6 RepliesEdited by weirdboy99: 11/18/2015 7:29:59 AMYou know your son the best, you should make that decision as a parent. Honestly though why would you even ask such a question on a board like this, most here are not even mature themself both physical or mental.

I started playing those kinds of games at 12 so go ahead if it doesn't affect his grades and behavior its fine.
-
It has some serious gore in it. Even fallout 3 could be hard to swallow. I would suggest waiting but that doesn't mean he can't play it in the future.

Edited by InsectShelf3: 11/17/2015 9:19:34 PMLooks like you don't want a teenagers input, but trust me, fallout 4 has a considerable amount of gore. You have an ability where you can slow down time and shoot specific parts of an enemy targets body, and often times you can shoot the targeted area clean off. Leading to decapitations and dismembering limbs in slow motion. This can't be disabled either.

It is an extremely long game (which means it can be hard for kids to get into), there is a lot of blood and guts and gore in general (people exploding into pieces, heads flying off, that kind of thing, similar to gears of war, but with no option for turning it off). The language isnt terrible, but sometimes foul language is used (but i have found it to be kind of rare). There is some almost nudity (women can be stripped down to their underwear, you could also have a female companion travel with you in their underwear. There is talk about sex and drugs, you can sleep with romantic male and female companions (though it doesnt show anything, not even a fade out cutscene thing). Drugs are optional, you can sometimes convince characters to stop taking drugs and there are some consequences for using them (there are chances of addition which can hurt you, but they are kind of minor). There is some generally disturbing things in the game at times (ex: heads on spikes, bodies hung from meat hooks, hanging corpses in positions that obviously look like they were being tortured, going into a psychotic killers house, etc). If you as a parent are ok with all of this then that is your call.

There are occasional F bombs dropped in the game. However at 12 years old I think it'll be difficult for him to really enjoy the game unless you allow him to spend hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing it. You really can't get a good Fallout experience if you play for an hour here and there.

Let him play but turn the volume down
-
Let him play. When you see him duct taping teddy bears and kitchen knives to water guns it might be time to take it away.

1 ReplyIf he was 14 I would say yes, he would be smart enough to play a game like this and understand the dystopia, it's pretty cool. 12 seens too young imo.
-
Depends on the maturity of your kid. Fallout is about as M as a game can be barring nudity, but I will say this one is a little tamer than 3.
-
I play god of war when I was 6! Your kid should be fine.

2 RepliesI've played around 40 hours and there's nothing really that bad in it. Allow me to break it down so you can make an informed decision yourself. Gore - yes, limbs getting blown off and heads shattering to pieces with eyeballs flying. It's more "woah, cool!" then sickening horror. Horror - yes, zombie archetypes are throughout the wasteland that run at your character and a few jump scares. Horrible giant insects and 2 headed beasts are roaming around. I doubt they would pose much of a threat to an adolescent boy however Language - hardly any, the occasional "f yeah!" can be heard from your character when taking drugs* and the odd "shit" is said, but nothing too distasteful, nothing like GTA games *Drug use - made up prescription drugs and achohol use are used throughout the game, giving your character stats and effects Violence - yes, both shooting guns and hitting with melee weapons, shown frequently in slow motion and great detail, again, nothing over the top like torture Sex - I have not encountered any sex as yet, but I have not completed the game. To summarise, if you're quite liberal with language and your kid understands the dangers in drug and alcohol use and you both don't mind a bit of animated gore and violence than by all means consider getting him the game

Just get him the game, and take it away if there's a difference in his behavior.
-
Rather have a child play a video game that's violent than watch a violent TV show. Atleast in video games, you can let your mind flow with the possibilitys that's given to you.
-
That's a tough one. My 6 y/o begs me to play gears of war, but I feel like she's still to young for games like that. (Fallout included). Even at 12, children are very impressionable, though some do know the difference between video games and reality. If he already plays games with guns and violence, then maybe it's not so bad. But there is some foul language in it, and also I believe there's some sexual content. All in all, it's how you feel about your child playing these type of games
-
You have a child but can't even use proper grammar. Playing M-rated games is the least of that child's worries I assure you.
-
2 RepliesTbh he's gonna play stuff like that anyways, and see and here things much worse. The best you can to is be their to guide him in such things, preventing him from experiencing such things is a losing battle in this day and age.
-
1 ReplyI think he would fine, besides its probably good training for the future ;)
-
It can be very bloody at times and terrifying but if he plays games like this often it's not too bad
-
2 RepliesHell no. Fallout 4 can be downright terrifying at times. I'm 19 and I've had more than a few dreams of deathclaws or ghouls chasing me. He wants to shoot stuff I'd recommend the new call of duty or halo 5.
-
Edited by Mix It Up MK: 11/17/2015 5:53:40 AMIf he can handle it, yes. There is a wide variety of maturity in 12 year olds. I bet he will be incredibly disappointed if you say no, this is probably one of the best games of 2015
-
I'm 20, and I do not have a mid. But I would recommend telling him "No" just on the stand point of the gore and language. And do to the fact there is no filter for it. If there was a filter, I would say yes.

Is say maybe wait. My opinion I feel they made this way more gory then Fallout 3. But you're the parent.
