Crota did have a father - Oryx.
What about his mother?
We saw three statues before the fight with Oryx on a dreadnought - Crota, Oryx and the third, hive, person.
If it was She, then she should be angry two times (double rage - and her scream is 100 times louder than Omnigul's) for losing her son and husband.
I think hive have matriarchy - because of the birth/rebirth cult, worms and etc.
So she is a hive Queen, hive uterus (like queen bee).
Well and darkness is her smell (kidding).
And her ship is the size of the... 50 Oryx's dreadnoughts.
This basketball court on dreadnought - those walls remember young Crota playing with his first husk, and his mother laughing with him - "Come on son, you can do it... Throw. Here's your daddy coming, show him what you can do".
Now she's hungry for revenge!
"Au-ta-kashita" which means vendetta in hivelish.
Are you scared?

4 RepliesOryx, or Auryx, is Crota's mother. Auryx was Oryx's name before it became a male. So I guess you could call it asexual reproduction?
-
We have been through this so many times! Hive can create their offspring with space magic!
-
5 RepliesOryx was known as Auryx, when he was a she. It's also more than possible that the hive don't reproduce with male and female parts, they could reproduce asexually, or they could even artificially create a being though some form of alchemy. Although Eris does mention "love" as a concept the hive have, most of their logic seems to revolve around extreme sadism/masochism-like behaviors. At any rate, the thought of two hive "getting it on" is not something you should probably think too deeply about. Or try to Internet. Seriously. Rule 34 is the stuff of nightmares sometimes.

Edited by ImOnPlate2Guys: 1/21/2017 2:04:52 PMBooks of Sorrow my man. Crota was "created". Loved your explanation noneoftheless :-)

That's not how the Hive do it.
-
2 RepliesYou can't have Oryx he's already taken ;D
-
1 ReplyI'm Crota's dad. Oryx is also Crota's dad. Don't judge.
-
4 RepliesI screwed her

Naw. She isn't powerful. In the blighted coven mission, there is a wizard called "Matron of Oryx." I'm willing to bet that oryx took her after they had hive sex. In other words, she was a hive concubine until oryx dominated her. She was his servant. (Now she's dead)

There's a couple of hive wizards in a mission on earth where they are named "daughter of Oryx" "mother of brood".

2 RepliesAccording to the Books of Sorrow, Hive Mothers are not considered part of the family just because they bore the child of another Hive. In the Books it only states that Oryx found a Mother to birth his children and nothing more. In the Hive family tree, a single parent and their children count as the family (Oryx and his children, Savathûn and her children). Multiple males can mate with a Mother but the Mother will not count as part of the family even though she birthed the children, but if a Mother fertilizes herself (as I believe Savathûn did) then those children count as her family Take Omnigul for example, she is the Mother that Crota had all of his spawn with, but clearly no one sees that as important and the only reason she is even mentioned in game is because she commands Crota's armies and raises him from death There is the statue of Nokris at the entrance to Oryx's throne, but considering that Mothers don't bear any significance to the family it's unlikely that Nokris is Crota's mother. I believe it's more likely that Nokris is either Oryx's father (the Osmium King) or another relative (aside from one of his children since Oryx made a point of telling us about every single one of his children)

Instead of having Crota's "mom" which I doubt ever existed, because hive reproduce by means of magic, it would be more plausible that Oryx's sisters could come back and attempt to "avenge" Oryx's death and finish what he started.
-
The third statue is of another god, and Hive don't nee females to reproduce either.

Edited by TheMilkman: 1/20/2017 10:56:41 AMHive produce other hive through dead flesh and some metal. Those thrall could be your best buddies or that one guy you left dead at the beginning of the Crota raid by skipping lanterns... While this is how they make thrall, gods on the other hand....idk. Also seems they can give birth through the Wizards. Idk how that works maybe sexual intercourse. Eh you pick.

2 RepliesThats noctris

Also I think oryx still has another son Oryx definitely got a lot of kids? Or would hivelings be better terminology?
-
Oryx is both father and mother.
-
Crota's mom is dead. It's in the book of sorrow if i remember correctly.
-
1 ReplyCroata gave birth to himself form his own vagina.
-
Im his mother i -blam!-ed oryx
-
3 RepliesWhile she might seek us out, I don't think she'd be mad. According to the Hive faith, that which is unfit to live must die. Crota and Oryx were such unfit creatures. If anything, she'll hunt for us to prove that she is more fit to survive than us.
-
11 RepliesOryx was both
-
2 RepliesI always figured it would be Thyshik from the Blighted Coven mission since her title is Matron of Oryx.
-
1 ReplyI don't think Crota's Mom is specified.
