Dear Bungie,
"Skill Based Matchmaking is shit"- Everyone.
Im sorry, but its true. I get it. You want a level playing field, but what you gave us was a very shitty experience.
Allow me to elaborate! Okay, lets say for example you had a friend who was average at best and you're above average. When he plays by himself he swears he pulls 20+ kills, but when he plays with you he goes 9-16. What's your answer to this? Get better friends? No.. I would like to be able to get home from work and play some FUN games in Crucible with some friends. Notice how I put extra emphasis on the word "fun"? Yeah...its not fun losing.
Lets talk more about FUN! With SBMM, I have found it to be more frustrating than fun. I would LIKE to go into a game using weapons that AREN'T part of the meta, but no. Every game is a sweat fest!
One more thing. The connections in SBMM are TERRIBLE! Its like you dont even care. Yes, my ISP sucks. Yea, its the best available, BUT when you were going with Connection based Matchmaking I was put into much smoother matches and I was able to play casual crucible matches with my friends and actually enjoy it!
In summary, get rid of SBMM. Its no fun having to try your ass off just to get a win and id like to play with my friends again without having to carry them just to lose. Bring back CBMM. Its not only your best move you should make, its the ONLY move you NEED to make.

I love how people come in here and speak for "everyone". I agree that when I run with high level players I tend to get my ass handed to me versus running by myself and almost always going positive. There has to be some kind of balance in between that allows for casuals to compete. My only fear with ranked and unranked playlists is that people will find a way to abuse it by creating a separate account so they can stomp casuals or whatever. I guess that can be now too. There just has to be a way to let lower level players get in on the fun of PVP because like you said, it's no fun losing.

1 ReplyAs a community I have retracted from I believe you guys need to come together and fight for whats right as a whole. Obviously you all love this game dearly and care since you are here posting to one another. What frustrates me is you guys make comments that are negative to one another when the creators and developer of this game they call a "game" needs the personal attacks not one another. They lack dedicated servers no matter skill based or connection base your biggest threat is ultimately lag. Direct your anger to the real problem not one another. You guys want change then come together and demand it.

I found t-bagging to calm me down after I kill a laggy fool

Yea but no one likes sbmm, we just wanna have fun and not sweat

I do not mind the concept of getting paired with ppl at my skill level. That is something I can tolerate. Is every game going to be "sweaty"? Maybe, but you win some, you lose some. It is a game, after all. HOWEVER, what is intolerable is the amount of redbars I get now, both on my team and on the opposition. I am in the green, and I have a teammate straight redbarring, so anytime I get near him the Destiny world gets screwy fast. Prior to the December switch (i.e. "Year 1") I could probably count the instances I had laggy opponents on my hands. Now, it seems like every other match I get redbar players running blinking invis titans with shotguns who somehow manage to stay off radar while sprinting. I don't mind getting outplayed. If you are better than me, then you earned that victory. But if your connection is shit and you are bragging about how no one could touch you (because literally no bullet would connect or do damage) then congratulations: you are horrible. And I have yet to see how the new banhammer for crap connections has made it any better. Seriously, had a hell of a time during IB last week.

10 RepliesI really like the matchmaking system. I am a solo player for the most part and find my games to be very competitive and fun with the current system. The lag is annoying, but I'll happily take that in trade to all-star dickheads bagging everyone to feed their superiority complex. I guess I just hated crucible so much Y1 for that reason that I don't want it to make a return to Y2.

It's becoming more and more clear that Destiny is becoming a PvP focus game, which doesn't work one bit with the type of game it is! Imagine Borderlands with PvP, it would be exactly as broken as Destiny's PvP.

4 RepliesCan't really complain when all of the elitists wanted to play in a competitive playing field. Well there you have it and now you're complaining. All of the trials people were saying that trials is for the best of the best, but when they actually go up against people at their your own level they complain that they don't want to be put in every match that turns into a sweaty match every time. Looks like you guys just want easy wins that's what it looks like.

Yeah,man....i dont know but seems that Bungie has some kind of contract or personal issue in sbmm. A month ago Dereck Carroll stated in reddit that sbmm, i quote, "is the way to go"

15 RepliesEdited by El Jefe: 6/2/2016 2:12:09 AMBlah blah blah, I have a good KD. blah blah blah, my friends suck, thus it's not fun playing with them. Blah blah blah, o think SBMM causes more lag (even though it's been there since day one). In summary blah blah blah, I'm good at PVP, so only my opinion matters and you should only do what I want bungie. Summed up and fixed your complaint. You're welcome.
I'm with you on the weapons bit though.

Go ahead talk shit about my KD. Fucks I could give= 0.
2 RepliesSBMM is fine with good connections. The problem is the current engine is SBMM players across the world leading to poor connections and high latency. SBMM will only work with regional MM. Until then you need to revert back to CBMM and stop driving players away.
-
2 RepliesThere should be a choice between ranked and unranked. That's what everyone wants.
-
This is so true, I don't touch pvp anymore thanks to SBMM. And if the next dlc includes compulsory pvp aspects then goodbye destiny.

1 ReplyI would like to see two tiered matchmaking. The first algorithm would sort players by connection so that the best match of connections create the 12 person player base for a 6v6 match. The second algorithm would create the teams based on skill so that each game was competitive. This would provide good connection/skill matching rather than the current system. Additionally if 12 people are in a lobby playing multiple games and at any point one team has 2 wins in a row perhaps a third algorithm could kick in that would randomly reassign the four lowest scoring players on each team to keep things fresh.

There nothing wrong with SBMM, problem seem you don't like to lose or see your Kd to suffer so is this a personal problem or bungie. The real problem is lag which will continue to happen as long we have p2p connection. Destiny was never meant to be competitive but unfortunately we the community made it so and forced bungie hand, there a reason why there no private or custom matches

9 RepliesI haven't experienced SBMM as I quit before HoW came out, but I'm still in the top 5% of players. How? I have no idea. Anyway, if I jump on right now, I'm sure I would do fine. I see no problem with SBMM, it will make your friend get better by playing better people. You don't get better by simply owning people that can't play the game. He will gain more experience and learn to be a better player by playing better players. Pretty simple. So instead of asking them to remove it, keep playing with your friend and he will get better.

2 RepliesHalo 3 had ranked and social playlists so why cant destiny?!?!?!!? SBMM SUCKS!!!
-
3 RepliesIf all you're hitting is meta weapons them it says something about your skill level. This game has needed sbmm from the start because the playing field was grossly all over. You could get a team of wipes and go against a team of mlg people REPEATEDLY. Now I find matches much more even skill wise.

I keep telling people this. I don't mind getting stomped every now and then by a team that's better than mine as long as I can do the same. As an above average player I should be able to use fun load outs and not have to play my heart out every game to get a win. Crucible used to be fun because you could carry your team to victory if you were skilled enough. Now it's quite the opposite. If you have one bad player on your team then you lose. Plus everyone is using the same 6 damn guns because they want to win while I'm over here just screwing around and then I'm forced to pull out the good fund to avoid getting dicked on. It's stupid how no one can go into crucible to have fun anymore. If they had any brains at all they would just make SBM a selectable option. Problem would be solved. The sweats could play ranked (and brag about their huge PvPenis)and the casuals could have fun.
