The number says 28-7-61 dude. It's an exact date, not a year. I'm guessing the 61 means 2061 and that's the date of first contact with the traveler, the beginning of the Golden age

Also, not only does it say "present day" in the cut scene, but we ARE planning to go to Mars very soon.

You should probably look up how Roman numerals work. I=1 V=5 X=10 L=50 So what it actually says is: 28 - 7-61 maybe you could see that as a full date (July 28 xx61), but to be the year 2761, it would be MMDCCLXI. (M=1000, D=500, C=100)

You could also go to destinytimeline.com. They acutely know Roman numerals on that site.

This could be the date the tower was built (month second) 2503 in Roman numerals is MMDIII 2761 is MMDCCLXI OP, could you please explain to me how you got those numbers because the numerals you found show a date: 28th July --61. But it doesn't say the century.
