I've never seen this addressed- I'm assuming the surface of the Moon is your basic vacuum of space, and as to progress deeper down, the Hive's atmosphere begins. Any thoughts?
Edit/Consensus/Etc. Moon has atmosphere in Destiny. Apparently all Traveler Space Magic touched planets have a similar gravity well as well. It was pointed out astutely that Destiny is fantasy over Sci-Fi. Some of the Traveler's Space Magic just requires a suspension of disbelief, facts/science cannot explain. Atmosphere yes because: sound heard, weapon performance effects by atmospheric drag (range is not unlimited as in a vacuum). Whether this is a habitable and dynamic atmosphere is up of debate, because I see no life supported outside aliens, and the considerable amount of dust on the moon would be blown around. An atmospheric Moon should look more like the Sahara, and less like a cratered moon. But it is just a game after all...
Also: Guardians going to the bathroom in their armor (Tower has no bathrooms!) would need to shard their pants. Haha.

Venus is supposed to be like 800 degrees, but guardians and the fallen seem to not care. Probably more Traveler magic
-
It was either the Traveller or whatever the Hellmouth is spewing out.
-
The Hive seem to be generating their own atmosphere both on the moon and the Dreadnought- when you land you see the wind blowing out of the dreadnought. The thing is so huge its gravity holds on to the gases nicely

I only read the title, I'll be honest. Yes. Yes it does. My robes were moving in the wind while I was sat down.

2 RepliesEdited by TheMilkman: 8/27/2015 12:00:39 AMIn the destiny world yes. If you look at the sky; you would see stars and planets. In irl all you would see is pitch black due to no atmosphere. The reason why is because the atmosphere allows the refraction and mirror like abilities that allow certain color to blend through. Therefore the moon has a atmosphere, but if this is true; how come we can't breathe there? This is just a theory but when the fallen and hive came to moon for colonization they may have let in a gas that can easily spread. This gas is probably what allows the hive to breathe for long sustains of time. You may also ask how come the hive can breathe on earth. Well think like this, those seeders the hive come from are a terra former. The green toxic gas allows the hive to breathe on earth. There may not be enough to poison humans but maybe enough for the hive to live there. This could also be the reason why the hive have weaker forces on earth. The lack of oxygen has weaken their strength and they need more seeders on earth to support their lung capacity. Tl:dr; the hive are using seeders as terra formers the change the chemical compound on the moon and earth so they can raise a stronger army.
or you know space magic.
6 RepliesIt's the quintessential difference between science fiction and fantasy. Star Trek is science fiction. It addresses the reality of how things work and operate, how intergalactic travel is possible from a very scientific point of view. Star Wars is fantasy. It doesn't concern itself with how lightsaber a work, they just do because it's fantasy and it doesn't weigh itself down with the burden of logic. Destiny is fantasy.

4 Repliesthe traveler made all the planets (yes including the moon) inhabitable for us
-
12 RepliesForget about the air, I just want to know why there are no bathrooms at the tower.
-
Lol but going to venus Mars and mercury aren't an issue?
-
1 Replythere's gravity like on earth, venus etc... so i'd assume so.
-
3 RepliesNo atmosphere. That's why you need a helmet.
-
1 ReplyAs far as we know, all planetary locations (including the Moon) within the boundaries of what is now known as the Reef were terraformed by the Traveler.
-
5 RepliesThe moon (in destiny) must have some oxygen because we can hear sound. That's aiming my physics is correct (maybe not as I've never taken physics).
-
Idk... its a game whatever works is fine... after working all day i dont want to think about it... lol
-
Yes it does its mentioned in one of the grimoire cards, don't remember what one but if I'm still up I'll look it up.
-
20 RepliesThere must be. Presence of gravity leads me to believe there is.
-
7 RepliesI don't think it has one, it might but we can't tell.
-
They do say the traveler helped terraform shit to habitability... Hence... Cities on other planets... And -blam!-ing Mercury at that... Next to the -blam!-ing sun... Traveler did some serious space magic on that. If you ever made it to the lighthouse you'd know.... Walking around without a helm... "Nope...No sunburns here.."
-
2 RepliesWhat pisses me off is the meteorites on the moon... And the ultra low satellites... And the constant firing of the engines in orbit... And the "aero" maneuvering in space... And the space station in the sky on next gen that's either big enough to have a gravity pull (in order to be seen in geostationary orbit from the ground) or is immobile... Or the same gravity on all planets... But the Destiny fan boys will still just say BU... BUT THE TRAVELER!!1!!1! Even the traveler can't do some of this stuff. It's all BS, and nobody notices
-
Seeing how the Hive want to shoot stuff and not float away as well, I assume they terraformed Luna in some way. Or it could simply be the Travelers power, reaching to multiple planets in our system.
-
We got space helmets and magic bro
-
Traveler has space magic bro
-
Traveler used space magic and shit, so yes
-
1 ReplyThe moon has an atmosphere in Destiny. You can hear things after all, can't you?
-
4 RepliesTraveler reshaped everything therefor making the moon have an atmosphere
-
1 ReplyWe Guardians are not stopped by silly things such as gravity or atmosphere!..
