the feedback is to that. Overwhelming feedback says people don't like it. I haven't tried it and honestly I don't care about Trials, but as an actual intelligent person who doesn't use arguments like "But it's called(fill in blank)!" I find these posts fake and cloyingly disgusting. I've been on these forums a long time and I've never seen any posts asking to change the mode itself. Loads of "better matchmaking " and "make Trials more rewarding " or "make Trials accessible to casuals". This is a clear case of Bungie throwing out the babe with the bathwater. The mode is simple elimination. That's perfectly acceptable as an endgame pvp mode. Control points are old. This game is overflowing with control points. Iron Banner is ALWAYS control now. The last thing this game needs is more Control in any form. Yet you White Knighters for Bungie constantly try to moderate feedback with your posts that don't actually give feedback. Getting butthurt for Bungie helps nothing.

                              • All other labs were optional, trials labs are forced if you want to do trials this week. Very few people would've cared if it was optional.

                                • I'm fine with labs being a thing. It's great that they are trying to explore multiple options to get to a formula for Trials that works for the greatest number of players. As someone with a background in science, I have a great appreciation for the scientific method. However, part of the scientific process would include the gathering of results. Those results will include standard metrics (such as those discussed in the most recent TWAB), but the results of the experiment also include player feedback. In the case of the latter, the response from players is resoundingly negative. I will say that most of the feedback is fairly useless. Merely saying something sucks or calling it trash isn't very useful, as it fails to explain the shortcomings. Explaining why it is bad is useful feedback (i..e., constructive criticism). One such reason is that the experience of a solo player is much worse in an objective-based mode. I played solo Sunday night, and saw a higher percentage of 3-stacks than last week, and the results were almost all blowout losses.
