Pulse Rifle Meta was the best Meta
This was the height of the destiny crucible to me personably. You had bad juju, red death, hopscotch pilgrim (the best of them all with the right roll and the most rare), spare change, and a few I may be leaving out. Mida multitool still recked and it was OK to use something else than a sniper rifle as a secondary. Some may hate but I personably loved this meta and some may agree, I just hat how I haven't played in 3 months and all I see in iron banner is Mida, Mida, TLW, Mida, Mida, 1000ys, Mida, TLW. We all want a meta that has more than two or three guns running the show
Edit 1: I'm seeing some love for this and yes I can't believe I left out the messenger, that was a MONSTER! #BuffPulseRifles
Edit 2: We're trending! Please destiny bring balance back to crucible! Buff auto rifles and pulse rifles just enough to add verity.
Edit 3: Seems the common thought is that HoW meta was the best (I agree 100%), yet knowing Bungie by now they'll screw it up again lol
Edit 4: Well with news of the new update, as a preview, I think it'll be Suros Regime and Fusions which I'll f**k with cuz that was the first couple months of vanilla destiny. Wish they would bring back the Hopscotch Pilgrim but I'll take Spare Change if I didn't delete the yr 2 versions I got...FML

8 Repliesdid you play this last IB? If not, a ton of people were using pulse rifles and shotguns. I was getting wrecked quickly by them. It was actually pissing me off cause I would spawn and get killed instantly. I think bungie sneaked in an update on pulse rifles and only a couple hundred might know about it. All I kept seeing was pdx-45, hawksaw, grasp of malok. Then it was party crasher, party crasher, party crasher. It was good to see, cause I love pulse rifles as much as anyone. They were my go to. But they wreck just as good as ever. Sucks too cause I deleted all my good pulse rifles cause how bad they went with the update. But that is changed, so it seems.

2 RepliesWell that meta was good.... but handcannons were terrible.... MIDA could not challenge a decent pulse (no way)... 90% of people were using pulse rifles. Messenger and hopscotch were king. It was still a lopsided meta

Was it better, though? I never used pulses, even during that meta. I'd say 60% of my deaths were to Nirwen's Mercy in the last half of that Meta run. One gun always rises to the top in EVERY meta. Its just that this current meta has lasted longer than the other ones. It tastes worse now because we've been sucking on it for so long. Thoughts?

I think that the meta we have know is fine. I can do good ( or equally bad) whit all type of weapons.

2 RepliesI'm liking this one (minus the snipers). Primaries have a pretty good variety now (could be better). Secondaries need more variety though. 1k and conspiracy. That's it.

For me the best meta was the one from September till December. Pulse rifles were good. Mida was good. High rof auto rifle were beast in close range(the 0.04% nerf is useless). Tlw was very good at close range(always lose with bad juju). Sniper were already the only choice but you can saw some shotguns. Now obviously only snipers. And no fudging thorns.

The meta SHOULDN'T be balanced. There should be guns that are op, but are super hard to get - like Thorn was. Prove your dedication to the game and you get a slightly OP weapon. None of this "farm Crota Hard Mode 10 times for this piece of crap"

HoW meta was garbage and all the people stroking their Thorns can go gag on them if they love it so much. Pulse rifle meta was better for sure but I feel like it slowed everything down a little compared to now because it was too hard to get into close range. If the tradeoff was less sniping it would have been worth it but there was plenty of sniping then too. Current meta (for primaries) is actually really quite good if you look at it objectively without rose-colored glasses or a hardon for Thorn. No one weapon type really dominates. If they can buff the mid-lower RoF archetypes across the board (save scouts maybe, they seem OK) it would be close to perfect.

6 RepliesNah. The beggining of Destiny, when there was no meta and everything balanced out, was the best meta. The only two weapons that were truly OP were the Vex Mythoclast(RIP) and the SUROS Regime. Everything else was perfectly fine.

The best meta IMO was early days before everyone had the Vex or Suros Regime. That very first Iron Banner. comes to mind. Running around with Atheons Epilogue and a Void Fusion. Got the Thorn bounty done. Now there's a bit of diversity but definitely room for improvement. Both mid-impact Pulse rifles and medium ROF Auto Rifles should be buffed. For the Special weapons I would buff the living crap out of Fusions as it's been forever since Fusion rifles were worthwhile to use. I'd alter the aim assist on snipers to make sniping more of a skill for those who like using them. Leave shotguns alone. They aren't as good as they used to be but are still usable. No changes required for Heavy Weapons. I hope Bungie fix the inconsistent player connections, players not taking damage, & broken damage referee issues while they're at it.

What was wrong with vanilla meta. While there was a lot of broken things, it was also a hell of a lot more fun than most of the metas.

Now if you approach more than one player the game feels more like cod - you dont stand a chance. It was the last time I truly enjoyed Destiny. The weapon patch after that I can't adapt to. One too many for this guardian...

I ran Treads Upon Stars, Invective, and the Raid MG. I think in at least 50% of the games I came in first overall and the rest I was in 2nd or 3rd. The only times I legit got beat in a gun fight was due to Mida or a sniper (I was able to challenge snipers more easily than Mida). Mida doesn't need any rebalancing. It works extremely well because it's a great all around gun with some nice perks. The biggest problem is the lack of other solid guns to use. Most guns are subpar (((or only good with the right rolls((which take forever to get(bring back Reforging in some capacity please god))) Hopefully they'll give us some good news today on the stream and a fusion rifle nerf.
