The last straw.
I have been playing and enjoying bungie games ever since the first halo. I've never posted here before as I've never really felt the need until now. Up until now I've been a big fan of destiny and an avid defender of the game whenever anyone has said anything negative about the game to me. Now I feel like I have been betrayed for that loyalty. What bungie has done with the taken king update is inexcusable. With this update you have taken every bit of progress people have made and the countless hours it took them to get there and thrown it all away. After the release of house of wolves like many people I was thrilled to be able to ascend all my old armor and guns making them relevant again. I like many other spent countless hours playing prison of elders and iron banner to achieve that goal. Now bungie releases a new DLC that not only erases all of that progress, but they have erased nearly all year one progress by making all of our favorite guns and armor obsolete. The blatant disregard bungie has shown their fan base with this action is inexcusable, and for me it's the absolute last straw. I don't want my money back. I don't even want my guns and armor back. I want the time I waisted as a loyal bungie fan returned to me. Until this gets fixed I'm done with destiny and any future games bungie may make. For those of you who feel the same I invite you to come play Ark Survival Evolved, and experience what it's like to play a game made by designers who listen to and respect their fan base rather than defecate on them.

1 ReplyDidn't even read, wanna know why? Every one of these long stories explaining why "Bungie doesn't care" or "Bungie is ripping us off" is the exact same. Oh but why would they lock us out of these activities or not let us reach the level cap? My example is that you go and buy a burger, you get it and complain that it doesn't have what you thought it would, so you take it to the counter and they give you the same burger, but with an extra party and some condiments, but you say you don't like the taste, so they take it back again, keep in mind they are very patient with you, and they give you this brand new home made fresh burger but you still won't accept the burger, the employees are stumped at what to do, so they offer you some fries and a soda for a little extra, and nope, you won't take it, it doesn't look good, so you just sit there, with your burger you don't want, too cheap to pay for those fries and soda, but you still sit there and rage and complain

It's understandable how you feel. If you haven't played an MMO before, this is definition new territory for you. This practice is pretty standard for MMO's. They are making old stuff irrelevant because they want you to have newer, more powerful gear. If you give it a chance you won't be let down.

Okay, my child, listen here. You are saying you wanted to use the same boring -blam!-ing armor and weapons fot 10 Years? I'm a day one player whom loved using fatebringer and Gjallarhorn but you don't see me wanting to use them all the time You should try CoD out since that's been the same thing for 10 years

This game is comparable to an mmo. Mmos get expansions, and with expansions you get new gear which in turn makes your old gear obsolete. Its the same with COD. You work hard to unlock new guns only to find out you have to do it again when the next COD comes out.

That's because bungie failed at designing a truly progressive mmo and their sad attempt to try to please everyone rather then stick to their principle design

1 ReplyDo you play for gear or content? If anything, Prison of Elders proved the folly of on-demand ascension and easily attainable gear. Players burned out from PoE quicker than any other activity and a lot of that can be attributed to how common Etheric Light ended up being for players active in endgame content. Viewing the forums before and after the release of TTK is night and day. While your complaint was common before, now it's rare. Players are working on playing new content for new rewards and so busy with that new content that Fatebringer is being left forgotten for most of them. It may hurt to have Y1 favorites surpassed, but ultimately it's healthier for the game because it keeps players engaged in new content. If you play for gear and gear only, then it's probably not the right game for you.

2 RepliesI see your point and understand your frustration, but if you really look at it, your old gear will get you through far enough to earn the new stuff to drop for you. All your exotics will upgrade cheaply and easily. You won't run out of things to keep you entertained and amused for months. I was frustrated at first but then I began to realize what the Bunj had really done here. Year one was the ultimate Beta. Now we've got the real deal masterpiece and we are it's top level players. Cup half full my friend.

I must be the only one that likes it. I feel like it is a brand new game like I sat down to play a year ago. I love running after green orbs again knowing it may be better than my Gally lol. I don't mind one bit. I definitely get your point, but I'm having fun like I did last year!
