Bungie has stated on so many occasions DO NOT use the postmaster for storage or you risk losing items when will you people learn. This is unavoidable if you just used an app like Dim or Ishtar where you can drag items from your postmaster to your character and then dismantle them. Bungie will not replace these items. Bungie Policy Simply use Dim or Ishtar and keep an eye on your postmaster if it is getting full just drag it into your loadout and dismantle them. Very simple.

Very simple.
I'll second a vote for DIM but there's no need to drag and drop - if you type "is:blue" in the search bar and then select "Store on {whichever character}" DIM will move all of your blues to that character in one go. After that, deleting all your blues is easy street.

I do use little light, and also DIM. I'm mainly commenting about the fact we are only ALLOWED 10 spaces for storage for 3 characters. Should Blue be prioritized over Exotics? Unfortunately your point is that it has been said over and over when will people learn and bungie will not replenish whats lost... My rant is simply why is this still a thing? Why are we only allowed to have 10 spots in our inventory with 3 playable characters. Also, do you know why people have shards and prisms in their postmaster? It's because we're only allowed 10 in our inventory so the game puts them in there there. So... Ifyou have none in your inventory and they drop where do they go? Not the postmaster they go into your inventory.. Simply put... It is broken.

  •
ALLOWED 10 spaces for storage for 3 characters.
Each character has 10 spaces of the postmaster they do not share. But back to my first comment, it is NOT for storage.

  • Right, clearly you're confused. Simply put I didn't put my shards in my postmaster. The game did because you can only hold 10 in inventory with a 3 character spread so 3 per character? The only reason I lost shards was because I haven't used them because you never stop getting loot in this looter shooter gameatter fact it never stops dropping loot.... so you know what.... Its BROKEN and you must have never experienced it or stacked materials to understand. And honestly I'd rather not converse further with anyone who thinks only 10 alloted spaces ia enough. You can hold thousands of planetary materials, legendare shards, cores, matterweaves, rainmakers etc but only 10 spots for acendant shards lol AND YOU DEFEND THIS? 😆 Its B-R-O-K-E-N.

You cannot hold 10 shards per character in your inventory. It’s 10. Period. You can hold 10 per character in the postmaster, but that’s risky since it’s a first in first out setup. I, to this day, have not lost a single shard in my postmaster. Manage your stuff better. The postmaster has 21 spaces per character, as can be seen when it says your postmaster is full in DIM it shows 21/21. The limit on shards in the inventory is to slow down people like me. I have 10 in my inventory, 30 in my postmaster, and 30 in exotics masterworked just for shard storage. The limit is fine, because to break that limit you have to risk losing them in the postmaster or spend 3 shards to masterwork an exotic to get 1 back in addition to the vault space being occupied. 10 shards is master working 2 full legendary sets of armor. After that, you should have to go back into the playlist. Double nightfall rewards week significantly reduces the amount of time you have to run them, especially when you run GMs. It’s your fault you lost the shards. Manage your inventory better because it isn’t going to change.

  • Also after doing some research.... I've found that DIM has a "farm mode make space" obviously the developers at DIM have taken this broken system into consideration. Unfortunately I just found out about it. For anyone else who was "liable" for loosing materials as the people have suggested above. Here's something I've found that will most definitely not let that happen again. Destiny Item Manager "Farming mode helps avoid overflowing the postmaster by watching for new items and moving them to the vault if you're running out of space to pick them up. It will keep one slot of each type open so that you have space to pick up engrams or rewards. To start farming, click the character tile you want to farm for, and choose "Farming Mode" from the menu. To stop, click the big "Stop" button." I would imagine with a feature like this someone realized the flawed and broken system and implemented a way around it and fomo or fear of loose materials would be a better statement. I'm thankful that the developers at dim made this a feature because well obviously the first in last out postmaster concept is severely broken and DIM has a feature to avoid the broken system. I'm not sure how accurate it is but moving forward I most definitely will be trying it out. And for anyone else who thinks the alloted space of 10 acendant shards innyour inventory is enough space no need for commentating the same thing over and over. Its broken. But thankfully I found that option on DIM and most definitely will be trying it out.

Its a broken system. Why can we hold 1000s of legendary shards? 1000s of cores, gun Smith mats i could continue on and one. but only 10 Shards. Do you know what happens when you get to 999 cores? It STARTS ANOTHER STACK IN INVENTORY And yes maybe go back and reread. So 10 spots 3 characters your basically allowed 3 SHARDS per Character with this broken system. The fact that some of you defend this system but see nothing qronge being flooded with other materials kinda nuts me out. Im not saying give us unlimited space for thoose materials but definitely increase it to say a minimum for 30. 10 PER CHARACTER. Want to know why they won't do that? Because it means you have to spend more time on the game once situations like this happen grinding more and more. But seriously it weird some of you defened this broken system then point at .e about not managing my inventory. I was flooded with blues. This isn't the first time its not my mistake. I'll say it again loud and clear. It's BROKEN simply put it needs work.

I was under the impression that the postmaster had 20 slots...? EDIT: If you're referring to a single item's maximum cap like "can only hold x of this material"...then yes that is absolutely stupid. Whatever the case, if you don't have the inventory space for the shards/whatever that get sent to you automatically, make room. In regards to engrams/weapons/armor: Blues after a certain point should auto dismantle like greens did at the end of D1's life. Do not expect the postmaster to hold everything, you got 20 slots. Mind your weapons and armor inventory. I personally try to keep at bare minimum 3 empty slots per item so in between missions I dismantle whatever I don't want and vault anything I might want to keep or check later. Never had a problem with the postmaster this way.
