  • No, this game doesn’t “really suck”. It’s fundamentals are excellent, and my guess is most here on this forum will agree with that. I’ve been on the record and still am re: believing Bungie is a fine company also, they’re doing the best they can, with what they have right now. It’s just my belief their focus should be different, I’m fully aware they don’t have to appease me in my hopes. They have metrics (aka internal analytics) I’m unaware of that guides them, sometimes I think they focus TOO much on those metrics, lol. But, they’ve always been metrics forward, I just wish they wouldn’t be so metrics defined. That being said, I am looking forward to the fall dlc, and may very well buy it. It depends on what we hear from Bungie over the next two months or so re: what Bungie is doing to replace those “retired” pieces of gear? And that recently released list did not help, lol, in any way wrt new and exciting gear. What perks are being introduced or changed so that there is an encouragement for each of us to use something different? Buffs and different perks should exist also, and not just a token “here’s your +1 damage for this weapon). How are we going to be more “powerful” when they are removing our powerful gear bc: “Guardians are TOO powerful” comments from them? And I’m not believing the “you’ll be stronger bc we’re making you weaker, enabling us to make you stronger again” comments from them. But no: I do NOT believe Bungie is a bad company. Very simply, I just disagree on a few points, it happens to be they are large future/vision related points. & I do NOT believe this game sucks. I enjoy the fundamentals of this game a ton. And as long as the lights are on up in Bellevue, I’ll play this game, maybe less often than more, but I’ll still play. It may be very, very old content bc I choose not to buy anything new, but I’ll still be playing. Why? bc it’s that good of a game. Heck, I may just delete my vault, delete my characters, delete my inventory, create three new characters and pull from collections (fixed roll gear) and exotics and replay the entire campaigns. Who knows. I don’t “need” anything new from them to continue enjoying the game.

Don't you recall bungie throttling xp, lying about it until streamers exposed? Then they stopped it but then raised the bar and lied about that too? They are a very bad company. They implemented gambling concepts into game that kids play. They are scum.

  • Oof, yep. I do remember that. I followed that thread very closely on a /r. I watched it get moderator deleted repeatedly until it was picked up on another /r, then it was shadow-banned. Took several weeks for that spreadsheet, a lot of very good work was in that piece, to see the light of day. Bad time for Bungie, very, very, very bad. As far as “gambling” in a kids game. It’s better now, than previous. I wasn’t a fan of purchasable bright engrams for the very reason you speak of. Direct purchases are much better, imho, but they have drawbacks also. Bottom line, I can’t/won’t dispute your argument, nor will I not be empathetic to anybody who feels the way you do. I completely understand why you feel that way. And you’re justified. I’ll even go one step more: “the greatest predictor of future behavior is past behavior”. That being said, it’s just not in my personality to hold grudges. It doesn’t mean I can’t cast side-eye at an organization I’m at odds with. And wonder if I’m alone in my beliefs or if my arguments are without merit. Good post my friend.

  • Well said. I dont hold grudges either just my hard earned money. I also judge a person or company by their actions not their words. Destiny 1 was damn near a perfect game despite it's noted flaws. It was and still is fun to play. Bungie knows better, has done better and can do better still. They just prefer not to. That's the problem.

  • You know, there’s a lot of similarities we share. I was, still am a D1 homer. I made two posts the entire three years of D1, both were help for glitched exotic quests. D2 drops, I make 200 in the first three days! lol Absolutely spot on wrt your money speaking. I don’t buy the seasons. And it’s entirely possible, maybe probable that I won’t purchase any more content from Bungie again. If I don’t, I’ll probably still return to the game every now and then, ignoring all new content, just like I do with the seasons, and get my Destiny fun in. We’ll see. Trust me, there aren’t many “me’s” out there who don’t buy the seasons. It doesn’t matter though, I don’t need anything more from Bungie, and my previous purchases will still allow me to play the game as I like/need.

I feel the same, I'm not purchasing anything else for d2 and will log in to help my clan or friends when I can. It's been a week since I did that and I feel like an alcoholic that realized orge juice actually tastes better without vodka in it. I just don't miss d2 and it pains me to boot it up even. This season has caused a loss of some 30 clan members as they have given up on d2 and bungie. No other game I've ever played does this much self inflicted damage on a regular basis. It's like watching firemen trying to put out a fire with gasoline. Exciting to watch but sad too cause you can't save it.
