14 Replies<Oh... Oh have I got the -blam!-ing response for you. Behold, the last obsession, the Final Shape, the very thing that keeps me tithed to this game like a tapeworm is to its human host. BEFORE TIME BEGAN, THERE WAS (the cube) THE GARDEN Two Gods inhabited the Garden, one an abstract concept created through Light, and one of Dark. The being of Light, the Gardener, created life and the being of Dark, the Winnower, took what worked and destroyed what didn't. This was a game to them, to see which pattern won against all odds. This eventually bored the Gardener, as the same pattern won every time. She demanded variance, and so she asked the Winnower to add themselves into the game. The Winnower reluctantly agreed and both entered their game. The Winnower was the one who saw the universe as it was. She knew that life is a constant struggle to exist, and if you aren't strong enough, then you will be cast away through natural law. The Gardener's violation of the established rule vexed the Winnower, and they fought. They tore the Garden apart in their battle, and from that raw power came numerous universes, ours included. The final pattern escaped and became the Vex, but they aren't important to this at the moment. The Gardener spawned life, and the Winnower followed the Gardener in order to destroy her. Despite her preoccupation, the Winnower's influence spread through the galaxy, affecting life as far as Earth. Our evolution spawned from her actions. Because of the Winnower's understanding, persuasion, and sheer power, she gained followers. Most notably at this time, the Worms. At some point billions of years ago, before Earth was even formed, the Gardener actually managed to Uno Reverse the Winnower and trap her in the core of the gas giant Fundament with the Worms. The Worms reached out and brought in the Hive to help their escape, and as soon as the Worms breached the surface and the Hive murdered the Leviathan of Fundament, the Gardener/Traveler fled with the Winnower following. From then on the Worms and the Winnower/Darkness seem to separate. Auryx/Oryx killed Akka, allowing him to talk to the Deep directly and gain the power to Take, Xol moved with Nokris, and Ur followed Savathun. Eir and Yul's whereabouts are unknown, but they are most likely closer to the Hive than to the thing that isn't feeding them tribute. At some point between the near-isolation in Fundament's core and the first Collapse, the Darkness gained an army, an army I call the Pyramid Armada. This is, obviously, where the Pyramid Ships come into play. Their history is unknown, their actual link to the Darkness seems to be on the level of God to its Angels in Heaven however, and that alone is something to go on. They came here during the first Collapse and wiped the floor with the system, their defenses made them immune to everything, and their attacks leveled cities and annihilated colonies. Only the Traveler stopped the Armada, and their defeat drove them to outside of the Milky Way, where they schemed and watched our system from afar. They left one of their own in the depths of the Moon, the connection to the Black Garden. Still, the awakening of the Traveler roused the Pyramid Armada from their slumber, and now they're making a direct line to our system. A fleet of over a hundred ships, each one over twice the size of Ghaul's capital ship, The Immortal. They are led by the Mothership, a ship that, if the regular ones match up, is over 40 times the size of the smaller ships, and 2-4 times the size of the Traveler that rests above the Last City. The Pyramid Armada is the most trusted army of the Darkness, and they will not fail again. Guardians may be strong, but not a single enemy has looked at us in the eye and smiled so widely. Not a single enemy has looked at us, remembered their past defeats, and still looks as if we're nothing. To them, their only weakness is the Traveler, and if they've really spent all of this time planning, then she won't be a threat.>
