Please, Bungie, stop patching during the day. When you're patching the game in the morning, the whole Europe cannot play the game in the afternoon.
Why don't you just patch the game overnight? I hope it's not because people don't want to work at night :)
It would make a lot of your community members happier.
Edit: It seems like majority of you don't understand it. What I meant is patch during night time US time, not EU time. Then the game would be patched at night for US players and in the morning for EU players. I know there would always be someone who wouldn't be able to play in the afternoon. I'm not stupid. But majority of players wouldn't be affected, only a minority.
Nice to see so much hate and name calling. But I don't mind, feel free to boost your ego if you have the need.
Edit2: Some of you still don't understand. I know what time zones are. By patching at night (US time), only a minority of players would be disadvantaged. Majority (US/EU) would still be able to play in the afternoon.
I am not complaining, I am not crying, I am not moaning, I am suggesting. I don't want what's best for me. I want what's best for majority of players. I can live one day without Destiny and do other things. This topic isn't about that.

15 RepliesEdited by HectX: 9/9/2015 12:31:08 AMAnyone who works standard hours or goes to school in the U.S. is in the same boat as anyone in Europe, if anything living in Europe is actually an advantage. For those who can't figure this out let me explain. Patch went live 10 am PST, 1 pm EST, and 6pm BST. If you live anywhere in the U.S. and work or go to school you can't start the downloaded until you get home approximately 6pm for your relative locations. 6pm PST = 2am BST that means ALL of Europe had at least 8 hours of download time before anyone on the west that works or goes to school. 6pm EST = 11pm BST that means ALL of Europe had at least 5 hours of download time before anyone on the east that works or goes to school. TL:DR - European workers/students get home right around when the patch comes out so they are home and ready to start the downloaded, Americans are still at work for many more hours, so Europeans workers/student will start the downloaded before American workers/students. Only Americans that benefit are the unemployed or people who work odd shifts... Or if you setup auto downloading...

1 ReplyIn saying "only a minority of players would be disadvantaged", you clearly presume that the US market is the largest. I have some news for you. Asia/Pacific is 50% bigger than the US market in video games. Granted, that may not hold true for this particular game, but your self centred arrogance is showing in your comments.

I agree. Not everyone has high speed internet. It would be way more convenient to release an update at night so it installs overnight and doesn't intrude in play time.
-
It is overnight for some people dumbass
-
It's always daytime somewhere!
-
-blam!- that I play at night.

Night for you is afternoon for us. This is an American game company so they go by USA time

This kid is a per idiot.

92 RepliesEdited by Charlemagne: 9/8/2015 5:04:00 PMReleasing such a major content patch at night proves quite risky. There would be no one at Bungie to make sure everything is going smoothy and that there are no issues (Edit: There would be one or two people, I know, but I don't think that would be enough to set up for everything). Without the live team and anyone else involved working on it during their work hours, you could actually end up waiting until just as long as it would finish this time around if not longer. Trust me, not a risk we should want Bungie to take.

Dude I live in the united States and guess what buddy...there are multiple time zones here...so no matter what they are pleasing the superior Country....come to America and get with it
-
It doesn't matter what time it goes live it will always be night somewhere, plus if there are issues you want somebody to be at work at Bungie to get started on fixing the issue.
-
Time zones. ..... moron
-
It doesn't matter when they put the patch live, some of us would still have to wait 10 hours to download it from PSN anyway.

12 RepliesI agree with your idea. It doesn't affect the American playtimes at all, and barely affects the European playtimes. Asia/Australia aren't so fortunate, but it's ALWAYS the Europeans who get boned. (Except TTK Release, we get that at 10AM GMT) But you're forever going to be slandered by the typical members of this forum who think their country is superior.

4 RepliesThis affects everyone who works a typical job. I live in the west coast of US. So I will have to patch my Xbox at 6 tonight when I get home. It means I will be downloading it at prime time too. Obviously I will be at a huge advantage. Really only people who are at home during a typical workday are going to be shafted.

1 ReplyBungie seems to really hate the UK.

2 RepliesYeah I was always curious about why bungie patches the game in the afternoon (US) rather than in the evening

I agree

6 RepliesThe point is, by releasing huge patches at 10am PST, it means Europeans, which probably make up a sizeable chunk of the player base, are faced with a 18gb download at 6pm when A) Students and 9-5 workers are most likely to have free time to play B) demand for bandwidth is it at it's highest. The suggestion is merely that Bungie change patching times to minimise the disruption and allow more players to the opportunity to download the patch at hours when players are likely to be occupied by either sleep or work and bandwidth isn't been hogged by dozens of people turning on Netflix and torrents. How is this a bad thing at all? Pretty certain US players would be slightly miffed as well if patch downloads began to cut into their prime playing time. Puts Bungie out, but I'm pretty certain a big night shift once or twice a year wouldn't be too much for a company of their size to figure out the logistics. Enterprise IT systems are regularly patched over night to avoid disruption. It isn't unheard of. Or they could stagger the patches. 10am PST for the US, 10am GMT etc. Obviously would mean certain players would get the patch sooner but everyone gets to download it at decent hours.
