Just match up the elo of the bottom 10% of players, and new players together. Once they reach out of the "recruit" skill bracket, put them out in the wild. This way they a way to improve skill. While also not being stomped by average players when just starting crucible.
And no, matching the top 10% only against the top 10% isn't a good idea, as loading times and connections errors have proved to be already too long resulting in error code mongoose. There's not enough players at all in the top 10% compared to the bottom 10%.
And contrary to popular belief, your chances of running into the top 1% are extremely slim, let alone people in the top 10% skill bracket lol; so the people complaining about constant losses, you aren't going against streamers and 1%ers, your most likely going against the average player base, this gives you the best time to improve your skills lol
And the people complaining about CBMM in Iron banner, its always been the same complaints every season, examples of these complaints are issues matching up with constant 6 stacks, mercies, loss after losses, and unbroken players, and now flawless players.
This means that Bungie changing IB from SBMM to CBMM hasn't really changed the issues people are still going though since shadowkeep, so maybe the focus should be focused on stacking and solo queue ideas.
Edit** looks like yesterday was the most popular iron banner day in d2 history with a whopping 948k players! Gotta love CBMM!

1 ReplyI personally don't see the big deal, even as a filthy casual that only plays the Crucible for my pinnacles and perhaps other quest rewards or exotics, I still have managed to reset Valor with ease already this season. CBMM, SBMM, I still get wrecked sometimes, and sometimes I do the wrecking. I simply go into it knowing I am not, and will never be a PvP "Chad", and that I will be killed by better players. And sometimes, I will manage to take them out too. I do feel like the argument is used more for an excuse for not improving one's game play and tactics.

4 RepliesWhats Elo? CBMM sucks on console, not sure what its like on PC.

23 RepliesLol.. You post a link of a post which is just a person's opinion. He is using DTR as his tracking which tracks gambit, trials, crucible all together. Don't worry I'll be here everyday correcting people like you who have no clue. Watch in a month when the numbers are the lowest they have been in six months which was 375k.

People are using VPNs so now I get to play foreigners that lag worse than sbmm.

1 ReplyAl i know is i'm loving not seeing so many Jedi's teleporting around the place the connections have improved massively for me.
-
2 RepliesI saw no change whatsoever in skill with cbmm, been playing here since 2 years and with the change, this iron banner was exactly the same, the only problem for me in all pvp gamemodes is hackers, so i prefer cbmm for faster loading into matches and less lag.

Numbers are down based on tracker. The season started with a million + and both activity types are around 900,000. It’s too early to make any conclusions, but the population was higher last season.

6 RepliesIn my Opinion we should Boycott all 6v6 playlist including Iron banner. If you want your pinnacle play elimination or comp they are SBMM. If enough of us quit playing, Bungie will take notice, and maybe make a change. What we need is a choice of either SBMM or CBMM. If you want SBMM back boycott crucible. Tell your friends to spead the word.

Or find a common ground

1 ReplyPro-SBMM: "The game is dying with CBMM". Pro-CBMM: "Daily crucible population numbers show otherwise" Pro-SBMM: "No, those numbers are fake" Pro-CBMM: "Where's your source?" Pro-SBMM: "I don't have one, but I know those numbers are fake". It's hard taking dishonest people seriously lol.

3 Repliesplacing players based on skill over connection is the better way things should be. in fact, you stated that in your opening sentence : "Just match up the elo of the bottom 10% of players, and new players together." ... thats skill based, not connection. if the top 10% of players shouldnt face the other top 10%, then who should they face ? how are you going to get better if you dont face competitors of the same caliber ?? players at the bottom 10% wont get better facing the top 10%, theyll get rolled andthen quit to something else. thus reducing the overall PVP population. i get that the top 10% has a hard time finding good connections and whatever else they whine about ... just like billionaires always complain that they run out of places to spend all their money, or that they are running out of luxurious 5star restaurants to eat at ... there are some things one must deal with being at the top.

1 ReplyDon't agree with this and I'm not seeing your argument for CBMM. Since the changes I still see plenty of laggy players in every match, sometimes its really bad (no its not my connection as its just one or two players teleporting around not all of them). I don't mind running into top players, its how you pick up tips and improve, but I'm now finishing matches top 3 with average 3.0kd and...its boring. Mercies are now 75% of the time. This isn't good PVP and it's not good for the overall game. The only people that can say this is good is people that just want want to steam-roll or content creators making montages. Why can't there be a good balance of both SBMM and CBMM. If your answer is low population then that's a whole other problem to fix that starts with things like cheaters, better Trials matchmaking, stack v solo. But please don't try to blame it on either SBMM or CBMM. I really don't understand who anyone who takes gaming even slightly seriously can say that SBMM should be absent from PVP modes. When SBMM was active the OVERALL games were much better, after plying 4-5 matches I would have got my engrams and enjoyed the session, now its just silly. Also why are you assuming the high player count is purely down to CBMM, have you spoken to them all and they've told you that?
